Decided this was the best half-way spot for me and my friend that goes to CSULB. Was a little hesitant from reading the other reviews, but since it was the only pho place around, decided to go for it. I got the pho tai (#3 on the menu) in a large bowl. One thing I will say is that their beef was REALLY fresh. I've never been to a pho place where they have that good/fresh of rare beef steak. Sadly that was the only thing positive about the bowl of pho. The noodles didn't taste like regular pho noodles and the soup was bland. Also, it seemed like I got a sad extra amount more for the large bowl rather than the medium bowl. There was a reason I ordered a large in the first place... I'm hungry! The bill was $15 something for one large bowl of pho, one medium bowl of pho and a Thai tea. So very reasonable among two people but not sure if it's worth sacrificing my taste buds. This place was ultimately disappointing. Some positive points were that the staff (seemingly a wife and a husband combo) were very nice and courteous. Yes, it's only A-OK. So I'm from Long Beach and when it comes to pho we have lots of options, so today when I was at work and it was chilly and rainy outside, all I could think about was some pho. Of course, I'm not from this area, so where else would I go to learn about a place? My fellow yelper's answered the call. I came across this place and it had mixed reviews. Mixed reviews are not always bad, there may be a chance I have a good experience. I arrived at the place and it looked promising, an "A" featured on the outside and the windows were clean. Looks good in my book. As soon as I found a seat, one of the workers asked me if I would mind sharing a table with someone else. Now if its packed inside, maybe, but there are two tables open, they can accommodate me. The hostess insisted that I share a table, I told her I would prefer to sit by myself. Then she proceeds to tell me that the lady that is sitting at the other table wants me to sit with her. I don't know this person! The lady is zoned into her food and watching tv, she is not even aware that I'm getting pushed over to her table. I tell the hostess no, I would really prefer to eat by myself. Finally that is behind me and now I can get back to accomplishing my task of getting some pho on a rainy day! Sadly when my plate arrived, the soup was just ok and there was a small amount of meat. I dug around for the noodles and there was a small batch at the bottom. Now when you are paying $7 for a medium size pho, you would think you can afford to really add some noodles. Come on, it's $7, you know it cost them less than two dollars to make the stuff, give me $0.10 more in noodles. So there it is... the lesson learned, if you REALLY are craving pho, and don't want to drive too far away then I guess this is it for this area. read more

I've been here three times, I'm gonna tell you about each visit. Here it goes.. 1. Came here for dinner with my husband and sister in law, ordered a seafood mix pho, BBQ beef spring rolls, BBQ beef and Rice. The pho came out quickly, and the spring rolls came out 20 minutes later, late..but okay. So my sister and I almost finished eating when my husband reminds the man that he never got his food, the man forgot to put the order in, so he didnt eat. I promptly asked for the check after he crosses out the rice plate, I pay and did NOT tip. 2. Don't know why, but we came here again.lk.my husband and I shared a beef mix pho and it came to us warm not hot and nothing in it was cooked. Everything was raw. I'm assuming because it wasn't hot. I tried the spring rolls again and what do you know, they forget to bring them to us. Seriously? Then they try to give them to us before I pay, which I refused. Once again dissatisfied and NO TIP! 3. YES..3RD TIME. we attempted this place again. We took both of our kids down, walked inside, sat down..it was 10 minutes before anyone noticed us sitting ..the man was watching videos on YouTube BTW..anyways, finally he came up and said they had run out of noodles and they are closed. Hmm..maybe turn the "open" sign off and close the door. Another waste of time, and I told him we would never be back again and I will spread the word of how shitty this place was. I really wanted to like you! I ordered the first time for a to-go order and when I brought it home, I was not excited over it. I thought that maybe it was because I had taken it to-go. My dad was feeling under the weather and since I love some pho when I am sick, I told him to try this spot. We got there and it was pretty busy, I was really hoping to love the broth this time. Definitely family owned and I can clearly see that. My dad and I were half-way through our soup (broth was better this time) when I saw a black dot moving on the table. At first I thought it was lint... then I moved the veggie plate and realized it was a small... roach. :( I was so disappointed. I give this place 3 stars due to the fact that there are no other Vietnamese restaurants in the area. The pho is ok. Didn't have much meat in it. Pho America in Long Beach kicks this places ass. They don't server spring rolls which I found disappointing. I ordered the Vietnamese fried egg rolls and they were not very good. Just had a strong smell to them that I did not find appeasing. I was kind of torn between giving this place 2 or 3 stars but I decided on the 3 because its in Whittier and there's no where else to get pho. Pho is okay. Service is good. At our office, we always order take out for lunch. We recently moved out to Santa Fe Springs from our old location in Gardena, and have been hunting for a good pho place to eat at. The service here is on par with most pho places. No pleasantries, just straight to business with your food; which is fine by me. I placed a phone order and asked for eight bowls of pho tai. However, when I went to pick it up, they had only made me one bowl of #8 (whatever that is). The server was very understanding and had eight bowls of the correct order made VERY quickly. When it comes to the actual pho though, it doesn't stand up to what I had hoped for. The broth has a slightly sleet, overly MSG flavor that me and my coworkers couldn't overlook. I'm not that picky when it comes to pho, but it was enough to turn this place off for me. I wanted to have some of my coworkers try pho for the first time so I took them here, a place I've never been to. The first thing I noticed was how welcoming the staff was here. I think this is a small family business, maybe?? The woman that worked there was so smiley and helpful. I ordered pho with all the works. In the perspective of someone who had grown up eating pho, I have to say that the pho was alright; the broth wasn't very tasty and they were kind of stingy on the meats. This place is super close by and it did scare me a little because it kind of looks like a dive, but those are always the best places to eat it. My mom recommended it to me, even though she had never eaten there, she said it was always crowded! I went in and the staff is pretty friendly. They usually get you seated immediately unless it is jam packed. Their pho is so good and very filling. I recently have been introduced to this type of Vietnamese restaurant and fell in love with the fresh variety of veggies served along side the soup and fried roll dishes. I was so happy to discover there was a place not far from home so I took my friend who introduced this food to me. These restaurants are typically cheap which is a nice break. About 5$ for a large, rare steak, onion and noodle soup bowl. There are two size bowls at this location M & L trust me when i say you only need a Medium size. Unless your a beast. These bowls are large and packed with filling noodles. Most appetizers are also 5$ or under. The soup was great however they are a bit skimpy on the beef some days. The fried egg rolls are different,. instead of serving short stubby fat rolls they serve three thin long rolls and cut them into several pieces. The greens and veggies served along side your plate are always fresh. The peanut sauce is not as strong as others i have tried, but good. The wait staff keeps your water full with a smile. The only down side to this place is the size, it is very small but a treasure for this neighborhood for sure. read more

If you love pho, this is a MUST to come visit. A very small, hole in the wall place (not somewhere you come on a formal/ nice date) but I have yet to find a better pho place! I love pho and have gone to many place and this is by far my favorite in terms of food/taste. The restaurant itself is small but service is great - very welcoming, warm, and fast! Small and dingy but I'd come back in a heartbeat. Located in a shopping center amidst other businesses of varying categories on a busy street intersection in the city of Whittier. If you aren't looking for it, you may not be able to find it. The nearest Pho we could find near us in Downey. At least from those registered with Yelp and the Yellow Pages. The Pho was good. The "Super Bowl" could have had more of what was advertised on the menu but overall very good. The broth had a sweet taste to it that I don't think I've tasted in any other Pho broth but very yummy. Everything is made from scratch...and can see this done if you ask to use the restroom as you have to make your way through the busy kitchen to do so. The man that waited on our table was attentive and wore a smile the whole time. They don't automatically put onions on their dish of garnishes. I had to ask for these. This was unusual. I did not like how our appetizers came after the meal and the peanut sauce is somewhat watered down but still retained it's flavor. While we dined several families/groups ate around us. There were several who came for takeout. Everything is done in what seems a space no bigger than 13' by 15' feet wide. They make it happen though. I would not recommend this for its ambiance or atmosphere. Lighting is horrid. Not a date night to impress. The egg rolls were delicious, and the chicken pho was very well seasoned with yummy meat. The bun with grilled pork and egg roll was delicious and the thai tea just right. I order a #1 Large. Hardly had any tendon in it. One piece had freezer burn and the other one had a super strange taste that made me feel like I just bit into lipstick. The broth was heavily oiled with day-old beef. I think I will insist on trying the broth FIRST before I ever pay for a full meal here. Very hard to digest poor quality food. I also asked for a coffee... I was not asked HOT or COLD. Nor did I specify an ICED COFFEE... let alone one that is creamed and sweetened for you. Super sweet and unpleasant. The young, tall waiter was nice and attentive, I just wish the chef/manager shared the same qualities and respect for good business. I am 4 hours in and still burping the unpleasant gases causes by this fermented food. :/ Please do better or risk people without actual taste for food coming to your restaurant and leaving honest reviews about the poor quality/experience. read more
