This particular location changes names and probably owners often, but generally remains a clean, open space with a Vietnamese restaurant occupying it. My favorite predecessor was Ricepaper. Anyway, came here after finding our usual spots full for lunch, so we figured why not give it a shot? I had the pho and spring rolls. Both very good, but not more remarkable than other places. The pho broth was a bit salty- too salty for my mom (she's off salt) but ok for the rest of us. Service was pretty good but it took a while and a reminder before the spring rolls came out. Update: We came back the following day because my mom ended up wanting something light and no one knew what to eat. This time our party got to order for ourselves, we had two people order pho, my mom ordered Bun Mang Vit (noodles with duck and bamboo), one sister got bun bo hue (spicy beef) and the other one did bun rieu (seafood noodle). Basically we tried all the soup/noodle combinations in the regions lol. I got banh mi (combination sandwich) because I was snacking all day from Chinatown. Everyone liked their dishes. My sisters bun rieu lacked flavor but you can ask them for more mam ruoc (bagaoong) for more salty flavor. The BBH, Bun Rieu and Bun Mang Vit came with the pork blood. Yummy! My sandwich was delicious, the roof of my mouth hurts from the crunchy bread but worth it! Service is fast and nice. Their restaurant is so clean. We come here often since it is one of the only Pho restaurants in Chinatown that is open in the evening. They are located on Maunakea street. You can park in the public parking attached to the twin towers, enter from Beretania street. When they first opened, their food and service was excellent! However, as time passed and many different staff turnover, it has gone down. I last ate here on Monday, 12/11/22. I had to ask 3 different people for water before and after our food came. The workers barely acknowledge you. The food is alright, the price went up to $15 for a large bowl of pho and $13 for a medium bowl. Hopefully the service gets better over time, I am in search of a new pho restaurant in the Chinatown area, until then, I will keep my hopes up that service will be better. read more

I came across this place while walking around Chinatown. It's been rather chilly these days, so it was perfect timing for some hot soup. The restaurant was spacious, bright and clean. The staff were friendly. What stood out most was the amazing flavor and freshness of their food. I'd have to say that I've been to my fair share of Vietnamese restaurants and this place is one of the best. I ordered the steamed pork and shrimp rolls ($7) and crab meat noodle soup ($12). The steamed pork and shrimp rolls were definitely made to order. So fresh. I'm not one for the peanut sauce that other restaurants serve but the flavor here was delicious. Light and creamy. The crab meat noodle soup was packed with great flavor and a lot of quality ingredients. The soup contained vermicelli noodles, a ball of real crab meat, 2 tomato wedges, 2 shrimp, a pig foot, 2 blood cubes, a piece of fried tofu and Vietnamese ham. My favorite authentic Vietnamese restaurant on the island was Kim An 2, but they aren't on Uber Eats and they close early. Pho Hue Huong on the other hand does operate with Uber Eats and closes later for an establishment in China Town. I hate it when Vietnamese restaurants cut corners/westernize their dishes by removing necessary ingredients. Pho Que Huong doesn't skimp on the authentic ingredients like shrimp paste, pork's blood, ong choy, and banana blossom. Very good! read more

This place was always switching owners but I hope that this one stays. I stumbled across this restaurant when my favorite pho spot was closed for vacation. The place is very big and clean with good ac. Very important when you eat hot pho LOL. I also like how they provide napkins,chopsticks,spoons, and condiments right on your table. I hate it when some restaurants are stingy with their napkins because let's face it one isn't enough especially when you eat pho. Who else has a runny nose when they eat pho? Lol The food here is really good. I'm not Vietnamese but I know it's good haha. The portions are great and the prices are average compared to other pho restaurant. I love their bon bu hue. This is not Americanized Vietnamese, it's Vietnamese food period. A menu with many choices unlike any I've seen before (Goat hotpot, beef testicle pho, etc.). We walked in around 6:30pm and got a table - within 30 minutes, the place was packed on a Sunday night. We were the only white people in the restaurant - it's not for PF Chang devotees. Got the impression this is a favorite place for many local families. Service was friendly and nice, the place was packed with families from little kids to grandparents, all having a great time eating the delicious food. Had a phenomenal beef salad- rare sliced thin beef mixed in a somewhat sweet dressing with a salty dipping sauce that was far more than just fish sauce. The combination was outstanding. Also had a spicy beef noodle soup (not super spicy) with an astonishing assortment of different meats - some were better than others, but I enjoyed it. Could have skipped the somewhat bland shredded pork summer roll. This is not a fancy place, but it's very clean. They run the AC pretty cold, most diners were wearing long sleeves - some were wearing jackets. Parking nearby, but I'm not sure there would be open spots after 7, we took Uber with no problem). My coworker had the vegetarian pho and I ordered the pork chop. We shared an order of spring rolls. The spring rolls were good, but I have had better. It's still pretty good though. I come here every week for my pho (I dont even have to order they just come by and say "the same?"), I have been to a lot of pho places and nothing beats the cleanliness of this place. Total hidden gem! Walking in, I had no idea the restaurant space was so BIG! Unlike a lot of restaurants in China town this place was by far clean and roomy. The service was friendly and helpful. Most places don't have this, but w ordered the Banh Xeo (Vietnamese crepe) to start and omg it was HUGE! Like 3x my hand and only for only $13! We were able to feed the 4 of us comfortably. I loved the crispness and the filling consisting of yellow bean, shrimp, and brisket. It was cooked nicely and not drenched in oil. For my meal I ordered the seafood and meat combo dried egg noodle. Again, portions were huge! I took it home for dinner too lol. Taste was not bad, but I preferred other versions of this, cause it lacked a sauce. Still tasty when you add in the sriracha sauce and garlic chili on the side. Overall pricing was great, portions were huge, and service was nice. Im very very upset about her services but I let it's because I'm tied all day at work I just want pick up my food & go home .. the. This pho place is located within 5 min from me so we decided to try this place, and I have to say I'm disappointed. The soup was lukewarm and the noodles were not pho (rice) noodles but spaghetti noodles that smelled like rotten fish. I'd recommend you go elsewhere for pho. read more

OK, up front you should know that this restaurant is my favorite on the island and quickly made me drop Pho 97 like a bad boyfriend (sorry Pho 97, no offense meant). Here's the thing, Pho Que Huong is just better. It's cleaner, it's roomier, it's more welcoming, the staff seems happier and, yes, the food tastes better. I'm pretty standard when it comes to orders at most Vietnamese restaurants. Pho with brisket and rare steak, add the soup fat and green onions, steak on the side, a BBQ pork banh mi, add extra jalapenos and sometimes a roll. This is my jam, my happy place meal that makes me smile and sigh every time I order it. At Pho Que Huong it has always been a harmony of deliciousness and freshness. The pho broth is perfectly seasoned, the banh mi is crispy, chewy and meaty, the rolls are always yummy and even their peanut and fish sauces are bomb. A few times I've tried their fresh made desserts set out on the counter. A fried banana dish (drool worthy) and a fun drink with sweetened condensed milk, herbs, fruits and seeds that was probably the prettiest and most interesting dish I've ever tried. I even came by on Saturday and they had my ALL TIME FAVORITE snack on special, bun cuon. Bun cuon is a dish made from large, flat rice noodle sheets that are filled with ground pork, woodear mushrooms and whatever else is in them, kinda like a sauce-less and extremely delicate ravioli that you dunk in fish sauce and, if you're me, loads of chili. Their's was SOOOOOOOO good I wanted to cry. They served it with fresh mint, bean sprouts, sliced cucumbers and some type of fried shrimp cake that was just absolutely perfect. Oh, and it was topped with crisp fried onions. Basically a texture orgy with deliriously good flavors. My favorite part of coming here? The staff always remembers us, smiles, asks how we were are and even knows our favorite condiment (it's peanut sauce) and brings it out, whether or not we order anything that actually requires peanut sauce. Why did it take me this long to try this place?! This place was packed when I was picking up my takeout & lots of Vietnamese families pulling up in vans to head inside, so it must be a good sign! Food was so good! I've been hoping around from pho place to pho place because food just hasn't been consistent and prices can be outrageous. I definitely found the spot I will only be ordering frequently from. Ordered the Vietnamese desserts on top of our noodles and they were delicious! Only issue is I called for takeout and it kept hitting voicemail but I tried again 20 mins later and I got through. What did poor Huong do to deserve the hate? Joshing aside, que huong translates to father land, ie. country of origin, this Vietnamese restaurant is solid with some unique dishes (they serve kid) other than the usual pho. Besides, the menu boasts loads of spelling errors, always a good sign. The pho broth is neither heavily extracted or spiced. Mild but not watered out, beef and marrow flavor, with hints of ginger, and star anise. Standard noodles, and garnishes. Clean, soft tendon and tripe. Standard quality brisket. No complaints. For a starter, the fried quail, marinated in lemongrass and basil, very flavorful with a hint of gamy flavor but overcooked in some areas, tough, and dry. Think of it as jerky and you're good. Also note worthy, the deep fried whole fish. Over cooked by western standards. The skin, dusted with flour, is crisp, the flesh, almost fluffy and slightly dry. Take a piece, hope for no bones, wrap it in lettuce with mint and shredded marinated daikon and enjoy. A hit of sambal adds a warming heat. Simple and refreshing. The main attraction, kid! Vietnamese Goat Hot Pot (Lau De) was OK but soup base lacks extraction (I've had the real deal). The bones needed to be cooked much longer to bring out the natural sweetness and gamy flavor of the goat. Additionally, the broth could have used more fish sauce for complexity. Spices (lemongrass, ginger, garlic, turmeric) add to the flavor. Note: Unlike other hot pots where you layer things in, for this one, toss everything in the pot at once (including the noodles) and let boil for 15 minutes. Remove everything (noodles on the bottom topped by the rest), sauce and eat. Asian service. BYOB a plus. Parking, yeah right, it's China Town. Different which makes it exciting with solid staples for the less adventurous. read more

I ordered the Bun Bo Hue, Banh Xeo, Pho and Vietnamese yogurt here. The BBH seemed super authentic and even had pigs blood! They also gave the authentic vegetables served with BBH, such as banana blossoms! The banh xeo was also delicious, as any crispy banh xeo can be. The yogurt was served before our meal, even though it was a dessert, which I expected to be served afterwards. It was yummy and reminded me of my childhood. The issue we had was with the pho. My boyfriend got the pho and he said the broth was weird for him, not a typical pho broth. He couldn't even finish it half way and had no appetite anymore. After we left, my boyfriend had a massive stomach ache. I see other people raving about their pho so maybe we got a bad batch, but seeing my boyfriend suffer over something as simple as pho put a bitter taste in our mouths and I don't think we will be coming back :( read more

What a coincidence that I get a text from my sister on Saturday asking me if I wanted to go eat Bung Rieu on Sunday with my mom. At 2 am I was still up and on Yelp, I saw this business popped up as "hot & new" and I clicked on the business page, checked out the photos and read all 6 reviews. Parking for Pho Que Huong, municipal parking or street parking. Since it was Sunday we were lucky to score a street parking and perfect that we didn't have to feed the meter. My Observation: I really like the ambiance of this new restaurant, They have about 20 tables, every table is numbered. The restaurant is very nice and clean. I loved seeing the paintings of Vietnam on the wall. They have all new dining tables and chairs. I like the fancy business name in front of cashier. Both men and women's restroom has Bath and body works soaps. I like the easy to peruse menu, with the bamboo picture. The prices are reasonable. FOOD: Our orders during this visit: 2 bowls of Bung Rieu ( crab soup) 12.00 1 bowl pho 1 Nem Nuong Rolls 8.00 1Banh Xeo 12.00 We shared and enjoyed everything except for the pho, I'll say that we had better. One of my sister and mom 's favorite are the bung rieu, so they know this type of soup very well. They said the Bung Rieu passed. The bung rieu comes with the thinner vermicelli noodles, ( I don't like the thicker ones) 2 other tables ordered the banh xeo and I was amazewd at how huge they were. I asked the customer at the 2 tables about the banh xeo and they both recommended it. We ordered the banh xeo and boy that was filling and very tasty. Did I mentioned that it was huge! The veggies that came with our noodle soup and banh xeo was plentiful and fresh. The nem nuong rolls were very good. I loved the fish sauce, the fish sauce was perfect, it made the nem nuong rolls and ban xeo taste even better. The secret to every Vietnamese restaurant is their fish sauce. SERVICE: Our service was alright, we understand, they were busy and still adjusting. Our food did take longer to arrive. The waiter, not sure if he is the owner's son didn't understand what we had requested. My sister had to speak in Vietnamese. I asked my mom what Que Huong stands for and she said Que is cinnamon and Huong means smells good. I tried putting that meaning together but I still don't get it. OVERALL, We really enjoyed our first time lunch experience here at Pho Que Huong. As I am eating my food, I was thinking about Vietnam. The cleanest restaurant in Chinatown. I mean even the restrooms were nice and clean. Food isn't as good. We ordered a bánh xèo (Vietnamese crepe), lemon beef salad, bún riêu (crab noodle soup), Vietnamese yogurt and a coconut jelly. Crepe was big and good. Lots of veggies and fish sauce was also good. Love their yogurt and coconut jelly. Lemon beef salad wasn't was good. Beef was well-done. If I'm not mistaken, the beef should be a little rare and soft. Lots of lettuce at the bottom so not much beef. Bún riêu was so bland, good portion but no taste. I kept putting more fish sauce in. I'm glad we tried it but most likely wouldn't return. read more

I right away put it in my "to eat" list and thats how i ended up here tonight! Ambience: this place had been 2 pho places before, still looks the same just different pictures on the walls. Now, don't expect to have a dungennes crab floating in your soup but just crab patty, its $12 so i guess you cant ask much, however it also has shrimp, tofu, pig feet? And other things that i had no clue what they were but i guess i am better off not knowing what it was ;) -Deep fried crispy whole cod fish ($15) Pretty good too but what i loved the most was the rice hot pot that came with it!
