Great pho in town. Rich broth with plentiful briskets just perfectly cooked. They were kind enough to give us an overwhelming amount of cilantro and lime. Gave four stars because our summer roll and crispy spring rolls were subpar. Usually comes with side of lettuce, noodles, carrots, and cilantro leaves to serve together. However wasn't upset as the pho was delicious

Really enjoy a pho spot that offers a lot of variety to non-Viet guests while stays true to its roots. The menu is very accessible, while they still including the original name dishes in Vietnamese, there is a good description of the dish. With nearly 19 variations of pho and various rice, vermicelli, and stir-fry noodle options, they're offering alot! And who doesn't like a warm bowl of pho in the city? This location is very spacious and clean, kitchen and front-house staff are friendly and accommodating, and I like how this location brings all sorts of people in their doors. When it comes to the broth, I found it to be not overpowering and on the light side, I wish more of the spices came through so you can't really tell what makes their broth distinct from other phos. However, all the toppings came correct, and its very hard to find a pho that includes tripe in the city. Its no frills, so just sriracha and hoisin as the tableside condiments. Its a good classic to rely on when the craving comes around.

Pho House has been by far one of my favorite spots since moving into the neighborhood! My roommate & I visit at least once a week. I can say the quality and quantity of the food has been consistently delicious!! The spot is a whole in the wall but please don't pass it off. It's clean, staff is friendly for the most part and the portions are great for the price, especially in the area.

As a Vietnamese American who grew up eating homecooked delicious pho for breakfast, lunch, and dinner... here are my thoughts: Pho here was okay-good. I always try the classic Combination pho in all the pho restaurants I go to. I ordered the #1 combo, and the broth flavor was not as bold as I wanted to be. It felt a little lackluster to me, so much that I had to add more Sriracha and Hoisin sauce to this broth to make it taste better. For the price point of $18 with tax, I don't think that's this bowl of was worth my money because I didn't have as much meat, noodles and broth as I would like. I will come here again if I needed to *partially* fill a craving It was also a quiet atmosphere inside during a Saturday lunch hour and my waiter didn't really come back to check on me, which was OK I guess, but the service was average as well. --------- My Star Rating Scale: 5 Stars: Excellent--- Blew my mind, had a wow factor, will come back 4 Stars: Good--- I liked it but didn't love it, no wow factor, will still come back 3 Stars: Okay--- It was okay, I didn't hate it but didn't like it either; would not voluntarily come back 2 Stars: Bad--- I did not like it, I would not come back 1 Star: Horrible--- Absolutely hated it, I would not come back here

With the weather beginning to get colder - what better time to start exploring to find great Pho restaurants in the DMV. My friend and I decided to try Pho House because of its very central location, and also because of its great reviews. Overall, the food was delicious and the we were able to add extra meats and make substitutions to our orders which was great. The broth that I had with my Pho was very well made. The flavours were substantive, as were the meats that were in the dish.

We had a great meal at Pho House! We came here after seeing a show at Howard Theater, and it was just across the street. The restaurant is cute! It smelled pretty strongly of disinfectant, which is off putting for when you're hungry but at least you know the place is clean! The service was quick! We got pho and some fried dumplings and tofu. The food was really good. I thought the pho was much better than the apps we tried.

Walked in here on happenstance, as I was driving through the area and noticed the restaurant. I was craving soup, so decided to stop in and give them a chance. It's a very colorful restaurant with artwork, hand made designs, and floral arrangements throughout the interior. It was seat yourself seating when I walked in, but the service was just ok. I wasn't really sure who was my server because one employee told me to just take a seat when I sat down but never checked on me to ask if I was ready to order after handing me the menu. He was sitting at a table, just chilling on his computer. Another woman came out from the back and I asked her if I could order. I noticed some customers would walk to him or her, so it wasn't clear who was really manning the floor. Anyways, it was my first time trying pho, so I was eager to eat it. I ordered the brisket pho, and wow. It came out in a rather large bowl, and each table had condiments to add to the soup, like chili sauce, siracha, and some type of oyster sauce. To be honest, the broth was extremely flavorful and I added a bit of chili sauce just to enhance the overall flavor, but the pho was exceptionally delicious. The brisket was thinly sliced and really paired well with the broth. The noodles were cooked well, and I was able to pick up on many different flavors in the dish, like cilantro, lemon, onion, etc. It was so tasty and I really appreciated the presentation of the dish as well. Although the servers were not very attentive, I'm thinking it's just the vibe of the restaurant. They left me alone and I was able to eat my food in peace. I definitely would come back again because the pho was very delicious. I guess I would just manage my expectations about their service. Smh.

I have been trying various pho places in DC and northern Virginia area this winter. I came across this place while exploring pho places in the Shaw area. Ambiance is great. Very bright and clean. From the outside it does not look anything special, but trust me they have a great restaurant and very friendly staff. Loved their service. I have had their all meat pho and pho sate. Pho sate is a spicy broth with lemongrass flavor. Highly recommend this one if you want something spicy. It has amazing flavors. Traditional one is pretty good as well. Lots of meat. You can balance the spice in the traditional one by adding some house hot sauce. It's competitively priced as compared to the other pho spots. Parking can be hard to find in this location as it's located in the heart of Shaw neighborhood. I recommend taking a metro.

This was my fist time having pho and it was such a good experience. The spicy lemongrass broth was just enough for me and I liked the variety of meat in the combo option. The service was quick and they also serve a plate of bean sprouts and veggies on the side for you to add to the soup.

Easily the best pho in this city. From the moment we walked in it felt like home, the smell of delicious food in the air. We were immediately seated and service was great! I ordered the pho seafood and my bf had the pho tai. We shared goi cuon Tom (summer rolls with shrimp) and each had a Thai iced tea. The presentation of everything was simple yet beautiful. The broth of the pho had so much depth and was delicious. If you haven't tried this place you are certainly missing out!

I had an 8:00 reservation for a speakeasy nearby and literally stumbled upon this place by accident. It's right across the street from Howard Theater, and there's an entrance on both T Street and Florida Ave. I stepped inside and was immediately told to sit wherever I would like. There were plenty of tables around, and the decor didn't really stand out. Music was on point though! I decided to get the Seafood Pho and some shrimp summer rolls. I enjoyed the summer rolls and peanut sauce so much that I got another order for myself... that rarely happens!! The pho was simply delicious... sriracha, chili oil and hoisin sauce were available on the table for me to add as much heat and extra flavor as I wanted to... totally worth it. I haven't tried too many different pho places, but this was pretty darn good! The broth wasn't too exciting (flavor-wise) before I added the sauces, I will say. But aside from that... if you need a pho fix, check this spot out. For early on a Saturday evening the crowd wasn't too wild either. Give em a shot!

there was something in my food and was truly disgusted!!! i was enjoying my food and all of a sudden there was plastic found in my food, ngl they fucking got it. Never coming here, find better places in dc please guys, save yourself a trip pls

A5. Egg Rolls (3 rolls), 1. Combo Pho, 19. Pho Sate (Spicy lemongrass pho (#19))
    Dana A.

Ambience is blah but the pho is delicious. We got the combo and the spicy lemongrass and would get them both again. The egg rolls came out crispy and hot, they were small so I probably wouldn't get them again for the price but they were delicious. Also, they give a lot of bean sprouts, basil, and jalapeño, more than any other Vietnamese restaurant I've been to. Definitely a quality that makes this place stand out! The service...Only 1-2 people work the front of the house at a time. It's very bare bones staffing. When you come in you can grab any table you like. You have to order at the cash register and give your table number if you're dining in. You pay at the cash register when you're done eating. The employee wasn't great with English so I pointed to things on the menu and brought the drinks from the fridge to the cash register. FYI - You can only enter the restaurant through the entrance on U St. The back entrance is locked.

Pho #6. Excellent. The brisket here is particularly tender. Next time I'm going all brisket!

Overall Ratings Atmosphere - 3/5 Service - 3/5 Food - 3/5 Parking - Street Parking Atmosphere - The restaurant feels a bit old and dated and could probably use some updating. Interestingly, while the dining room definitely shows its age, the ordering system is modern and up to date. The contrast between the two was pretty noticeable. Service - Service was just okay. This is more of a casual setup where customers place their orders at the counter and the staff bring the food out when it's ready. There wasn't really anything memorable, either good or bad, about the service experience. What We Ordered - -Spring Rolls (Good) -Pho Dac Biet (Special Beef Pho) - The flavor was good overall, but the broth was only lukewarm when it arrived. A bowl of pho really needs to be piping hot, so this took away from the experience. -Grilled Pork Rice Plate - The pork was a bit too salty for my taste and was just okay overall. Final Thoughts - This was an average dining experience. The food was decent, the service was adequate, and the atmosphere was nothing particularly special. Nothing stood out enough to make me want to go out of my way to return, but I also wouldn't discourage others from trying it if they're already in the area. There are simply other Vietnamese restaurants nearby that I would be more inclined to visit first.

Inside had small tables and a kinda casual cocktail bar vibe Beef Noodles - the highlight and actually very good! The noodles are long and handmade and chewy. They hold onto the sauce very well! The sauce has a slight kick and is very savory. The beef is soft and also flavorful! I feel the price for the portion is kinda expensive though 8/10 Chili wontons - skin is silky and soft, sauce is savory with a small kick as well! Even though the sauces look similar to beef noodle they taste very different. The fillings had good flavor and overall were good but were a bit tougher and dryer than I would prefer. 6/10 Crab fried rice - crab is slightly overcooked but naturally sweet. It has a light curry taste throughout and was pretty good but didn't really stand out 5.5/10 Mapo tofu - slight kick and nice savory taste in the sauce! However I think they cut the tofu pieces way too large or the tofu they chose had way too much tofu flavor that overpowers the sauce. I'd prefer a very light silky tofu but this was a soft tofu. 6/10 Vpod - at first it just tasted like orange juice but then the other flavors peek through on the after taste and when I mixed it more. Even though it was good, it still felt very basic 5/10 Philadelphia Scotsman - it's pretty ginger forward. Technically the level of ginger spice is fine but strong but then the rest of the drink got completely overpowered and so this just wasn't that great 2.5/10
