I come here frequent because I like how there's always parking easily available, the place seems clean and is a nice size dining area so you don't feel cramped...you actually have some space between your table and others. I pretty much order the same thing everytime....the beef stew with noodles. It's really good!! I wish the staff were a little friendlier and more attentive though. After they bring your food, they pretty much abandon you. I had to go hunt the server(s) down to ask for my check and one time had to ask about my food that I had ordered 20 minutes ago. During the summer this became a go-to chill spot for my best friend and I. Funny, because I usually don't consume Pho often. I tend to be overly conscious about my weight. What I can say is that she seemed to enjoy their Pho, so it must not have been terrible. They carry do carry bubble tea, which is a certain love of mine that is always add a plus to dining. Overall, I would have to say the most distinguishing part of Pho Hot is the crazy and somewhat absurd indoor decorating. Seriously. Two large fountains with fish on either side of the restaurant. They also incorporate bowls that spew fake fire into their decor. Extremely strange and maybe classy in a backhanded sense of the term. I'm not sure what they are trying to accomplish, exactly. Maybe that adds to the quirky charm. Also take into consideration the wide range of LCD displays depicting random images of food that may or may not be served at Pho Hot. They seem to also constantly play a strange loop of music - classic rock songs that are remade into a more "oriental" sounding mix. I'm pretty sure this is what stepping into a restaurant from the Twilight Zone would be like. Suspense, horror, and fantasy? Upon my first visit I was taken aback by the strange interior, and overly-fishy smell of the tables. Still, Pho Hot has grown on me. Perhaps only because of the fond memories and good camaraderie that was shared during my visits. We became so regular for a time the staff would recognize us whenever we entered. Fortunately or not, those days have passed. Not a restaurant for those looking for the most delicious food, but an interesting place. read more

I've been to Pho Hot several times in my life, including several times walking home from Annandale High School, and I can say that compared to some of the other pho places in the area (including Pho 75, Golden Cow, and Pho Sate) this place is quite mediocre. The broth is OK, but the real issue I have is with the meat. I've had some decent meat sometimes here, but all too often it is rubbery and tasteless. For example, when I order the flank steak with my pho, it often looks like something I'd get at McDonalds, not something that was freshly cut up at the restaurant. The other dishes aren't too bad, the egg roles are usually fresh and crispy and the spring rolls hold their own. I've gotta admit though, it is quite strange to see a popcorn and cotton candy machine in this place! Did they win it at the carnival or something? But simply put, the reality is this: why go to Pho Hot when there is better pho in Annandale for pretty much the same price? As mentioned above, Golden Cow and Pho 75 (or even Pho 50 for that matter) are less than 10 minutes away, and all offer significantly better pho. I gave it one star because Yelp forced me to. WORST PHO I'VE EVER EATEN! I live in Annadale and have eaten at every pho restaurant within a 5-mile radius. Eating pho is my hobby, people. I joined a gym in Eden so I could grab dinner there on my way home. What I'm saying is, I'm dedicated. I ordered two brisket pho's for my husband and I. They came with a three-inch log of fat laying on top of the soup. Perhaps this was meant to add flavor? It did not. The rest of the beef was disgustingly fatty and we picked all of it out. The noodles were okay until I reached the giant ball of thick, flat, linguini-style noodles with little spikes covering them. I likened them to a cat tongue. If you all aren't familiar with a cat tongue, they are rough and sand-paper like. That's exactly how the texture of these noodles was, not to mention they were so chewy that they wouldn't break down in my mouth. We ended up picking these out of the soup as well. When the fat and cat noodles were out, we were just left with the broth. The broth was watery and unenjoyable. We wasted $20 on this meal that we couldn't eat and will never return for a second try. Go to Pho Ngoc Hung on Columbia Pike instead and get fantastic food and service. read more

We just got back home from this place and i have been throwing up my hole meal ... this place became a joke and unsanitary ... to begin with we found two bugs in our roll sauce . My wife called the server and he apologized ( fine bugs could not be controlled )he replaced the sauce by another another very watery . Then the Pho came in little cold ... the smell wasn't right ...told my wife something doesnt smell right in it .... i wish i just left at this point ... added everything plus sate sauce and lemon . I had ordered myself a large bowl of pho (i share with my son) & my mom had ordered a small.. we like our pho with beef, meatballs, and tripe. i literally had ONE piece of tripe, not even being dramatic, it was ONE little piece and i had less meat/meatballs than my moms SMALL bowl. the beef was also overcooked which made it hard to chew & it had a weird dark color to it.... it was definitely NOT worth what we paid. On top of that, the whole time we were there nobody came to check on us or asked if we needed anything, it was very hard to catch their attention even tho there were only a few customers there. This area doesn't seem like the nicest neighborhood with hoolagans walking about outside. When you walk in, it looks like a cafeteria or a food court, but it's not. I've had pho recently, and I felt like I should hit up some vermicelli, so I ordered the vermicelli with egg rolls on that weekday evening. I felt nauseous after eating all of it. I am accustomed to eating all my food, so i forced myself to finish. It was very meh. The upside was that they gave a ton of noodles and the prices make it very affordable. Pretty reliable pho shop. + wheatgrass shots + wide variety of dishes, although the pho is go-to dish + kids pho available -- extra charges for for basil and bean sprouts + open late, 12AM, for those with late night cravings + large, spacious, brightly painted seating area -1 star because I'm used to my pho coming out instantly (2-5 minutes) at Pho 75 (my favorite Pho place in town), yet it took about 10 minutes here. Pretty damn good. This was actually only my 2nd Pho Experience and it has been YEARS since my first. I decided to go with #18 which is the chicken Pho noodle soup. The chicken was very lean and nicely cut, the noodles were abundant and the broth was a bit bland. Bland flavor is easily extinguished with the ample amount of sriracha that comes with an order of pho. I like how a large number of bamboo shoots comes with each order. Not only do these give the soup a nice crunch but they basically have no calories and are much preferred (by me) over the fried crispy noodle things that comes with some types of soup. I also ordered some summer rolls, which tasted quite fresh. I did not care that much for the peanut sauce, there was not enough peanut flavor and it just tasted like sugar to me. Boyyyy has this place gone down the drain! There was one only server who didn't seem to really want to be working. He ignored me when I got there, served another client first who arrived after me, never checked on me once I got my food, forget a water refill, and when I needed a box I had to flag him down. They only take credit cards with a minimum of $10. My total was $8.96. I told the cashier I didn't have that much cash and she said with much attitude, OK then buy a drink. I told her to just go ahead and charge $10 to my card, she said we can't do that you buy drink and her hands were flailing. Once I was forced to buy a drink, the card reader wouldn't take my card. You name it pho 75 golden cow, pho doung, Viet hiet, pho factory, p ho hyung viet, pho saigon, all the places in eden shopping center. This place here pho hot used to be great portions. But the cost went up and the portions got smaller over the years. I think the reason they do this is cause they opem late till 12am. I wont be returning here again. This place is incompetent sometimes they give you just enough and sometimes they give you way less. There never generous on the portions. People work hard for there money. The only reason i go to this place is cause there open late till midnight. And after looking at the other reviews on here i came to the conclusion that they do skimp. Hell they even skimp on the veggies and you have the nerve to go up on your prices without making your portions any bigger. Look at the pics. Very litte meat and noodles compared to the other pho places i went to. Is matter fact this is the littlest ingredients ive ever gotten from any pho place. After spending 4 hours at a spa, my best friend and I needed something hot in our stomachs. We both craved pho but knew our go-to-spot was closed. So we yelped, and yelped, and boy do we need more 24-hour open places. But after driving around and yelping we finally landed in Annandale to Pho Hot. Ive been here before but never tried their pho. I've had their boba smoothies and small side dishes but that night was a night to try their pho. It was a very spacious pho place and very bright in color which I loved since most pho places looks so drab. I ordered a number 1 pho which is the combination I think. My friend ordered the all white meat chicken Pho and we each ordered a summer roll and spring rolls. The summer rolls came out frozen cold and lack of taste, I had to leave it to thaw a bit before taking another bite. And the spring rolls were extremely hot and crispy (which is should be) so that was an A+. Our pho came right afterwards and smelled divine. The broth was a bit on the bland side, I typically do not add the hoisin (asian bbq sauce) but I had to add a lot to this one. The meats had so much fat attached to them and it got irritating to eat after awhile since I would have to constantly pick out the fat. My friend didnt like her soup too much because of the fat on the white meat chicken. Customer service was on point. Came to refill our waters once we were missing some in out cups. Asked every so often if we were doing ok. Very friendly place (which is not known so much for pho places) Would I come again, probably, only because it is available late night. read more

The pho here isn't bad, but it's nothing spectacular either. I usually get the regular sized pho ga (chicken) or pho tai (one of the beef options). The basil is usually decently fresh. The amount of meat and noodles can vary significantly per order, and sometimes you may get a big clump of meat rather than the individual slices spread around in the soup stock. It can also be difficult to get a refill on your water,. They have a nice mint tea, but it's literally the same thing you get at Trader Joe's. The servers are also generally pretty patient if you decide to linger a while after your meal. read more

Just got off late at work and I wanted pho and my only options at this time was this place or Ba Le. I've been to Ba Le plenty of times before so I decided to give this place a try. As I walked in I noticed how large the restaurant is and how modern it looks not like your typical pho place. I have that problem with yelp a lot where a 4 just seems too high (as a 5 is the reserved for the best) but a 3 seems like a C in school. It is technically average but average seems crappy.
