    Vietnamese Beef Stew
    Lizeth S.

When the memory gods do you a solid and you ACTUALLY take pictures of the best Vietnamese beef stew in the city!! I think coming here for a couple of years and always digging before remembering. Vietnamese bò kho (beef stew) is packed with tender, fall-apart braised chunks of beef loaded with herbs, aromatics and a delicious broth that will have you coming back with more baguette to dip in this broth. This is my favorite dish here but honestly, I tried this one and stopped ordering anything else so I can really vouch for the rest.

Ok let me start by a saying I went 2 times in a week because I loved it my 1st time. Me and my husband both were like oh yeah, but then we went the second time and I don't know what went on but it was like we went to a different restaurant. The first time it was so delicious and big portions that we were craving it so much we had to go back. The second time was a huge disappointment! His shaken beef with fried rice was like eating grease. Also the first time we went food came out quickly and fresh. Second time we had to wait 30 minutes and then had to remind them 2 times we had not gotten anything, even our drinks. Also I ordered a pork bahn mi the second time and it was lacking meat! I feel like I was just eating bread and cucumbers. Also there were no clean tables and had to ask for them to clean some off. They looked seriously lost the second time we went.

I ordered 4 egg rolls and beef pho ... the pho was fine broth was fine but I'm not sure what's wrong with this egg roll ?? I called and they just said oh it's probably over cooked or we probably used a different kind of rice paper. Probably won't be going back UPDATE: THEY CALLED ME BACK ! About 20 minutes after i called i received a call from the restaurant i explained that i had already spoken to someone and they gave me the 2 reasons above. The woman asked me to "take down my review because its incorrect" at that time i had only posted the pictures and the first short paragraph. I told her that the review was not incorrect and that it was my opinion and that I would not be taking it down and she continued to argue with me about the eggrolls. I asked her if this is how they treat first time customers? she said "there's nothing wrong with the eggroll it taste the same it's only a different price paper" she continued to go back and forth .I told her again that I wouldn't be taking down the review but that I would be editing it to include her disrespectful conversation. Needless to say i WILL NOT BE RETURNING TO THIS ESTABLISHMENT

Delicious Surprise!! Was referred here by a co-worker but was not expecting it to be as good as it was. This place is ducked off in this shopping center and definitely is a gem of the area. I was recommended here based on a whole fried chicken meal that smelled amazing everyone's every time my co-worker got it. The chicken here is fried and seasoned well. I've had it a couple of times now. The fried rice is good as well but maybe a little overcooked. Vegetables were cool as well. The chicken tastes great!! Only knock is all the bones but can't be too mad since it's a whole chicken at an amazing price. There is a nice vibe in the place as well. Had a cool modern feel inside. Look forward to trying something else off the menu.

Decided to grab take out as it was suggested by fellow yelper. Huge plus. Get away from krappy chinese & come here. Very clean on the inside. Food: Fried rice & whole marinated fried chicken: My goodness, this is the 3rd best fried rice I've had in Houston. Not bad, not bad at all, fluffy, tender but not mushy or overcooked, flaky, packed with everything! Eggs, onions, carrots, peas & no shortage of any it. Not greasy or heavy. You can't stop eating it, LOL it's GOOD!!! The marinated fried chicken very tender, crispy skin on the outside. Not sure what it was marinated in because it didn't have much flavor & seasoning. But the cooking technique made up for the lack of flavor. It was still delightful & filling. Definitely will be ordering from here again before a run down chinese place. Fresh quality food that tastes like it was cooked with love wins everytime. This place does that. Enjoy!

I couldn't believe Pho Tina has become my lunchroom during the days I work. I'm here almost every week to fulfill my Vietnamese food crave. Service is superb. They never miss a beat. After my previous review, the owner Jackie showed me how to drink their boba milk teas. I had to shake vigorously to mix cream and tea. It's okay. My desire is more on the food then the drinks. Recently I had a fantastic catering experience at Pho Tina Noodle House. They met my schedule and quality above my expectations. My event went successful and my guests were extremely satisfied. They even wanted to meet Tina. (Compared to their competitors, Pho Hoa catering gave me a below-average experience.) In case you don't know, we Yelpers talk to each other about our foodie experiences very often. My friend David N and I both agree food has improved since its opening. This was another reason I am a regular to Pho Tina because the owner listened to feedbacks and suggestions from its customers. People often asked what's my favorite. Everything on the menu is my favorite, but I can't eat everything. So I order depending on my mood and weather: If it's cold outside, I get filet mignon pho - tender beef with delicious broth and a hot chanh muoi (salty lemonade). If it's hot, I want my goi coun (summer roll) with iced cold chanh muoi (salty lemonade) or grilled chicken banh mi (Vietnamese sandwich) with taro smoothie. If I'm lazy, I'll ask waitress what's good. Food is always on point with my tastebuds.

The food was good. Shaken beef and fried egg rolls but they need to update the menu prices on/line!

I'm so glad we got a new Vietnamese restaurant in our area. There are already a lot of Vietnamese options but none of them are all that amazing. This place has the best eggrolls in my opinion. You can tell they are hand-rolled fresh, and packed with flavor. I got the filet pho and the meat was so tender! I can't wait to come back and try the other options.

The restaurant is very well designed. Feels like a very good place to have food. I went in just to get a Vietnamese coffee. I thought it was pretty weird that their whole tea/coffee menu is under $5 but they have a $5 minimum on credit cards. So if you are just buying a single drink you have to pay in cash. I didn't have cash so they asked me to buy spring roles, which I did. The coffee was good, although it was very small (see the picture). Its a very thin glass but tall. The rolls were bland and tasteless, maybe that's how they are supposed to be. Overall, wouldn't come again.

You order at the cash register and the menu has quite a large selection of dumplings and buns. You seat yourself and there is a station with cups, a water dispenser, plates and chopsticks. The liangpi is the reason I come to this restaurant. The noodles have an amazing texture and it pairs perfectly with the bean sprouts, cucumber and cilantro. The sesame sauce brings everything together and it's amazingly refreshing and hearty at the same time. The pork leek dumplings have a delicious filling and the wrapper is very clearly handmade with a delicate chew. The pan fried buns were also quite yummy with a golden crispy bottom and fluffy exterior. My diagnosis: come here for the best liangpi and well made dumplings and buns

The got nice wall art too, depicting the popular dishes from the north so I had my expectation and hopes up. Service is ordinary, she speaks little English but can get by ordering, we order first at the counter the sit anywhere. Braised egg is 2 for $3.50, salty but expected since it's marinated. Came out steaming hot, and yolk was not overly cooked and dry, not bad. Starting with the Chinese hamburger I felt sad and know not to expect too much from the other dishes we ordered. First the meat look different than what others have posted before, and it was kinda dry and too salty to eat. There was no other spice, only the meat juice flavor. The bun they use was stale to eat. Traditional way of making this should be the flaky oily pancake, or at least make the buns softer to eat. The mutton stew was clear and very heartwarming to drink on a cold day. But the portion is super small for the price. The glass noodles were gone in literally two bites. I had none to share with my boyfriend. This dish come with the burger bun too that you can soak them in the soup so I guess this is the extra carb make up for the less noodles. Oil splash noodle is their specialty? It was good but didn't wowed me. Noodles are chewy and well cooked, came with lots of bean sprouts. The sauce is flavorful and actually not too oily which I enjoyed more. You can add the beef for an extra charge, it's the regular braised beef, was just ok. I find it funny that their all food arts on the wall look nothing like the actual way they serve it.

5 Stars - Authentic Szechuan that absolutely nails the classics…read more During our short trip to Houston, as a custom, we were determined to find real Szechuan food, and luckily we found Hu's Kitchen. The location is a bit unassuming, and parking is definitely tough (the spaces are very shallow), but the second we walked through the doors and smelled the Szechuan peppercorns, I knew we were in exactly the right place. I generally judge a Szechuan restaurant by their 夫妻肺片 (Fuqi Feipian)--which they cleverly name "Mr. and Mrs. Smith" on the menu. They completely nailed it. The beef, tripe, and tendon were incredibly cohesive together, yet you could tell each component was prepared and marinated in a slightly different way to perfectly highlight its specific texture. The chili oil was right on the spot. We went through a massive bowl of rice just eating this dish alone. Honestly, if I weren't feeding a family of four, I could have just ordered that and been perfectly happy. While the Fuqi Feipian proves their skill with dry dishes, the 水煮魚片 (Fish in Szechuan Hot Chili Oil) proves their skill with wet ones. It's another must-order. The execution was flawless--we didn't just finish the tender fish chunks, we ate every last piece of cabbage soaked in that incredible chili broth. For my two daughters who can't handle the heat, we ordered the fried rice, garlic pork ribs with onion, and the 紅燒獅子頭 (Giant Meatball with Cabbage). The giant meatball was spectacular. The kids completely devoured it on their own, but I managed to steal a bite, and it instantly brought back childhood memories of exactly how this dish is supposed to taste. We also had the Dan Dan Noodles, which were great and rounded out the meal perfectly. I loved all of the dishes we tried. Should we ever find ourselves in Houston again, we will absolutely be revisiting this hidden gem.

No complaints here since we were starving from an 8 hour road trip. The Dan Dan Noodles...I had high expectations but sadly this dish fell short. I recommend Hu's Cooking to use a bigger bowl and more sauce because it was difficult to mix the noodles and the sauce wasn't...saucing, unfortunately. I wish there was more flavor in this dish. The Scallion Pancake was super over-fried and oily. See image in my review. The outer parts of the pancake were fried to a crisp and only a small circumference in the center stayed chewy. I know Chinese tends to be oily but this pancake soaked up way too much oil. Half a Peking duck: super great price for so much meat. The difficulty when eating this dish is gnawing the meat off the sharp bones of the duck. Mapo Tofu with white rice: pretty easy staple, no complaints here. Dinner on a Saturday was packed but we got seated quickly and food arrived fast.

Not many restaurants in Houston offer Takowasa, which is marinated raw octopus with wasabi; and when we find one that does, it's our must order for appetizers. The tofu was soft and lightly battered, however the downside is that it gets soggy quickly since it's sitting in the sauce rather than on the side. For our entrees, we got the carbonara, curry tonkatsu rice, niku tama ankake, and kakuni udon. The carbonara was nice and creamy. The curry rice tastes exactly like the Japanese box curry. The niku tama is more of a thicker soup base similar to egg drop soup, however has a more slightly sweet umami flavor. The kakuni udon had a lighter broth with braised pork belly.
