I hate to write a bad review for this place because the guy running it seemed so sweet but here it goes. We came in around 1:30 on a Thursday hoping for a quick and authentic Vietnamese lunch. We were seated but our drink orders weren't taken immediately, whatever. After we got our drinks the waitress left and we didn't see her for another 15 minutes although we were ready to order. The BBQ summer rolls were good but made with visibly old lettuce. The Tom yum soup entirely lacked flavor and had HUGE pieces of vegetables in it which I couldn't really eat because I'd need a knife to cut them. The basil chicken which is supposed to be Thai tasted more like some cheap Chinese takeout dish. I was hoping the food would be comparable to Pho Thai Nam but it wasn't even close. This place is as good as it gets in Norristown. Compared to the other Pho places this place is the best. People like pho Thai nam don't know why be cause their pho is nothing compared to Pho Kitch'n. One of the few Viet options in the area, but it's quite good! The pho is good and they give a large portion for the price, plus they don't skimp on the meat! The noodles are appropriately chewy but still tender. Their combo broken rice is also good! Again, very filling and good delicate flavors that balance well. The new owners have made significant changes that are welcomed. The Hong Kong wonton soup is a staple of my take-out diet, as are many others from this pan-Asian menu. One objection was encountered yesterday when I brought home the Seafood Soup for two. At $8.95, it was a disappointment. I'd much rather pay an extra $3 to $5 for real seafood than the spongy fake crab and scallops. This is one dish that has not improved but has gone downhill. New owners take note: offer a soup with real seafood and charge accordingly. I'll be back when you do. read more

My first time to Pho Kitch'n was a few weeks back for lunch and I thought the food was outstanding. So last night, a rainy Friday night, my wife and I thought we would order takeout. Unfortunately, and not a surprise, the ordering program does not take into account how busy the restaurant currently is. (Note to self- call in any future orders). So at the appointed pick up time I arrived and to say the place was packed is wildly understated. Every table was occupied and there were at least three other guys waiting for pick up. And the phone was ringing. And ringing. The man attempting to deal with all of this, and I assume he is the owner, was doing his best to be cheerful and trying to assure people they would get their food. He was perfectly honest with anyone calling on the phone that it would be a looooong wait. The funny side note is that a guy came in the restaurant and told the man that he was the person on hold and decide to come instead. The phone was still off the hook. Well past my pick up time, like 45 minutes, the owner asked me my name. He at first didn't see it, which sent a chill down my spine and directly to my stomach, and went to check. More chills. He came back a few minutes later and told me that my order slip had fallen on the floor and they were just starting my order. Ordinarily I probably would have left as it was now about an hour that I had waited. Add in the half hour prior to place my order. But after having watched the owner deal with the chaos with such a pleasant manner I thought, ok, what the hell, s**t happens. My wife and dogs were ok in the car and it was still pouring so I waited the extra time. Eventually the owner came out with a huge box of food and said that not only was he going to cut a break on the price, he threw in some extra food. He didn't have to do this, and I have been to many places where it wouldn't have occurred to the people to even apologize let alone offer something tangible. But even more valuable the man said "Don't give up on us." Wow. I won't that's for damn sure. The food was excellent, and will be for lunch because it wasn't possible to finish what we had. Especially at 10PM. I highly recommend this restaurant not just for the food which is incredible, but more so because the people there really make an effort to care if you have a good experience. Terrible service, the staff was rude and took a long time to acknowledge and seat us even though there weren't many other customers in the restaurant. We maintained an open mind and gave him the benefit of the doubt...yes we waited to be seated. Wrong choice! We should have left. He did not greet us to reset the tone after seating us. Again we gave him the benefit of the doubt and placed an order. We were looking forward to eating and he came back with our drinks. There was a simple misunderstanding with what I had ordered. I wanted a hot coffee and he brought over a cold coffee. When I explained that I wanted a hot coffee the waiter become clearly agitated and rolled his eyes. He said, "excuse me but you said you wanted a cold coffee" I looked at him and explained, "no I wanted a hot coffee." With an attitude he walked away with aggressive body language and flamboyant facial expressions to get the hot coffee. After experiencing all that there was no way I was going to eat from there yet alone drink a cup of coffee. I was really hoping that the restaurant would become a good place to get some pho as I usually drive into the city for a good bowl of the tasty meal but this was not the spot. Im sure everyone's experience is different as I've read great reviews about this restaurant which made me come here in the first place. Unfortunately my experience was the worst. It's all about the Pho. That's what they put on the marquee and that's the only thing that I've had here and they do it the best. So may options to suit everyone's liking. I've never had a bad pho before but I could say that the pho I got here is by far my least favorite. I got the chicken pho and the chicken was impossible to enjoy. The chicken was very hard to chew, it had absolutely no flavor and the pho had too much broth that it wasn't very appealing. My best friend and I recently tried out this new restaurant for lunch on a Tuesday. It just opened up a few weeks ago, but there were no opening kinks during our visit. We decided to go crazy in our ordering and go for broke; mostly so that we didn't have to be plagued by indecisiveness. We ordered two appetizers, two entrees, and split a sandwich. Possibly ridiculous, I know, but don't judge me too hard. I bet you would have done the same. We started with the golden bags and the chicken lettuce wraps. The golden bags (of deliciousness) were very crispy and flavorful. As were the chicken lettuce wraps, which were a great lunch time appetizer. The portion was not overwhelming at all, so it was perfect for two best buds to share at lunch. Entrees were definitely the star of the show! My favorite was the broken rice combo. Came with grilled shrimp, really juicy chicken (thighs, I think?), and a porkchop. Broken rice really seems to be very small pieces of rice. All the meat was delicious, and plentiful, and the plate was visually appealing. I am not a fan of unnecessary pieces of vegetables intended as garnish, but there they were anyway. If you're going to put one piece of tomato and one piece of cucumber on a plate that doesn't need tomato and cucumber, at least put a couple pieces of iceberg and pretend it's a salad! We also ordered the make your own combo pho, with three meats that my friend picked out when I wasn't paying attention. It was about $9 for a bowl that was literally twice the size of my abnormally large face. Really tasty and comforting. Lastly, we decided to split a pork bahn mi. No, I'm not kidding, we really split two appetizers and three meals. The bahn mi was good, but not the best sandwich I've ever had. It would make a good light lunch, as it's about 8-10 inches long, and like all other bahn mi's that I've seen, it's not meant to force you into a nap afterwards. But at only $5.50, it's a steal. The location is not sparse, but not overly decorated or inviting. It's simply comfortable and simple. It makes a good spot for friends or well established couples to go out and have some food for the soul. While it's a BYO, it's not a place for a romantic first date. Our server was also very sweet and helped us make our choices. There were two servers on during lunch, and I appreciated that they worked together as a team to help each other's tables as well. With the combo of low prices, yummy food, and being a BYOB, I will definitely be back. read more

2017 Update: This place changed ownership and management and is now inedible, which makes me really sad. Their food do not taste fresh. The soup taste like it was cooked the day before, and the meat also taste as if it's been reheated. It's pretty disgusting, to be honest. The previous owner is no longer there, so I can only assume that it has been sold. I'm really sad that people are giving this place such bad reviews. I love this place. It's almost impossible to find good Vietnamese food without going into the city, but this place is awesome. I love their pork chops; a perfectly marinated slab of deliciousness, but one complaint -- sometimes, you get a huge, bully-filing portion, but other times, you get a stingy portion that's probably still enough but doesn't make my stomach happy. Their bah mi is not the best I've had, but it's still very good. I'm not a big fan of lunch meat of any sort, so I get the pork bah mi. Their pho, again, not the best I've had, but still, very good. The bowls are huge, too big actually, even in our bigger-is-better society, the bowls could probably be smaller, especially if that improves the quality of the broth. In summary, go check out this place and write some great reviews because if this place closes, my too-lazy-to-go-downtown-for-Vietnamese-rear will be sad! read more

first thoughts of walking in here...looks a bit dinky and looks like the place used to be a diner. Now that that's out of the way, the food here is very good. Portion sizes are big enough to get you full and satisfied. I ordered the pho deluxe and my friend got the vermicelli with the spring roll and beef. For the price point, definitely cheaper than the pho places around, but it is out of the way since norristowns more north and I don't really venture towards that area. Service was a bit slow since they had 2 people running the whole place at the time. For me, not the best I've had and not the worst. We've been to this place about six times so far, and I think last night was the last time for us. When we first went, it was novel to have a Vietnamese option so close by. The food wasn't great, but it was at least inoffensive and a reminder of what we used to enjoy fairly often at the end of a long drive to the city. The food quality has gotten progressively worse, as has the service. Last night we had seafood pho, pork buns, cha gio, chicken satay, and cafe sua da. Insipid doesn't accurately describe the broth in the soup, which tasted like the runoff from cleaning the floor at a Gorton's processing plant. The cha gio were old, stale, and undercooked. The pork belly was unidentifiable as pork, and tasted absolutely unseasoned. The cafe sua da was crammed into the smallest to go cup possible over microscopic crushed ice. It tasted like it had been made three days ago and then put up in a jug. I can't vouch for the chicken. My wife guarded it quite jealously, so it must at least have been innocuous. Service? Our impolite waiter was more interested in playing hide and seek. I asked for fish sauce to try and add some flavor to the pho and got a sneer and the passing comment that it "WAS ON The table." That's my graphic attempt to try and represent the Doppler effect as he rocketed around an empty restaurant, trying to seem occupied. Note: there was no fish sauce on the table. $40 for this? Save your skrilla and run up to Saigon on Rt. 309, or break down and plan a Philly excursion. read more

I love the quality of the food here. I got the broken rice with grilled shrimp and it was absolutely perfect. I can't wait to come back here. My dad likes the tom yum pho. This building used to house the China Inn which is a restaurant I went to a lot while growing up in Audubon. The food was great, but the service? Not so much. We were promptly seated at a booth, but unfortunately we thought the booth smelled a little like poop. So we asked our waiter if we can move to a different table. He started arguing with us about why we needed to switch tables, even though the restaurant had several empty tables he could have seated us at. Eventually we just gave up and stayed at the poop table. Also, every time we asked for a condiment he would always roll his eyes and then sashay away to get what we asked for. It was quite unprofessional, really. The food was pretty good. I wasn't a fan of the vegetable egg rolls, they had a sort of grainy texture to them which was very unfamiliar and unwelcome. However, we ordered the vegetables and tofu pho and it was delicious! Huge portions, and I mean huge. It's probably 3 days worth of meals for me. For my friend who wanted a non-vegetarian broth, they were happy to substitute chicken broth and fried tofu instead of silken tofu. We also ordered a vermicelli bowl, which was also very good and served in a giant portion. I swear, these bowls are larger than my head. Crazy. Overall nice place. We came here last night to check it out as we're always on the lookout for good Asian food in the area. I had the Pho Deluxe, my wife had the chicken with broccoli, and we both had the Thai egg rolls. The Pho was pretty good, but I felt like it skimped a bit on the meat. The bowl was mostly noodles. The flavor was alright though. The chicken and broccoli, however, was kind of boring and generic. There was nothing to separate it from all the other chicken and broccoli dishes out there. The dish was also smaller than I expected, and def. wouldn't be a family share type thing. The Thai spring rolls were really tasty. They had the good flaky shell that rolls should have. Overall, everything tasted fresh, it all came out in a timely fashion, and the temperature was good. In terms of price, this place could be about 10%-15% cheaper. The food is good, but it's not quite good enough given the portion size. I will come again simply because it's the closest Pho to my house and come winter, it will be wanted. The restaurant is new, though, so hopefully they will improve with time. read more

I've been looking for a pho place in the burbs after moving out of the city. The weather was slowly getting colder, so I figured a warm bowl of Pho would hit the spot for lunch. When you walk in, this place doesn't look too appealing. We almost turned around because everything looks so run down. It it weren't for yelp reviews, I wouldn't have given this place a chance. Chicken Pho Big bowl of pho. Way to many onions. Bland broiled chicken. I put tons of beans, sriracha, basil, etc which made the broth taste delicious. The chicken however taste so bland and awful, that I didn't even make it through one piece. I guess the only flavorful option here is typical pho with beef. Stir fried lemongrass vermicelli So much food. The bowl is packed with a lot of plain vermicelli, so we couldn't get through it all cuz it tasted like dry bland noodles. The chicken, shrimp and beef were all made very well. The salad was cheap browned lettuce that had a bitter taste to it. Service was decent. A lot of options on the menu. They put a bowl of fish oil on our table which almost made me gag. The food just lacks flavor, but maybe that's just how it's supposed to be? read more

This place is PHOTASTIC! We love it! Great selections of Vietnamese, Thai & Chinese. Some of my go to favorite apps are the Summer Rolls & Golden Bags. For entrees, I like spice, so I usually go Green Curry, & Drunken Noodles.The broken rice dishes are also super tasty. My wife loves the Vermicilli. I tried their Pho (rice noodle soup with fresh bean sprouts, basil, jalapeno & lime). It was my first experience with the dish and I thought the broth was very well seasoned and tasted great but the beef was a big tough. I also love the hot chili paste offered on the tables, great spice! The service is good, always prompt however, personality could improve. But I did notice manager/owner (I think) visiting tables during some of our visits. Also good to note that they are BYOB with very nice wine glasses. read more

The first time I went here, I would give it 5 stars. Both my mom and mother in law are from Vietnam, so i know my viet food! The pho was great the first time, full of flavor, well balanced. The shaking beef was really well flavored, with watercress and all! The second time I went, the pho was a watered down bit of disappointment. The place was kinda dirty too, with food on my napkin from some previous meal, and dirty silverware. Even though the place looks shabby, the front window has a gunshot in it, I used to like this place. The prices are more expensive than most Thai restaurants ($14+tax for Pad Thai) I thought it was worth it. During the past few months, several online orders never made It to the restaurant and I would arrive with nothing prepared and not even an apology. This week, I ordered ahead a whole 30 minutes; I arrive and pay still have to wait. After several minutes waiting, I ask and they say two orders are ahead of me. No apology, as usual, just as excuse that the normal cook is away for the month. Over it. Don't waste your time and for how the place looks it should be cheaper. Went a week ago with a friend for dinner on a Saturday. Ordered the pho deluxe. I've eaten at many pho restaurants in the area but nothing was as good as the pho restaurants in North Philly. However, Pho Kitch'n has really blown me away. The service was great, the pho was aromatic and flavorful, and the prices are good too. The broth to noodle ratio was good as well, as they didn't cheapen the dish by using tons of broth. They only opened recently but they are off to a fantastic start. I WILL be returning to try the banh mi. I would not hesitate recommending the Pho to anyone. I'm so glad there is now something so good, so close to where I live. read more

Pho veggies sometimes dont look fresh, but they are usually okay. My only complaint is that sometimes the broth tastes quite salty, probably from boiling for too long.
