Number 1 house special combination pho

Pho Nam is one of my favorite pho place in the area. I am a frequent (usually during the work week lunch time). I typically order the house special combination pho (#1) and the pho and meats taste fresh and great (definitely not those pre frozen fast food like ones). The service is great too. Even during the busy time during the week day lunch, they are able to serve in a timely fashion. The restaurant has been in that strip mall for a long time. The strip mall itself doesn't look too good, but Pho Nam is definitely a gem

*LOCATION* This hole-in-the wall restaurant is located in a small run-down-looking plaza with a small parking lot. We randomly found it on google and decided to check it out because it was close by. *WAIT TIME* We had a late lunch on a Saturday ~1:30pm. The restaurant is very spacious inside and there were only a few tables occupied so we got seated right away. *FOOD* Fried egg rolls: piping hot and fresh, very crispy and yum~ Pho w/ steak and fatty brisket: this was my first time being able to specifically order fatty brisket, it was sooooo good!! *SERVICE* Our waiters were friendly and took our order quickly. They came to check on us during the meal and offer us more water. No complaints here :) *AMBIENCE* This restaurant is the typical Vietnamese place you think of. There's nothing particularly special about the interior but the food was good and decently priced. We'll definitely keep this place in mind next time we're in the area!

Hole in the wall spot that is clean, fair priced/delicious, and quick courteous service.

Good food, nice price. What's more are you asking for? I keep coming back. No brainer for dinner for a work day.

Divey lil' mom n pop type pho noodle house. Very convenient for weekday lunches though. Enough parking if you get there not at high lunch time. Basic pho.

My favorite pho spot around here portion sizes are nice and the vibe of the spot is very relaxing. Service is super quick, the team is on top of it! Thank you pho nam!

Best pho place in north Sunnyvale! Family owned, quick service and friendly staff. Prices are reasonable, lunch specials. I usually get their pho tai chin nam, the broth is good and portion size is appropriate. Other favorite dishes are bun thit Nuong (grilled pork and cold noodles) and the Bo kho (beef stew). Their rice plates are pretty good too. When my mom doesn't want to cook, we'll order from here. My parents are pretty picky with Vietnamese food, so you know it's authentic. Their decor may be a bit outdated, but the place is clean.

I've tried countless pho spots across the Bay Area, but I always found myself going back to my all-time favorite--Pho Kim Long. Even after checking out numerous places recommended by my Vietnamese friends, none of them quite hit the mark when it came to satisfying my pho cravings--until now. Since moving to Sunnyvale, I decided to explore local options and stumbled upon this unassuming pho restaurant near my home. The exterior isn't flashy, but it gave off a very authentic, Vietnam-street-vendor vibe that immediately caught my attention. To my surprise, this was the only pho place I've come across in over 30 years in the Bay Area that also includes Korean language on the menu--a rare and interesting find. Even more surprising? The pho here was not only delicious but also more affordable than Pho Kim Long and most others in the area. The quality held up just as well, if not better. Honestly, it was very good. So good that I no longer feel the need to drive all the way to my usual spot. Why pay more when you can get the same (or better) flavor closer to home? I'm beyond happy to have found this hidden gem. Highly recommend it to anyone in the area looking for top-notch pho at a great price. Service was good and quick as expected.

Enjoyed my early weekday dinner at Pho Nam. The atmosphere was cozy and lowkey, and everyone else around us seemed to also be enjoying the food and atmosphere. They have a pretty extensive selection of items. I ordered the small #1 which was the perfect portion for me. Food came out super quick. The meat was thin and had good texture, and the broth was deep in flavor and savoriness. I like that they also do a drink + entree combo option, and might come back to try their drinks. We also ordered the eggrolls (2pcs) and I like that they use a slightly different wrap than traditional eggrolls. Seems they take cash for orders under $20 (as of this review). Service was quick and friendly. There were zero issues parking in the plaza lot. Honestly I've been looking for a good local pho spot and while there aren't as many options as the SJ VN town area, I'd say this is a pretty decent option in Sunnyvale. Glad I gave this place a try.

This restaurant is in a tiny strip mall close to Mercado, between 7-11 & Bogarts Bar. So random! Driving past it on my way to Mercado, always wondered if it was any good. Well, it was! I am simple & just got Pho Tai. The broth was very flavorful and the steak was fresh. I got a small at $16 or so and it was the perfect amount. Also got spring rolls. They were ok. Definitely will be back when I feel like a bowl of Pho for lunch. Only down side is that the parking lot is small.

Restaurant looks a little run down, a little hole in the wall. Service is incredibly slow and not too friendly. All forgivable qualities for me, but the food was not good! I ordered the banh mi. Bread was stale. The meat was not flavorful with a bad texture and the vegetables were limp. You can tell the sandwich is not fresh. Prices are low for the area but definitely not worth the price.

Pho nam is a small hole in the wall right next to AMC Mercado. The cashier lets you pay separately for splitting up credit cards so its nice. The pho is pretty standard san jose Pho but the waiters are nicer and more accommodating. Parking is limited in front but if you park on the side theres plenty of parking. Would always recommend #1 large and their grilled pork vermicelli is pretty good too!

Watered down broth. Broth was also super greasy, far beyond anything that is normal. Noodles were overcooked and soggy.

While having pho at Pho Nam, I considered grabbing a few sandwiches there to bring back to the hotel. I had a hot date with Netflix later and absolutely no intention of going out again. But not far away is Cam Hung, a tiny Vietnamese sandwich shop specializing in bánh mì. It's cheap, and it's in the kind of quiet Sunnyvale strip mall where parking is not an act of war. It shares the plaza with a Chinese herbalist and acupuncturist. On a Sunday afternoon, the place was practically deserted. Perfect. I walked in and immediately realized this was much more than a sandwich counter. The tiny shop is crammed with prepared foods, spring rolls, steamed buns, Vietnamese desserts, dried snacks, candy and all kinds of things I couldn't identify but probably wanted. The main attraction, however, is the bánh mì. These are big sandwiches, and even the most expensive ones top out at around $9. I got a Chinese barbecue pork and a ham and pork roll to take back to the hotel, along with a bag of roasted candied garlic and chile peanuts. I came dangerously close to buying the peanut brittle too, but the sugar would have nailed me. Even I have limits.

I appreciate that as someone always wants Vietnamese food. The banh cuon hits as expected. We also tried the banh beo, and unfortunately that one was a miss for us. It looked promising, but the batter was a little too thick and the ratio of batter to toppings wasn't ideal. The table next to us got the banh xeo though, and that looked so gooddd. I am one of those people who thinks that just about every meal needs animal protein or it won't be satisfying. Well, Happy Flower proved me wrong because I came away with a very happy and full stomach and I did not even miss the meat! We ordered 8 different dishes to share family style, and I was especially pleased with the all seasons sampler and vegan fried rolls appetizers, as well as the pad Thai, salted fish fried rice, hainan chicken rice, tomato fish, and happy clay pot entrees. Each dish was quite large such that all 9 of us were able to try generous portions of each dish. And then we got two servings of the mango sticky rice to share and the mango was amazingly sweet! I did not try their boba drinks, but a few of my friends ordered drinks and enjoyed them. Their boba drinks are sized quite large as well. I will say, the meat doesn't necessarily taste like the meat it purports to imitate, but the textures for the fake chicken and fish are pretty spot on! Service was friendly and helpful and they delivered the dishes at a good pace. The inside isn't fancy, but it's clean and well lit and spacious. I wish I had known about this hidden gem sooner, but they had a good clip of takeout orders and families coming in for dinner. Parking is also plentiful and easy in their large attached lot. I will be back!

Crispy, and there is salt and black pepper in it, but overall it doesn't have much flavor outside of the sauce. Lemongrass fish lunch plate modified to have soy beef (you can switch out the protein): The broccoli itself itself was just steamed with no flavoring, so that was underwhelming. But the lemongrass beef is pretty good, firm and chewy not spicy. One of the others in my party got the eastern duck soup, which has a stronger soup flavor, you can taste the anise. It also has shiitake mushrooms. It came with veggie drumsticks, on an actual stick, but just takes like soy protein, doesn't really taste like duck. I tried a bit of Cali pho too, which was mild but pleasant, it has a ton of vegetables. Overall I'd give it more of a 3.5/5, there were certainly some items that could've used better seasoning/flavoring, but I do appreciate the amount of options that are suitable for vegetarians and actually being able to enjoy noodle soups that would usually have been meat-based. They do have outdoor tables and at the time when I had gone, no one else was sitting outside.
