Beef Broth Pho Rare Steak Noodle Soup
    Doreen L.

I came to this restaurant once before during dinner time and had to sit on the tall chairs since it was very busy. I dislike the tall chairs as I'm not very tall, and it is uncomfortable for me to sit on those chairs. This time I came mid afternoon so the place had customers, but it wasn't crowded. We were able to sit at a regular table. The regular tables have bench and chair seating. There are also outdoor tables. I ordered the beef broth pho rare steak noodle soup. The flavor was good. However, the noodle was vermicelli. For some reason, I thought it was coming with egg noodles, which I prefer. Parking was okay. During busy times, one may have to park further away from the restaurant in the parking lot.

Been going to this spot for a while now! Always clean and the workers are super nice. Food is served quickly and tastes so good. Sometimes I'll complicate my orders and they always get it right. Always impressed! Was a little cold outside today so I swung by to warm up with some brisket and flank pho!

Where have I been all this time? This place is very cute and clean! Once enter, you get in line, order and pay then the cashier will assign you a table and they will deliver food to you. I stopped by on Tuesday lunch and it wasn't too busy. I ordered pho seafood and was amazed by the seafood I received! The seafood weren't tiny like other spots. Will definitely go back there again and try other menus including boba tea :) Forgot to mention that I ordered Togo and the packaging was great!

The pho always taste incredible! All the food comes out hot and fast! I didn't get tofu as I'm personally not a fan but the veggies were so fresh! I also love the strawberry tea it's a perfect combo of sweet and strong. I would recommend people to stop by and try their pho or even their spring rolls! I didn't order it this time but their peanut sauce taste so good! The service is always very quick! The style of this restaurant is very clean with a modern twist.

Great place to get Pho in the bay area! There is plenty of seating and it follows the order first sit down after style of service. I got the pho rare steak and brisket. I also got a taro milk tea. The broth is really good and also their noodles have a nice bite to them. The boba was also really good, seems they make fresh honey boba as when I got it, it had that fresh mochi bite to it. Definitely glad it isn't too far from my home as this definitely fulfills my pho craving.

Castro Valley is lacking knowledge of Pho. We came here after I picked up my kids from school. Flavor was lacking. Pork Banh Mi 3.5/5 Even tho the sandwich was big it was lacking taste. Chicken rice plate 3.5/5 Chicken was also lacking flavor. Great portion! Beef Pho 3.5/5 Good portions of beef. Broth flavor was there but not enough. Service was good. Place was clean. Some what busy during lunch on a Wednesday afternoon around 12pm.

The food is always consistent and really good, the boba is cheap and good every time.

One my go to Pho places in the Bay! We went here on a Monday afternoon. Surprisingly a lot of tables were already filled. They seemed to have added Chicken Pho on their menu. We decided to get the Pork Vermicelli bowl and a side of Chicken pho broth. We didn't have to wait long for our food. Also their portions were still huge. We were able to feed two people with the vermicelli. Overall the food was still good. There was a good amount of meat and veggies.

The broth is flavorful and seasoned to perfection. The soup is packed with meat and noodles. The spring rolls are fresh, the ingredients they use really make a difference in quality of the food. Quality/Quantity - My daughter craved Pho so we came to this place. It has been a VERY long time since we ate here. Actually, the previous time was with the previous owners/business. Today we got the following: Fish Ball Noodle Soup with Pho Noodles - Of course my daughter's choice and with NO veggies?!?! This looked so plain... I know I could have made this better at home! My wife shared some of her wontons with my daughter to add to the flavor. See pictures. I am sure this is NOT what my daughter had in mind when she craved Pho. This was much more of a "Chinese" dish rather than Vietnamese. Update - My daughter mentioned that she could not find regular thinly sliced beef pho as an option. And she thought fish balls were beef balls... Wonton Noodle Soup - Also as plain as my daughter's dish. Again, more of a Chinese dish rather than Vietnamese. #24 Fried Pork Chop, Chicken, Egg with Steamed Rice - Fried fresh and perfectly done! My pork chop and chicken were 5 stars! Everything else was just okay. Ambiance - Very small local business. Decent size parking lot, but not enough spaces for this busy mall. We got lucky and got a space fairly close to the restaurant. Not stressed as we planned to shop at Foodnet after lunch. Service - Had to ask for everything. Hard to get their attention as they just hung around the first booth talking and talking and talking. The hardest worker was the runner, probably the only employee that was not family...? Price - $66 + more generous tip than deserved or earned. Owner Comment - Congrats on your success at this location since 2024. And your previous location in Oakland, etc. The previous location was known for their chicken, chicken noodle soup, etc.

My partner and I usually come for the basic comfort items like Pad Thai, Pad Se Ew, Lao Sausage, and/or their sampler. Occasionally we'd get their papaya salad, Tom Yum soup, or other entrees to share, but I do feel that they don't execute those dishes as well as the basics we frequently return for. I may be critiquing them harder than others on their papaya salad and Nam Khao because my mom does it best (no bias...). However, their portions are large and the flavors are great all around. I think they do some items better than others, but I have yet to be disappointed by any of their food. It's always great to try something new on the menu and be pleasantly surprised. But aside from the food, the customer service and ambiance encourages us to come back every time. They're kind, patient, and attentive all around. Whether we're just picking up food, dining in at peak times or during the quiet hours, they always deliver a great experience. Their dining room is fairly large and they have a softer lighting that compliments that TLC decor well. Through and through, Chai Thai is consistent and reliable.

Integrated into downtown Hayward just a block from the theater and other eateries and drink spots, Khao Hom has made a strong impression in the local community drawing a good following for weekend brunch as well as weekday lunch. With street parking right in front as well as sharing free public parking in the lot behind the restaurant, once you've slogged through traffic to get to this area, you'll be able to easily park and venture in for your food experience. As you enter, you'll likely need to wait for one of their staff members to seat you in one of their two dining spaces. The rooms are well lit and enhance the ambiance of your meal (and photos) with natural lighting. When seated, you'll get their food and drinks menu in addition to finding their dessert menu at the table. As standard, each table gets a carafe of water for you to serve yourselves. Their menu is quite extensive in representing popular Thai flavors with a bit of flare. You'll find curries, soups, noodles and chef specialties in their own sections of the menu. They also have some alcohol infused drinks for those looking for a full brunch experience. As a novice to some Thai dishes, I did have to ask the staff to explain a bit about certain dishes, but there were a few that caught my eye and never let go. Thai tea - flavorful and bold; rich but not too sweet Matcha latte - rich matcha flavor and creamy; best sipped and can be packed in a to-go cup if you don't finish Tom yum crab omelet - beautifully crafted omurice-esque dish where you'll find white rice encased in an egg omelet topped with succulent pieces of crab meat and smothered in tom yum soup. This dish is not only a pleasure to look at but the taste and textures in each bite will have you salivating for more until the dish completely disappears. This unique take is a must get for first timers! Roti gai tod - crispy fried yet succulent chicken served with a small serving of creamy yellow curry, white rice, and a roti alongside their delicious chili sauce. Fantastic balance of textures and flavors will have your tongue dancing from the spices. Tom kha soup - a bowl of comfort with a whole lot of shredded chicken, red onions, and mushrooms with a few big quarters of fresh tomatoes. It's not as creamy as I would like but the flavor is there with its abundance in lemongrass. The portion is large as one order can easily split into two bowls. Fried ice cream - a meal topper and sweet indulgence for those looking to try something new and rarely found elsewhere. This giant meteorite of a breaded and fried ball of vanilla ice cream is topped with chocolate fudge, powdered sugar, a generous helping of whipped cream and plenty of fruit (strawberries, blueberries, kiwi, grapes, and cantaloupe). Definitely shareable and a surprising star of their dessert menu - they could definitely do more to advertise this! The staff were super friendly and quick to take dirty dishes out of the way. They kept the place clean, served the food promptly and treated all of their customers with respect and smiles. Top notch crew from the front of the house to the back. Furthermore, should you need the restrooms, they do have two gender neutral rooms that were decently maintained. Overall, Khao Hom is not your everyday Thai restaurant nor is it your run of the mill brunch spot - this is a unique experience with food created out of passion to merge these together. The result is an aesthetically pleasing yet hunger extinguishing meal that will have you discovering new flavors and craving for more. With its proximity to the city center, it's a great a spot to plan out a lunch or brunch before a nice stroll around or a movie. Thai food has never looked and tasted so good!

NN Thai's version was good and reminded me of the Chinese-style of pickled pigs feet with sweet, dark vinegar. The side of pickled mustard greens, Chinese broccoli, steamed rice, boiled egg and side of garlic, chili vinegar helped to cut thru the sweetness as I'm usually not a fan of more sweet in my savory dishes. There was a minor issue (system issues) with my order which to be honest didn't have much thought.
