Small size is the chicken broth and large is the red broth. Pretty close in size.

We visited this spot for a craving of Pho. I had happened to see it driving around earlier in the day running errands so we gave it a chance. We got there around 730pm. It was empty. But as you know, if the family has their kid doing homework in the corner and helping out, then it's gotta be good. We were seated and server took our order quickly. She was very nice. Answered all questions. We ordered the Pho. One was the chicken and the other was the tofu/veggies with veggie broth. They were able to provide a veggie broth for the vegan. Soup sizes were small or large with a $1 difference. I got the large and my wife the small. The pho hit the spot. Tasted great. There wasn't to much of a difference in size. I could've gotten the small and still been ok. I was disappointed at the prices. The base price for the veggie pho was $15.99, then they charged an extra $4 for tofu. Kinda upset considering all the other pho options had a protein already in them for no upcharge. The restaurant didn't look Vietnamese inside. It seemed as if they took over either an older Italian restaurant or a Mediterranean one of some type. Overall the food was good but there are cheaper options with just as good flavor in the area.

This has become my new frequent spot to get some good pho. The portion size is very good, even the small is a good filling portion. The large is also really good if you are very hungry. Their spring rolls are one of the best I've had in San Antonio. The interior has pretty murals on the walls and seating is open and spacious. Service is quick and efficient highly recommend.

Everything we got was delicious and the service was so quick! It was a nice, quiet atmosphere, perfect for a date night. We definitely will be back!

No customers when we went in. We were seated and given a menu. Maybe 10 mins before someone comes for our order even though we are clearly ready and the lady is just standing doing nothing. Kind of pricey for the amount of food you get. Got a bowl of vermicelli for $19 and it looked like half the size of most other places.

I can't wait to come back here and try more things. It seems family owned and they're nice people! I actually ordered this because it looked good in another yelp photo. Great flavor and of course love drenching it in Siracha. My friend loved her pho so I'll have to come back and try that. Tai tea with boba was yummy! I'm surprised the place was not more packed. Only a few other tables were occupied. Clean and well kept.

We driven by Pho Nguyen a million times but for whatever reason, never tried it...until today. Food was excellent! Perfect temperature. The young man server was very polite and put together, very helpful with the menu. And the ambiance was my personal favorite. It's so very beautiful and bright inside, high ceilings, good energy all around. Flowers everywhere You must try! Ps. Spring rolls are delish

I liked the food here. It was really good, but I wish there was more vegetables. I also like that they have containers of chili sauce on the tables. The bun bo hue broth is good. There are a ton of aunties in the kitchen, too, which is a good sign. The grilled pork spring rolls are tasty, but with more veggies, they'd stay together better. This is best bun bo hue I've had in San Antonio.

Pros - Flavors of the pho was delicious, not too salty - the spring rolls were crunchy and stuffed with filling - ample and easy parking - Good location, you can easily walk around to other stores and dessert places when finished - Server was friendly and food came out wicked fast Cons - I was surprised to see how close their seating was. I'm not sure if they limit their occupancy, but we were lucky that we were the only ones there otherwise I don't think it's very safe - A bowl of white rice was $3!!! - they are quite stingy on the bean sprouts and greens for the pho. Instead of giving a plate to share, they put a small portion of it next to the noodle soup Overall I think they were quite stingy with their food portions, and I didn't feel like it was a 'safe' place to eat during COVID since they didn't seem to have any precautions.

Wow! We went here on a whim to celebrate my dad's birthday and it was such a good pick! The food was delicious as we got pho and some spring rolls. I'm prone to never finishing my soup broth, but here I had all of it. The service was friendly and felt like family despite me not being Vietnamese, the staff were very welcoming and sweet. Inside this place is beautiful and relaxing with soft music playing and a beautiful mural on the wall. Overall we loved it and hope to come again in the future despite being on the other side of town!!

If we want to go there for lunch, we try to get there as close to 11 am as possible when they first open. As it gets closer to 12 noon, it starts to get really busy, and it's harder and trickier for the staff to seat you. There is both booth and table seating. It's a great restaurant to catch up with friends, family or even colleagues over a good meal :) ! The parking lot out in front is a pretty decent size. But it can fill up pretty quickly when it gets busy! We also love ordering frozen dumplings to go :D ! For sure, we will definitely come back :D ! Kung Fu Noodle never disappoints :) !

I ordered the crispy dumplings (pork) and spring rolls as appetizers, and the spicy noodle soup as my entree. My server came to take my order, and brought me the items as they were ready. The entree came out before the appetizers. The spicy noodle soup was spicy (as named) and it was good, but it was incredibly oily and the noodles were overcooked, so I didn't eat much of it. I would definitely recommend ordering this with rice, or taking it home and making your own. The dumplings and spring rolls were crispy, but nothing special. I did like the duck sauce they had -- I would have asked my server for more of it, but she was busy in the back or something, not sure. I wish she would've checked in on me a bit more during the visit so I could have gotten more napkins and sauce. The service was alright. I wish I would've gotten checked on a little bit more, but she was nice and helped me pack my noodles to go. Overall, this spot wasn't terrible, but if I had to choose, I'd probably try another place.

Drinks were AMAZING! Bartender Rob made the best Negroni I've ever had. I asked him to use whatever gin he thought best--result was an artistic smooooooth full-bodied drink. Told him when I was done I'd lick the glass if it wasn't considered so uncouth for a 'mature' lady like myself to do so Hubby's Buffalo Trace bourbon old fashioned was also outstanding. Rob was the bartender last night who did such a great job, and his work was even better tonight. We highly recommend The EsquireTavern for excellent cocktails. We love the long wood bar and high copper ceiling upstairs, but love the intimate speakeasy atmosphere downstairs even more. We'll definitely be back every time we're in San Antonio! First review, Friday night: Drinks were great (Manhattan and Bourbon Old Fashioned). REAL drinks, no complaints at all about those. And the bartenders were very friendly and helpful. Those aspects of the Esquire get 5+ stars from us. But the appetizers were not good, close to inedible. It was about 8:30pm or so, so maybe they were getting ready to close out the kitchen but the chalupitas with chicken tasted like rubber, and no flavor at all. The seafood platter had something in it that was breading with shell inside, but no meat of any kind. We couldn't figure out what it was supposed to be. The shrimp was good and the fish was good but those other things... We'll always love the drinks, the long wooden bar, and the ambiance at the Esquire Tavern, but we'll eat somewhere else and come here for before or after dinner drinks. (See update above to this review for when we returned the next night for after dinner drinks.)

Every dish feels thoughtfully curated with tried-and-true recipes rooted in Chef Luca and his family's Northern Italian traditions. This is the kind of place where quality takes priority over quantity. Our server, Gary, was fantastic. He was friendly, incredibly knowledgeable, and passionate about Italian food and wine. His recommendations were spot-on and his enthusiasm felt so genuine. We started with a bread basket accompanied by a little sampling of tapenade, which was savory, briny, and a perfect complement to the warm bread. Came in with a group of four, we kicked things off with the burrata starter--a surprisingly fun and shareable adventure of baked burrata, fresh crostini, roasted cauliflower, asparagus, sun-dried tomatoes, artichokes, and basil cream. There was a lot happening on the plate, but it all worked beautifully together. For our entrées, we ordered the Tartufo, Cinghiale, Bolognese, and Carbonara. And let me just say, the Tartufo was a full-on dinner performance. Gary brought out steaming hot tagliatelle pasta and tossed it tableside inside a giant wheel of Parmesan. He then topped it with crab meat in brown butter before finishing it with a generous shaving of truffle. Every bite was like a perfectly timed symphony of flavors--rich, savory, buttery, and earthy, with nothing outshining the other. I'd put this dish up against anyone's nonna. I sampled the other three entrées as well, and every one was delicious. The gnocchi in the Cinghiale is an absolute must-try--pillowy, texturally delightful, and packed with flavor. Thank you, Nonna Osteria, for such an epic culinary experience. And a special shoutout to Gary for guiding us through the menu and making an already great dinner even better.
