COCKROACHES. I was excited to try this Vietnamese restaurant after hearing good things, but my experience was extremely disappointing. The food took a long time to arrive, and while the pho had decent flavor, the cleanliness of the restaurant completely overshadowed the meal. During dinner, I noticed what appeared to be a cockroach moving along the wall near the dining area. A little later, I saw another one near the floor by the restroom hallway. After seeing that, I lost my appetite and couldn't finish my meal. We stopped by for an early dinner on a Thursday, and it wasn't very busy. There's plenty of street parking nearby, and we were seated immediately. The interior is a little dark, but the Vietnamese-inspired décor adds a nice touch. From certain angles, it almost feels like you're dining on the streets of Vietnam. Their tables and chairs were made of bamboo. They even had mini kit table bamboo if you're interested to do the Vietnamese squat while eating lol. The staff was friendly, attentive, and provided good service throughout our meal. The menu is fairly simple without an overwhelming number of choices. Everyone in our group ordered pho, which comes in regular or large sizes. I usually order a large, but since we'd been restaurant hopping all day, I chose the regular instead. To my surprise, the regular portion was very filling. I finished the bowl but was definitely full afterward. The pho had a good, comforting flavor. While the broth wasn't quite as rich or deeply flavored as my homemade pho, it was still good. Considering there aren't a lot of Asian dining options in the area, Pho Lucky is worth visiting if you're craving a simple bowl of pho. Love the vibe and decor in here. All the staff were very kind and helpful. The pho broth was flavorful, I just wish they were a bit more generous with the beef. Food: compared to what I'm used to out in California, this place was not up to par. It's overpriced for the area, the large is not worth it (more meat? Nah), and they charge extra for jalapeños. Here is your warning: the inside of the restaurant is very warm. I don't know if they aren't running their air conditioning to save money or to give a more authentic experience, but I was sweating profusely throughout my meal. The decor was nice though and made me feel like I was back in Vietnam. I ordered a large P1. I was disappointed with how little meat they gave and for $20 it was not worth it. They also didn't give a lot of noodles. My dish was mostly broth and the broth is bland and flavorless. They need to use better cuts of beef and utilize more yellow fat and better quality beef bones to make their broth more rich. Honestly they probably give the same amount of food in the "regular" pho and just put it inside a smaller bowl. Service was bad, but this was to be expected. Overall disappointing, but they are the only Vietnamese restaurant in town, so if you need your fix, this is it. read more

Pho Lucky is one of the few places in Detroit to get decent pho. You get a filling bowl of noodles and meat with your pho. There are other authentic dishes to try from their appetizers and rice plates I think the quality has declined slightly from several years ago. I received more noodles and meat before, but that seems to be a problem at a lot of restaurants with the increase in the cost of food. This is the best place to go for the beginning of fall, winter, or even if you feel a little cold inside and need something to warm your belly. This was the first pho place I've tried in Detroit and I'm in love! We went here before the concert because it's fairly close to Little Caesars Arena. The service was amazing here and upon entering, the owner chatted with us and was very friendly. The space was nicely decorated with Vietnamese decor. Very good spot to dine just a short distance from Little Caesars Arena and close to parts of Wayne State. I'm not from the area and the option to enjoy Pho is limited in my community. This was a great experience. The broth was very tasty, vegetables fresh, service very good. There are options with every dish, so many dietary restrictions can be accommodated. I tried a vermicelli noodle bowl with pork and the flavors were nicely balanced. Most of the group tried the "P1" or basic beef Pho, some for the first time. Everybody enjoyed the meal. Ample portions. The summer rolls we ordered as an appetizer were awesome. While I don't get to order Pho very often I have had it in different cities in the States and this was very good. If you're a first timer to a Pho restaurant the staff is super helpful on both ordering as well as 'how' to try various sauces and such with your dish. Ended up finding this gem while attending a concert at the LCA. Located just three blocks from there and nearby parking lots, it was ideal to grab a meal before the concert. Although they have a somewhat limited menu they have several Pho options. The owner (Mr. Hung) was nice enough to come to our table and gave us a few suggestions on what to order. I asked him what was in the Yelp checkin offer (complimentary shot) and he explained it's a house-made concoction that is well received by many. I have to agree. Very tasty.
