homi is located in an old fashioned dingy strip mall and offers cheap simple food -- tried the steamed pork ribs combo, the rice was a little undercooked and the ribs were pretty underseasoned, the cabbage was fine and the soup was really nice, clean and clear, warm and comforting; my stars definitely go to the soup! the service was pretty bad, our food came out at very different times and you need to go to the counter to pay. i probably wouldnt be back but it could be a decent choice for a cheap lunch if you work nearby. the interior was a little dingy but clean enough and plenty of parking!

I want something hot and comfort so I thought of this place. The upgraded soup is good, you can pay $8 extra to upgrade. The steam rice is good too, there are different options, I like pork more. My friend said the chicken is a bit too dry. Will definitely come back and highly recommend.

The food was great here... Service was very quick and they really took care of us. Great place to eat in the bay area for everybody!!!

A unsuspecting chinese/japanese restaurant next to Saigon Seafood Harbor. Most ppl usually get the chinese food here which isn't bad. The portion sizes are quite big but mostly because it is meant for family style eating where you share dishes. Ramen is more like a Taiwanese/Chinese soup flavor so don't expect the Ramen to be Japanese Ramen here (despite the name haha) Lots of parking in the plaza but only one entrance if you are turning in from Lawrence Service is alright, we went when only one server was available. Ambiance resembles Japanese style. Would recommend here for chinese food

Chicken katsu with curry sauce on the side.

Maybe I should've came here for ramen, but their curry chicken katsu and their salt and pepper calamari aren't it. Katsu could've been fried longer, and their calamari was mushy and hardly crunchy. The sauce that came with the calamari was more curry like than the curry sauce for the katsu. It wasn't horrible, just sub par. Very cute packaging for take out though, and friend service.

Their steam rice comes with soup. The soup doesn't have msg which is pretty good! If soup has msg that will only make you feel more thirsty. The amount of meat isn't enough for both the rice I order, they give lots of nice instead, I wish the they could give more meat. I wouldn't recommend the beef rice because the beef is very chewy. The chicken is pretty good. Therefore 4 stars

Delicious kimchi miso ramen. A bit of a high price point, but the food delivers in a major way and the portions were generous.

Check out this place for lunch and had the braised beef rice bowl combo Wow. That was a lot of food. Need to walk afterwards else will get sleepy at work. Food was good. Huge portions, essentially 2 bowls of rice. Like the seaweed soup with a couple small pieces of sparrib in there. The veggie was ok. A little too much Total was 20.72 + 2 tip. Food was good, huge portions... I would like a mini version of this at a lower price point I will try their other dishes.. might become part of lunch rotation

This is actually a Chinese restaurant that also happens to serve ramen-- the name is very misleading. However they are most popular for their steamed rice dishes, where they let the meat steam on top of the rice so the fats and flavors soak into the rice. Each dish comes with some cabbage and a bowl of meat broth. Flavors were decent but the meat was heavily salted and the cuts of beef they used were very tough. I guess the name "homi" is appropriate because you can make this at home.

Please don't get the curry. No flavor at all. 2/5. Service is bad as well. I wouldn't recommend this place.

    Stewed beef rice combo.

We were immediately greeted by very friendly staff who sat us promptly and offered good recommendations. They even suggested we should try the plum wine when we asked what it was as we had never tried before, it was a big hit. The ramen was very tasty. Although the broth at other restaurants we have tried may have more flavor, but for the price you can't go wrong. We will definitely be back to support them again, they offer both quality food and service!

They now focus on a few basic ramen selections, some Japanese curry rice dishes, and small rice bowl choices, all at reasonable prices. The Tonkotsu Ramen and Miso Ramen dishes were great, plenty enough to fill us up, served with half a soft boiled egg, simmered pork, and a variety of sides. The Pork Katsu Curry was lovely, served with a perfectly crispy pork katsu, smooth and delicate curry, with the requisite ume pickles. This isn't a huge place, but it's still welcoming with its Japanese art and decor. I'd recommend giving this place a try!

Overall: 3.5/5 Restaurant is located in a strip mall so easy parking and the restaurant itself is clean. Service was fast and attentive and food was out fast. Chicken Karaage as an appetizer was good, a bit heavier on the batter than other places, but overall a good crunch. 6 pieces for around $13. Tried the aries Aruba soba and the Saturn ramen. The Saturn had a nice large price of soft shell crab and the broth was nice and light with a hint of seafood flavor. Noodles had a good texture. This continued with the Aries, which had excellent soba noodles, bouncy and the texture was right. However, the flavor was also a bit light and one note. In addition, everything we ordered was supposed to be spicy, and that didn't come through in any of the dishes.

Uzumakiya had beef broth, supposedly oxtail broth. It's lighter in consistency than the ramen broth. Tasted more meaty without being heavy or fatty. The noodles were thicker but not chewy. The chashu (pork) slices that came with it was tender with just enough fat to give it the umami flavor. The Tonkotsu Ramen had the thinner noodles. The broth was creamier and richer than the beef broth but not bold or complex compared to other ramen broths I've had but still has a nice balance of flavor between the pork and dashi. Had the same chashu slices. Had more umami flavor than the Udon. Love the Hojicha Panna Cotta. Very smooth consistency. I felt like I'm eating something fancy but not heavy. Combination of light roasted tea and milk flavor. Just the right amount of sweetness. Enjoyed this the most. They had a $3 discount on their Udon. Food came out quickly. Staff were welcoming.
