Ordered take out and the food was delicious and the portions were good. I've only tried bun bo hue once prior from a different place and I liked how this one wasn't so sweet. This one isn't very oily either. I also really like their pork vermicelli (and now my kids love this too) as someone who used to only order vermicelli. I like how the veggies are never brown and are crisp and fresh, always. Something that surprised me was the amount of meat in my bun bo hue, it just kept appearing from under my bowl so I had meat throughout my noodle consumption from beginning to end. My mom loves pho and every time we hang out, she always wants to get some - we were in the area and I thought the perfect spot for her was Pho Lovers because of the name and it had great ratings/reviews. Came here on a rainy day and it hit the spot. The restaurant was large and clean. I had the meatball pho, asked for extra side of sliced onions, and Vietnamese iced coffee. The broth is great, it's a little on the oily side but i think that's what makes it authentic! I usually can't finish a whole bowl but it was so delicious I actually finished the entire thing! I was craving for Vietnamese shaking beef yesterday and have been this restaurant for several times before for the plate. Even though the food is still with quality, I won't recommend anyone come here due to the dishonest from this business. 1. They charged almost 4% if paid with credit with no minimum order. 2. I was fooled by the pictures shown on Yelp and can not been more disappointed. First off, their prices are not the cheapest. Which would be fair if the food was food. We ordered 2 large bowls of pho. At $17/pho, they only give you one small tray of basil and 4 small pieces of lime. Heres the kicker. There is an extra charge for additional lime and basil. I came here on a Saturday afternoon for lunch with three other friends. The interior was decorated lavishly. We were immediately seated. I ordered the chicken pho and two of my other friends ordered the #11 pho with oxtail. The servers were kind and checked up on us often to see if we were reading to order. The food came out very quickly with bean sprouts, basil, lemon, and some very fresh jalapeño on the side. The jalapeños were definitely spicier than some jalapeños I have eaten. The broth was delicious and savory, the noodles and chicken as you would expect. My friends did not seem to like the oxtail too much. Some were tender, some weren't. This is located in a non descriptive strip center with a Mi Ranchito Mexican market and Maude laundromat. Parking is a bit of a mess as all the stores in the area try to claim to park only to use their services. Since PL has very few spots I didn't listen to those warnings and didn't get any ticket so park at your own risk. Inside is like any normal pho joint. Pleasant but slightly tacky interior with the numbered tables, lots of plastic spoons and chopsticks in their holders, and the condiments of fish sauce rooster sauce salt and pepper. Lady first tried to take the orders put soon realized she doesn't understand English well enough so calls out to a guy who doesn't look Asian but more of Mexican heritage. Glass he took over because asking for where the vegan Ramen was met with a blank stare. Finally found the veggie ramen on the back of the menu kind of hidden with all the other menu items. Turns out they had two vegan options. One was a regular Pho and one was Bun Bo Hue but instead comes with tofu and veggies. Since I like spicy I got that one and looking over the menu I saw they make fresh thicker wider noodles you can sub out for $.75 which seemed worth doing since I'm picky when it comes to noodles and these looked good. All in All the pho here is a bit pricey at like $13 compared to let's say east SJ but I'm Ok with that if it's tasty. They also seem to nickel and dime you if you want more topping like sprouts but I was able to convince the waiter to give me a tray of basil and didn't charge me extra. The normal default for the soup is mint which just ok but not my favorite herb in the world. By the way most of the people dining here are Asian which is a good sign in my book. Got my bowl of noodles with the condiments and was pretty impressed. Small plate not only had sprouts but shaved cabbage both purple and green and some jalapeños and a half lime which actually wasn't hard as a rock like other pho joints. The soup had a nice layer of fatty spicy oil on top and the soup was quite a large size. Noodles were nirvana super soft and pillowy but also firm and didn't fall apart. Broth was on point and tasty for a veggie based broth. Loved the tofu here especially when bathed in the spicy oil on top. Veggies were fresh and plentiful with broccoli cabbage and onions And the mixed in sprouts and jalapeños made it taste as Yelp says if my review so far "pretty epic";) My only slight complaint but not worth removing a star was all the meat pho options give you two sizes small and large but with the veggie pho you can only get a large. Normally I get a small as it's enough for me since all those noodles and veggies are filling and I'm not one to take pho leftovers. Basically I left about 1/4 of my soup not eaten so a smaller size would be a nice option. Other than that it's hard to say anything negative about this place. We were on vacation to Great America and this was the 3rd location we went to from what we saw on Yelp. The broth here is very flavorful they are decent with their meat portions. I didn't like the fact that there were no condiments on the tables. Didn't know you had to ask for chili oil and other stuff. This place was a bit over priced as well about $15 for a small bowl of Pho. I had to ask my waiter 3 times for my Diet Coke and there were only 3 tables occupied when we were there (not yet busy at all). There was also another incident that happened but, not going to bring it up on here since the issue has been resolved. I would likely come back because they have good Pho. Pho Lovers is located in a pretty ghetto corner of Sunnyvale, adjacent to a fairly nice Mexican market. This place is poppin' during lunch hours and extremely cramped inside. And yet, they only have about 5 meager parking spots outside (and a security guard believe it or not monitoring the parking lot to ensure no one parks illegally in the spots dedicated to the Mexican store). Finding good pho is tough anywhere north of SJ. I ventured 30 minutes here and don't think it was worth the trip. The noodles were a bit sandy and grainy, there was hardly any meat, and the ox tail I ordered was tough, mostly bone, and tasteless. On the up side, the broth was pretty good but there might have been a lot of MSG. The spring rolls were average, actually mostly on the tasteless side too. Quick service despite how popular it is during lunch. Sub-par pho. Not worth visiting unless you're in the area. read more

Excellent stop if you're in the mood for pho. The broth is consistently clear and flavorful. Portions for all of their dishes are about average but always satisfying. My favorite items on the menu are the garlic noodles, Bun Rieu (crab balls, tofu, tomatoes w/vermicelli), and Goi Cuon (spring rolls). The flavor was all there and I really enjoyed it. Shaken beef with garlic noodle: This dish was HUGE. Look at the attached image with the dish next to a dip plate for size comparison. It was sharable between 3 people. The beef was good, but the garlic noodles were alright. Next time, I'd order this with red rice. Vermicelli dish: This came with a lot of meat and 1 egg roll! This is one of my favorite places for pho in the area and my go-to spot when I'm starting to feel sick and just want to find an excuse to eat pho! I've come here a number of times and love bringing friends here, who always leave happy. I usually get the Pho Ga (which is amazing!), but also looove the garlic noodles. If you are watching the carbs, I recommend getting half noodles (for pho), which you still end up with a large amount of food. The service is not bad, but nothing to rave about. In terms of the wait, weekday lunches can get a bit busy, so I recommend planning accordingly and leaving a little earlier. If you're in the area, definitely come check it out! read more
