Pho Mai, is my favorite spot for Vietnamese in Whittier area. The owners are super nice and always give my 5 year old some type of treat when we go that's awesome and going out their way to make her smile makes me happy. Place can get packed quick during lunch or dinner. I've had it all on this menu, vermacili bowls, banh mi, chicken,beef pho place is great, the coffee's are really good! As long as we live in Whittier we will be coming here on the cold nights for some hot PHO! Keep up the good work, easy access lots of parking. read more

First time trying this place and I was very disappointed. Ordered a house special and was given 95% noodles. Literally counted 5 little pieces of meat which I couldn't even tell what was what. We LOVE this place! My husband and I go here at least 3 times a week for breakfast (they open at 9:00am), lunch, or dinner. The service is fantastic, the menu is reasonable, and the restaurant is clean. We order spring rolls, egg rolls, pho, and #63. The BBQ beef and BBQ Shrimp are delicious. My husband love the #1 soup. He says it is great with plenty of meat. They will give you LOTS of mint, cilantro, lime, and jalapenos for your meal. Usually for 1-2 appetizers, 2 entrees, and 2 drinks..our bill is no more than $25. Where else can you get delicious healthy food for that cheap????? Love it, Love it, Love it!!!! read more

The pho is not bad. Not the best pho ever, but it will do. I work in SFS, so this is a good place to have lunch. It's small and the place is packed during the lunch hours. Good idea to come here early before the lunch crowds. The parking lot is really small and a bit of pain in the ass when there are no open spots. I only come here when I'm craving for some noodle soup and I'm stuck at work. Bring cash. They accept credit cards, but I found out that they charged you like 80 cents or whatever for using it. Wow. i am a newer Pho Phan, but have been shown around town to some of the supposed best spots, and Pho Mai kicked serious A$$. The Spring Rolls, and the chicken Pho were amazing. I told the owner I found it on yelp.com, and he happily pointed to the yelp sticker in the window. It's a hard spot to find, located in a strip amll on a difficult corner, but well worth the adventure. Go get you some Phantastic Pho!!! read more

Pretty good spot providing it's got a B lol! Don't be fooled I've hit a couple of spots in Whittier for pho and surprisingly this has to be the best one. It's a little mom a pop spot so they get all your food to you fairly quickly the broth for the soups is pretty on point just wish it was a bit bigger. But you get what you pay for right! read more

So my mom decided to take me to my first Pho restaurant this weekend and what else can I say but I absolutely loved it! Being that I'm vegan, I was a bit hesitant on venturing into unfamiliar grounds but with the help of our server, I was able to order a dish (#50 on the menu) which came with Tofu, rice vermicelli noodles as well as a number of other veggies. In addition, my mom and I shared an order of their tofu spring rolls and what else can I say but that they were delicious. =) With them offering a wide array of fresh (and yes, I did say fresh) veggies in many of their dishes, I will surely be visiting this place when I'm in the area. read more

It is operated and owned by a family. Father works as a server and cashier, and mother works at the back (kitchen). Son is there to help some time. I have tried pho with beef brisket so far, but I really like it. Besides the delicious noodles and soup, I like how they make it into 2 different portions. The regular portion is good for girl. 2 1/2 STARS I'd have to say this place was a miss. For a place to have such great reviews, I was just a tad bit disappointed. Parking is limited here, but we were lucky to find parking right in front of the restaurant. Don't be surprised, this is a Vietnamese & Chinese restaurant. Service was good, but the place itself is very small: About more or less 10 tables in the place. Food: I wasn't hungry enough to order something as heavy as Pho, so I ordered their spring rolls. Very disappointed, for I am a huge fan of spring rolls, no matter where I go. The quality of the roll was really bad and I had to add water to the rice paper because it was so hard & stale. The peanut sauce didn't have actual peanuts on top, like everywhere else I've had them, and it was too watery. My stepdad ordered their combination pho & said he would rate it 2 stars because the base was on the sweeter side than normal pho would taste. My grandma ordered #48, which was soft noodles with veggies (perhaps their Chinese dish,) and i'd have to say, that plate was real good! Though the ratio of veggies and noodles were totally off, this dish was real flavorful & if I ever come back, which I highly doubt, I'd order this. My boyfriend ordered the beef fried rice and though it was good, they weren't very generous. They were real stingy on the rice and the some of the meats weren't cooked thoroughly. The amount of time we waited for our food wasn't too long, but my grandma's food came out when we were almost done with our food. On the plus side, the thai tea was really delicious! Whittier doesn't have many Vietnamese places around and this place is good, it looks like a family owned business. The owner is a really nice older man, I've been here several times and just noticed he would never bill me for my tip when I used my card so now I remember to bring cash for tip, he's such a nice guy. The portions are a little smaller then the traditional places but still fills you up. The only reason it's 4 stars and not five is because it's not the BEST pho I've ever had but it's still pretty darn good. read more

#1 is delicious. All ingredients are perfectly proportioned. I like to mix in a lot of chili oil for some spice. The minty spring rolls with peanut sauce were great, too. For Pho' this place is pretty good, its convenient to get to and the prices are right. I have no complaints about the food but its not my favorite either. Everything is pretty fresh and tasty. When asked about a local place to find pho, I was directed here. I was very excited to try this place out, sadly I decided to do so on a very warm day and I'm going to blame my mediocre review on it not being a great pho day. The place is a small place and was not busy when I went. I ordered the shrimp pho...service was great and the staff attentive but when my bowl of shrimp pho arrived...it was warm. Because it wasn't piping hot, my noodles were kind of stuck together...it took a long time to soften them up. The flavor of the broth was good, just not hot enough. Now, because I've read so many good reviews and have heard from friends that "it's the best"... I'm going to give it another try. This time I'm not going to go on a hot CA day when I think they didn't expect heavy pho orders. Fingers crossed my next experience will be a "hot" one. read more
