    beef vermicelli

I visited for dinner on Boxing Day, a Sunday, and it wasn't busy at all, just one other table besides mine. They had plenty of people coming in to pick up to-go orders, though. Service was prompt and friendly. I ordered the chicken spring rolls, beef vermicelli, and mango juice; all delicious. The chicken spring rolls are deep fried and very tasty with mixed veg in with the meat. The beef vermicelli (bún bò nướng) was a large portion with lots of marinated beef, noodles, and mixed veg. The best part was honestly the fresh mango juice, so refreshing. I also got a strawberry bubble tea to go (tapioca pearls are extra), and it was more like a smoothie than a tea but it was still good. My meal was about $29, which I think is a good price considering all the food I got. The staff was very friendly and I would visit here the next time I'm in the area.

Not awful. The food was pretty good but it's very strange that they charge for hot tea. Every pho restaurant I go to offers complimentary hot tea but Pho House charges per pot. I feel they take advantage of people who are not frequent pho eaters in the area by doing this which I don't like. Besides that the food was ok but I'd go elsewhere as there's much better pho places in Mississauga that's worth it to drive to from Etobicoke.

Was here for a late dinner on Saturday. Ordered a large beef pho with tripe and asked for bean sprouts to be cooked. Compared to last time, there was a lot more tripe and the bean sprouts were cooked well. Service was fast and good.

Place is clean and serving staff are attentive! Tried the well done pho with beef balls and was underwhelmed by the flavours or the temperature of the broth. A decent option for the area, but won't be my go to spots if I can drive the same distance and go to Golden Turtle on Ossington.

Great Service. Delicious Pho. Little to no wait time. This was the perfect spot for a quick weeknight bite. Our food came in under 10 minutes and our servers were on top of it the entire time. So kind and sweet - we were greeted upon leaving and entering. We ordered vegetable and chicken pho with rice noodles and a side of spring rolls, which were generous in size. I would definitely recommend ordering a small, as the portions are massive. It was a soothing meal for what was a cold night. The place was almost full for a Thursday night. I thought it was well-priced and delicious. I would definitely return.

This is a great local Viet/Thai place in Etobicoke, the flavours are similar to traditional Vietnamese cooking. We came here with a group of 7 on a Thursday evening and it was not too busy. Service was fast, and we ordered an assortment of things. Each dish was decently packed, I found that my bún tht nn & ch giò (Vermicelli with grilled beef and spring rolls) could have been more flavourful. My friend ordered the chicken pad thai and said it was delicious, a large serving so she brought some home. Another friend ordered an avocado smoothie but said it was tasteless and she wouldn't be able to name the flavour had she not known. Overall, if my friends want to try some Viet or Thai this place is my go-to for something not too pricey. The atmosphere of the restaurant is pretty classy, but not overly fancy.

This cozy restaurant has a family-friendly atmosphere and features some of Toronto's best phö. And even if you are like me and skip the appetizers you'd be missing some real delights like their Crispy Spring Rolls, a lightly crunchy wrapping around succulent fillings that could included veggies, seafood or chicken. My other personal favourite is the Crispy Calamari that offers a delicately crunchy batter surrounding tender strips with a plummy dipping sauce. If phö isn't your thing the orange chicken is a delicious alternative. But if you are a phö fan like me they offer a great variety. So far my pick is the Chicken & Well Done Beef Rice Noodle Soup. I like mine with lots of fresh basil and bean sprouts. But we always make sure to leave some room for the endearingly sweet Vietnamese coffee. It makes an excellent dessert!

Very casual place for a quick Vietnamese warm up meal. This place gets busy but turnover is fast so if you have to wait, like we did today, it will be less than 5 minutes. The service is pleasant and expedient. Today we both had the Tom Yum soup with noodles. It was on our table within 5 minutes from placing our order. One of the soups was tofu and vegetable and the other soup was shrimp and chicken. The soups usually do not come with noodles but we like to add them in and it is like a dollar or so more per soup. Delicious soups with a serving of fresh veggies, at least, in each bowl. Big enough portions that we took about half home. And we even skipped the fresh rolls which we usually get as an appetizer. What you get at Pho House is great value and very consistent quality with fast service. Check it out when you can!

Medium sized Chicken Rice Noodle Soup - very generous serving. Bean sprouts and Basil were very fresh.

Second time coming here; the food is good but the service is even better! I've only had the Chicken Rice Noodle Soup (Pho) but unfortunately I'm not impressed with the chicken they put in their soup. It seems to be over-cooked and dry (how that's possible in a soup...I'm not sure! And the quality of the chicken needs improvement). The service is always great. They've always got more staff in than they need, but it's great because you're seated and served quickly. I had the Pho the other day, and it literally came out in 2 minutes. I was starving, so I was very appreciative. The 2 times I had gone in there, there were maybe 5 or 6 tables occupied and tons more available. If you want your quick fix of Pho, it's definitely worth a try. I will probably be trying the Rare Beef next time, as the chicken left me less than impressed (reason for the 3 stars). I will definitely visit again should I need a Pho fix!

I have been going to Pho house since my first year of university! After looking for the best place to have pho near kipling station i had decided to try this place out. I was so pleased with the cleanliness and service of this restaurant as most Pho places are not to par! Amazing food choices, great prices, decent service, and tastey food no matter what you try! I usually go for calamari, Pho Ga and deep fried bananas for dessert! Yum yum yum!

Imagine if Banh Mi and Pho had a beef dip baby. It was pretty delicious. The broth was super flavourful. It made me definitely want to come back to try the pho. I also ordered a regular Banh mi to go which was good but I'd probably stick to the more inventive sandwiches. The pork belly one sounds good too. The place only has 2 small tables so take out might be your only option. I was lucky that a couple were leaving just as my order was ready. Really nice hidden gem owned by a mom/daughter team and her boyfriend. They were super nice and told me to call ahead so they could save some pho for me next time I come. Go check them out!

It was her choice and to be honest I was really unsure of the place because I really haven't eaten a lot of Vietnamese food. First impressions, what a beautiful lively restaurant. I loved the look and feel of the restaurant I was really excited to see my friend and just enjoy dinner together and catch up. It was my treat so I suggested we do the Family style option for 2, that way we could try a few dishes. To start we got the chips and dip, beef carpaccio, and octopus skewers. Everything can out quickly. The crispy taro chips and green chili aioli were so delicious. Really enjoyed the beef carpaccio as well. Thinly sliced filet of beef, peanuts, crispy shallots, thai basil, mint, perilla, lime vinaigrette..what a combination of flavours. I didn't eat the octopus, I almost did because it looked delish! Maybe next time I'll get over my weirdness. Next round of dishes were the steak Luc lac and the garlic fried noodles. Drool! So delicious. I loved the crispy cassava and burnt scallions with the steak. I would have preferred it cooks a bit more. But, honestly it was great to enjoy it as intended. The crispy noodles were delicious as well with the fried garlic and the poached egg adds that creaminess. Last but not least was the dessert. We got the Three Layer dessert which was a sticky rice cake with coconut condensed milk, strawberry red bean puree and the most delectable mung bean streusel. It was such an amazing combination of flavours. One of the best dessert I've eaten. A few things which I didn't minus score for but was not great. I ordered the fries to substitute for the crispy cassava but they forgot I ordered that and we got the crispy cassava instead which I'm glad we did. Another thing is. Our leftovers never made it back to us because another server mistakenly threw it in the garbage. They did make up for it and offered a dish to go. Lastly, the women's washroom was gross, dirty, and honestly a bit off putting. Besides that. The mean was impeccable. Service could improve, I understand they were busy. And also just more upkeep to the restrooms is needed during busy period.

Funny enough, my friend Burgis, who's an excellent chef in Toronto, and I were recently talking…read moreabout gentrification and the wave of influencer-driven restaurants in the city, especially around King West. But he told me there was one exception: The Lunch Lady. Ever since that conversation, I'd been meaning to visit. With Mother's Day coming up, I decided it would be the perfect place to bring my mom, so I booked us a table. Upon entering, we were warmly greeted by a friendly hostess. Our server was friendly overall albeit I was hoping for just a bit more attentiveness. The restaurant itself was spotless, with a beautiful bar and an open-concept kitchen where you could watch the chefs expertly preparing each dish. We decided on the Bò Tái Chanh (beef carpaccio) to start, followed by the Cơm Chiên Cua (crab fried rice) and the Bò Lúc Lắc (8 oz ribeye steak). The Bò Tái Chanh was incredibly refreshing. The thin slices of exceptionally fresh wagyu were delicate and satisfying, layered with an impressive depth of textures and flavours. The nuttiness and crunch from the peanuts and fried shallots played beautifully against the herbal brightness of mint, basil, and perilla, while the pickled onions and lemon vinaigrette added sweetness and acidity that tied everything together. The best way to enjoy it was with chopsticks, rolling each slice into little beef wraps bursting with flavour. After the appetizer, there was about a 20-minute wait before the mains arrived together. The wait was worth it as they were absolutely PHENOMENAL. The Cơm Chiên Cua was wonderful. The moment I took my first spoonful of rice mixed with the generous chunks of red crab, the aroma of the sea washed over me like an oceanic wave. Every bite of sweet crab meat and popping fish roe felt vibrant and alive, balanced by the grounded peppercorns, like stepping on the warm beach sand of Ho Coc near Ho Chi Minh City. My favourite bite was with the poached egg mixed in: creamy, oceanic, sweet, savoury, and lightly spicy all at once. It was an incredibly immersive dish like swimming in the Biển Đông. I also want to applaud the portion size - there was an abundance of both crab and rice, making the dish feel genuinely generous and fulfilling. If I had one small suggestion, it would simply be a touch more wok hei for added smokiness. And then there was the Bò Lúc Lắc, a truly unforgettable dish. Everything about it reflected an extraordinary understanding of balance, technique, and ingredient harmony. The lightly marinated ribeye was sous vide and grilled to a perfect medium rare, melting effortlessly in the mouth while delivering deep umami and subtle sweetness along the crust. The foie gras added richness, creaminess, and a gentle smokiness that elevated the steak even further. What impressed me most, though, was how every component on the plate worked together. The watercress salad, lightly dressed in lemon vinaigrette, brought freshness, peppery bitterness, and acidity that cut beautifully through the richness of the steak and foie gras. The cassava chips were airy, crispy, and lightly spicy, adding both texture and contrast. Together, the dish delivered sweetness, saltiness, bitterness, acidity, spice, and umami in perfect balance. Anthony Bourdain once described Lunch Lady in Saigon as "discovering new neighborhoods every few mouthfuls," and I'd say this dish felt like an entire world tour. There were clear influences and techniques drawing from Vietnam, France, Hong Kong, and South America, yet everything felt cohesive rather than excessive. It was one of the most impressive steak dishes I've had in Toronto, if not around the world. To conclude, The Lunch Lady was an absolute sensation, and I truly think my mom had one of her best Mother's Days there. You can feel the vision and legacy of Nguyễn Thị Thanh (rest in peace) in the food, and the two executive chefs carrying that vision forward are doing something remarkable. We'll absolutely be back to explore more of the menu. (Also, a special shoutout to the expo/sous chef who came out to speak with us and explain the dishes - it genuinely elevated the experience even further.)
