Large P1 (not worth the price, very little meat, not a lot of noodles, watery/bland broth)

Here is your warning: the inside of the restaurant is very warm. I don't know if they aren't running their air conditioning to save money or to give a more authentic experience, but I was sweating profusely throughout my meal. The decor was nice though and made me feel like I was back in Vietnam. I ordered a large P1. I was disappointed with how little meat they gave and for $20 it was not worth it. They also didn't give a lot of noodles. My dish was mostly broth and the broth is bland and flavorless. They need to use better cuts of beef and utilize more yellow fat and better quality beef bones to make their broth more rich. Honestly they probably give the same amount of food in the "regular" pho and just put it inside a smaller bowl. Service was bad, but this was to be expected. Overall disappointing, but they are the only Vietnamese restaurant in town, so if you need your fix, this is it.

My bestie and I were in town for a concert and were on the hunt for brunch the next morning. After being met with long wait times, I suggested we look for something else. On a freezing cold day, there's no better choice than Pho. Pho Lucky didn't disappoint. We were seated immediately, the staff was friendly, the pho was solid. A nice portion as well. I was also happy to see Bahn Mi on the menu. The roll was crispy yet soft and the meat and veggies had a good flavor. I would come back.

I thought this place was great. The inside is very nice. The rolls were amazing and the pho was great too! I wish the broth had a little bit more flavor, but overall it was good. The service was fast as well and everyone was kind.

Pho Lucky is one of the few places in Detroit to get decent pho. You get a filling bowl of noodles and meat with your pho. There are other authentic dishes to try from their appetizers and rice plates I think the quality has declined slightly from several years ago. I received more noodles and meat before, but that seems to be a problem at a lot of restaurants with the increase in the cost of food. Please refer to my photos from 2021 compared to 2024 to see the difference. Overall, it's a nice place for lunch in midtown. I like the ambiance and the service is friendly. There is free street parking available if you can find it along the restaurant and around the block.

Ordered take out! Asked for instructions over the phone and they were so helpful! It's pretty inside and a convenient location.

Amazing food!! Very large portion sizes. Very authentic pho with the tastiest and spiciest chili oil. Service was very friendly and food came out fast. I believe it was the owner walking around and mingling with customers. Nice decor and convenient spot downtown. Will be back next time we're in Detroit!

My pho was delicious and fast! Friendly server. I absolutely loved the environment and building layout. I only wish they would update their menu online being that I chose this spot on google thinking "wow this place has really good, competitive prices" and arrived to a difference. I hope to still comeback!

Pho Lucky is easily my go to spot for a nice cozy bowl of pho. They serve all the extra additions on the side so you could add as much or as little of anything that you would like. The staff is super friendly and the broth itself is very light and flavorful with noodles are tender and not overcooked. All around amazing

This was the first pho place I've tried in Detroit and I'm in love! We went here before the concert because it's fairly close to Little Caesars Arena. The service was amazing here and upon entering, the owner chatted with us and was very friendly. The space was nicely decorated with Vietnamese decor. This was also the first Vietnamese restaurant I've been to that had a bar! I got the com suon which is pork chop served with rice, an egg, and pickled vegetables. My friend had pho chin which is pho with cooked beef. We both had an amazing experience and highly recommend this place!

Came here last night with my fiancé and really enjoyed the food! We ordered the wings appetizer to share and I got the P1 pho as the main order with a Vietnamese iced coffee. The wings were made with fish sauce, so I wasn't sure how much I'd like it, but I actually enjoyed them a lot. The pho was incredible and the broth packed a ton of flavor. We were able to walk in without any reservations and were seated with no wait. This is definitely a great place to go on a cold night for a warm pho! It is right on Woodward close to the LCA, so you may have to search a bit for parking if it's a busy game night.

Located between Little Caesars Arena and MSU/Wayne State Campuses. Great for small or big groups. Service is super quick and friendly. The Pho is always delicious! Pho Prices are about $15 for regular and $17 for large. The regular is huge.

Loved the decor here. Very traditional in many aspects, really added to the great Vietnamese vibe. Our food came quick and with great service. The broth was excellent in the phó, id definitely return.

Looking for a quick and convenient place to eat before the game or concert? Great Vietnamese food/Pho noodles restaurant - (location very close to LCA) Fresh food, friendly staff, reasonable price.

Are there menu options that would be safe for someone with a peanut allergy?

Their menu isn't large, so just make sure that you ask your server about your peanut allergy. Being that I don't have an allergy, I didn't look closely at the menu. I would make a visit if you're close by to check it out. It's worth it, cause it's…

I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE!…read more This is my third time coming here, and the service has been consistently poor. The first two times, I ordered over the phone, then drove 20 minutes to pick up two mango smoothies, only to wait 43 minutes after arriving. There were barely any customers, so waiting over an hour total was completely unreasonable. Today was even worse. My boyfriend ordered summer rolls and spring rolls and clearly specified multiple times that we only wanted shrimp, since I have a severe pork allergy. He drove 30 minutes from work, only to be told the order still wasn't ready and had to wait another 18 minutes. When he got home, I checked the food (as I always do) and found pork in my "only shrimp" summer rolls. I called, and they told us to bring them back and they would remake them right away. We drove another 20 minutes back, only to wait an additional 18 minutes because, once again, the food was not ready. This place is overpriced, understaffed, and unreliable. More importantly, they do not take food allergies seriously, which is unacceptable.

This place is absolutely my vibe. The staff are fantastic, friendly, and very skilled at their jobs. Beverages were refilled, we were checked in with, and felt taken care of. The real star of the show was the food. I came with two of my sons, and we all really enjoyed our ramen bowls. Hubby and I laughed at how many times we zipped past the restaurant without noticing it. My husband and I both ordered the Major Tom Khatsu, which has a coconut chicken broth base. The chicken katsu pieces were the perfect level of crispy without being heavily breaded. There was also a nice little kick to the dish, which made it so, so yummy. Our friends got the Shoyu ramen with pork belly, and the Corned Beef ramen. The Shoyu dish seemed to be more enjoyable. Though we stuck with water, cans of Faygo pop seemed to be the drink offerings - other than alcoholic beverages. Areas for improvement include the waiting. Johnny Noodle King is a small place, with a main dining area and then what seems to be a bar area attached. We initially waited by the door for our table along with another small group (we were a party of four). We were then asked to go to the bar area to wait so that it would clear the door, but found it interesting how we were asked to move but not the other group. Also, we were standing away from the doormat we were not obstructing anyone's movements. The wait was long, and we asked if we could order food to the bar area (as opposed to waiting for a table). We were told 'no', yet there was a table full of patrons who were eating. There was no notification system, so our friend had to keep going to the front to see if our table was ready. Don't get me wrong; 'hooray' to Johnny Noodle King for having such great business volume. However, they need a way to manage it so that people will not be put off. Once we were seated, we did have good service from our waitstaff, and the food was very good. My husband and I plan to return to explore more of the menu. Hopefully, we can pick a time of day when waiting won't be such a big issue.
