I'm really glad this place opened up. It's located next to Vons and shares the same parking lot. I called in a phone order for the Combination Pho and the Rice and Grilled Pork dish for pick up. Less than 10 minutes later, I showed up and the food was all ready and packaged for me. The restaurant itself is pretty small and has a decent amount of tables. Did not seem very busy but the two staff I saw were both very friendly. I had requested extra limes and jalapeños and they were very accommodating. They also packaged plenty sriracha and hoisin sauce for me without me having to ask for it - plenty of places have not done this and I got home just to realize that these essential condiments were missing. I'm glad this didn't happen here. Overall, a very convenient place and I'm glad that there is a new Vietnamese place available to the neighborhood. read more

I really want to give more than 3 stars, but the lack of consistency in the same item ordered, combined with no take out menu available or a menu posted results in 3 stars. The staff are very kind and attentive. The food is good, just not consistent. Last visit I ordered the veggie pho and the broccoli was missing. Today it was the tofu. Prior to that, my pho was onions broth and noodles. I'm hopeful it will improve, as the other spots owned by the same person, Nori and Modan are excellent. read more

This place looked promising. Sadly, I didn't get to try it. My order was simple, I was ready to order when I walked in. The man working there didn't want to take my order. He sat me down, took 10 mins to bring me a menu, I then told him (again) that i'm ready to order. He said he'd be right back to take it. 10 mins later he comes to take my order. I ordered a veggie pho and asked how long would it take (been 20 mins so far and I only had an hour lunch). He replied 20-25 mins. I waited. 25 mins later I asked if it would be coming out soon, he left and came back again saying it would be coming out soon. I canceled and left. Only go here if you have a few hours to kill. Clean and friendly service, the pho came out piping hot and you can tell the noodles are done fresh, because they aren't clumped up from sitting around like other places. STOP!! Do not put any lime, bean sprouts, sriracha, hoisen, or any other item into the bowl UNTIL you first take a sip of the broth as soon as you get the bowl. Matter of fact, take a few. They're broth is not as "see through" as other places that I've been to for good reason. It's clean broth for sure but is dark in color because I could tell that they really invested their time and energy into making it meaty in flavor. It was robust in taste unlike so many watered down places elsewhere who obviously do that in order to get more mileage out of their stock and compensating it with MSG. Don't get me wrong, I love msg but I do not like it as a substitute of flavor but a tool for enhancing the flavor that is already there. Believe it or not, I can taste the difference. This place is a must eat place. Yes it's a bit pricier than the average pho place but I'll gladly add $2 to the bill for non-watered down broth and great location. Otherwise I would have to spend the $2 in gas money to drive down to Alhambra/San Gabriel. I don't go to a Pho restaurant expecting good service. I learned that a long time ago, but the service here was great regardless of the food genre. read more

3 strikes and you're out! Strike 1. Walked in went to the register because I was not told to have a seat. Space is very limited, the cashier asked if I was dining in and if I wanted to seat at the only table available or the bar, I choose table and proceeded to order. Instead of him telling to to have a seat, a women took the table I choose then he was trying to get to me to sit at the bar, which was a no go for these short legs. After taking my money for the order he said he would clean the next available table, I went to the restroom and came to a dirty table (Strike 2). He did not tell the other women to move (who was white and I'm black by the way). I sat down didnt complain ... they brought out my food, the egg rolls were not as pictured online and the broth in the Pho had a weird taste I was not accustomed too. Very disappointed I spent $23 on dinner. While dining I noticed (Strike 3) everyone else was paying for their meal AFTER THEY ATE! The cashier knew I was dining in... I am a lyft driver who was looking to take a break and have a nice dinner so why didnt he give me the same respect and courtesy as everyone else. Icing on the nasty Pho broth .. a couple came in and they rushed out to clean the table for them. Damn... I will never come back to Pasadena if I can help it. Update: on my way home that night which was a 50 mile drive ... I was very sad. We offered a bunch of things, such as sandwich, pho and fries etc. everything tasted like fast food even though the prices are typical to a place that actually makes their food in a quality fresh way. The fries were so stale and hard and old. The pho had like three prices of meat. I was shocked how little they put in. Service was great. Ambiance was great fir a holo-in-the-walk. I use that term as a compliment because I love those places. Pho is hard to come by in Pasadena since Saigon Noodle, in Old Pasadena. My Pho was ok. It had a sweet taste which I had never tasted in Pho before. The egg roll, however, was over fried, greasy and tasteless. The Pho it's very good and I have been here four times already. The first time the service was good. The last three times not good. Waiters seem to have very little experience. We are always greeted with a surprise look that say... oh no another customer! Instead of an inviting Hi welcome! They need to be more friendly and attend to tables instead of the customer calling them constantly. They are not bad or rude, but they need a little more customer service training. I was bummed to find out that they no longer serve my all time favorite sushi wrap at this location, but I was very pleased to know it was under the same ownership! Plus they have another Nori Sushi location here in Pasadena so it's good to have some diversity. BBQ plate was great - chicken was tender and juicy, rice has a jasmine flavor and right amount of moist. Rare steak and brisket pho was also good, the meat were very well cooked. The broth could have been more meaty flavored to my taste. We also ordered chicken wings - nice and crispy, a little overly fried in my opinion. Finally a good pho restaurant in Pasadena! The broth of the Pho is very tasty and flavorful. The Thai tea was also really good. The chili cheese fries were a delicious treat to share. I recommend this restaurant to anyone that loves Pho! The restaurant was clean and the service was great. I came here for dinner tonight around 7:30PM, and this place has only one customer. I ordered Pho #6, which is rare steak and cooked brisket pho for $10.95 before tax and tips. The condiment and the water came first. The condiment is on the mean side, with 2 pieces of chili, a small bunch of bean sprouts, a few basil leafs and a lemon lime wedge. The pho noodle soup came in about 3 mins later, and when I first taste the broth, it was way tangy, and I think they use excessive amount of tamarind. In addition, in total I was ablel to find 8 small pieces of thin slice beef (4 steak and 4 briskets) in it, which is a ripoff for the price they charge. They did provide me with enough rice noodle to fill my empty stomach, but the rice noodle could use a few more moments of cooking time as it is not soft enough. For the service side, it's ok; but since the food is on the skimpy side, I won't come back. read more

But I give 2 stars because the veggie pho was just way too salty. I couldn't believe such salty broth was being served to the table. I'm not talking just a bit saltier than your average pho(or any kind of soup/broth), but just SO weirdly sour and salty LIKE OCEAN WATER nobody will be ok with it. It's a small place located in a shopping center with no parking issues. The service was excellent and prompt. I ordered the #2 Spicy Pho Combo which includes steak, brisket, tripe, meatball, and tendon. I felt the meat and noodle proportions were adequate despite several reviews here saying otherwise. The broth lacked any real flavor for me and I had to add red chili paste along with salt to make it more palatable which is a first for me and pho. The noodles were cooked to perfection I must say. The Pho serving is very generous and even I struggled to finished it all. The garnishments (basil, sprouts, jalapeño) came without me asking. I would love to give this place another shot but I don't think my opinion would change much. read more
