Cooked well and not too soft like the last time. The beef a little stringy but good. I forget I wanted to try the duck, so will do next time. It was a little oily...not sure if that's the sauce or from the spice. I got it spicy...not sure what the spice levels are but it started off manageable and then just kept building. 5 minutes later and my lips were still tingling...but I enjoy that. I think on the Wuss Scale, I fall about in the middle. It is a filling bowl...so much so I can barely eat half. Lot of meat, lot of noods, lot of veggies. Think the hubs finishes most usually. The curry and mushroom options are great too, and come in no spice options for those who can't handle the heat. The bok choy was also fantastic. A co-worker and I were in a rush to get (and eat) lunch. We walked over to Maunakea Street to see if Youpo Noodles could fill our orders quickly. Yay, all of the diners in the restaurant were served so we placed a take-out order for Beef with extra noodles ($20) and Cumin Lamb with extra noodles ($22). While waiting, I spoke to a diner about watches ... Haha, we're both owners of Breitling watches. I'll get back on point ... We waited about 5 minutes and walked back to our office on King and Smith and proceeded to "chow down". This was my second visit to Youpo ... Originally, I thought the portion was too small for me and definitely too small for my co-workers. Ordering extra noodles ($3) made the dish "perfect". Now I can give Youpo 4+ stars for their food. The Cumin Lamb is spicy, but not too spicy ... Like Goldilocks said, "It's just right." And, the noodles have just the right amount of chew. While I may quibble about $22 for a seemingly small container of lamb and noodles, it did fill me up so it was perfectly sized. Recommended! read more

Delicious noodle restaurant in Chinatown. It's a pretty small and cozy establishment, I almost walked past it when I was looking for it. There's probably about 10 tables tops inside the restaurant. I ordered the Cumin Lamb Noodles and the Chicken Wings. The lamb noodles were very good. The lamb had a great flavor to them, kinda reminded me of quality birria beef in a way but obviously with Asian inspired flavors. The noodles were cooked perfectly and were soft and chewy. I'd give this dish a A if I were using a school grading scale. The wings were HOT out of the grease when I received them which I appreciated but I had to wait awhile for them to cool down. Quality whole chicken wings. The wings had a light batter so they weren't super crunchy but still had just enough to leave you satisfied texturally. The glaze on the chicken isn't overpowering but it's very good. I feel like everything about this dish was light which is weird to say about a fried chicken dish but I mean it in a positive way. I would give it a B, definitely worth a try. The service was solid and I will definitely be back. My only complaint is the restaurant was very warm. Friends and I went on as soon as they opened for the day and they were great! The noodles are fresh and chewy, and all the ones we tried had amazing flavor! We ordered the duck, shrimp and pork curry, and mushroom tofu, and everyone loved their choices. Mine was the duck and the meat was so moist, tender, and all the toppings and sauces were honestly delicious. I opted to go one level above the spiciness it already comes with, and it still wasn't super spicy. The bok choy small plate was also super yummy and I wanted to drink the sauce and douse it in everything. Sure, it's Chinatown and parking is, well you know, Chinatown parking, but I'd say it's worth it. Just brave the municipal lots or get lucky with street parking, haha. Make it an adventure. My 1st try of this style noodle! Delicious Quaint little restaurant in Chinatown, Honolulu. A friend introduced me, and sent me the menu in advance so we could order. Hand pulled noodles sounded good so having passed by this place many times, it was time to check them out. Small but nice place with tables to dine in or take out. You order at the window and the food is brought out to you. This place is not for those who have no spice tolerance although the dishes we had wasn't bad at all (1 level spice) and I'm pretty much a spicy weenie. Most of the items are 3-4 spice level. So we ordered the cumin lamb noodle ( it was rated as 2 spice but the they took it down to 1) and the Curry Shrimp & Pork noodle (level 1) $17 and a lychee tea $3. Btw, I was pleasantly surprised to see this place DOESN'T charge the credit card fee like the many other places do now. So the food-- Cumin lamb noodle ($19) - the noodles were flat and wide as they are hand pulled. Had a nice chewy texture and not hard or tough. The lamb flavor really popped out with the cumin. I would say the flavor pretty much jumped out at me. If you're not into the gaminess of lamb, this dish may not be the one for you. The lamb meat was shredded and added on top with some kind of sauce. Very good and had a decent amount of shredded lamb. I did feel that $19 was a bit pricey for the dish though. Curry Shrimp & Pork Noodle ($17)-- was a huge hit with hubby. The curry was more a southeast Asian kind. He said there was a "sour" note to it that made it very savory and addicting. He couldn't really describe it but he said he couldn't stop eating it. Big time umami! There was a good amount of pork and shrimp over those nice chewy noodles. Although it was listed as level 1 spice, it wasn't spicy at all. Could've had a little kick at least. For $17, he thought it was reasonable. Lychee Tea ($3)-- loved it! Wasn't very sweet, just enough subtle sweetness. The staffer said she made it goji berries. Try this one! One thing though, I had to dock off a star because we found the noodle dishes very very salty. Not sure how the sauces were done but I couldn't eat very much. I'm glad that Youpo Noodles returned. They finally have their own brick and mortar store located in Chinatown between HK Cafe and DDJ Hawaii. Does anyone remember Rosarina Pizza? They have taken over that space. I would often go to Kakaako Farmers Market and Honolulu Farmer Market at Neil Blaisdell Center to get some of their hand-pulled noodles. Visited a couple of times around their grand opening day. I ordered curry shrimp and pork and the noodles were a bit thicker than before and the sauce was scarce. It was different than how it used to be at the farmer markets. However, during Chinatown's Lunar New Year festival, I've revisited after some time passed and got the curry shrimp and pork again as well as the duck. Both were a huge improvement. The noodles were thin and the sauces for both has the perfect amount. Super savory and flavorful. Definitely the same taste as how I missed it before. Overall, glad that they reopened and have their own space. I will definitely revisit whenever I'm in Chinatown. The owner is very nice. He's currently the only one working in the kitchen preparing the noodles and sauces. I also spoke with him for a bit and he's planning to do some pop-up dinners featuring Malaysian and Indonesian inspired dishes that he's very passionate about. read more

Located in China town, they advertised about their hand pull noodle. They do, I saw the guy behind the counter, hand pulling the noodle right before he starts cooking. The restaurant is not too big, like a family style environment. The menu is pretty simple and for each style of noodle choice, they placed a spicy on it, the more signs you have on that style of noodle, the most spicy that noodle is by default, you can only subtract one level of spicy. For example, if they have four spicy signs, they can only knock it down to three spicy level. Also, the noodle is not prepared in a lot of soup base. It is more like a sauce. The noodle is very thick, not skinny at all. Personally, I prefer my noodle in a lot of broth and soup base and for that reason, this is not my favorite place to be. But I can only find out when I come here to try. As a foodie and Yelp reviewer, I will try any restaurant at lease once. Go try this out, may be you will like it. It's about $17 for an entree, which is okay when considering the big portions. Among the noodle options are ones with meats such as chicken and duck. We got the Mushroom Tofu Noodles. It's the spiciest one they have. This has bean sprouts, bok choy, green onions, maitake mushrooms, pak choy, sesame seeds, and tofu. Has lots of noodle options plus a few other things on the menu. If you're like me and need your biang biang noodle fix in Honolulu, this is the place to go! If the name sounds familiar, Youpo Noodles used to be a staple at several farmer's markets on island, including Wednesdays at the Blaisdell and Saturdays on Ward. Now that they have their brick and mortar shop in Chinatown and offer takeout/delivery, I can officially get these noodles whenever I want instead! Dangerous but totally worth it, especially when I used to be so spoiled with Xi'an Famous Foods! The menu options for the noodles come with different proteins and different spice levels including Beef, Cumin Lamb, Duck, Curry Shrimp and Pork, and Mushroom Tofu. When I spoke with the person who took my order, she mentioned that they can adjust spice to either make it as spicy as you want or one level less spicy than what is advertised. Over the years, I've tried every noodle dish they have, with the mushroom tofu I ordered during this visit being the last one to complete the menu. I normally order the Beef noodle as it's the spiciest one on the menu (along with the mushroom tofu), but I absolutely loved the spice and flavor of the mushroom tofu, and it's vegan for those of you who are going plant-based. One of my friends ordered the beef, while another friend ordered the mushroom tofu with less spice and both of them loved it! We also split the chicken wings (four wings in the order), which was cooked with honey, szechuan peppercorns and chilis. The chicken wings were so good, we cleared the plate before I even remembered to take a photo! Service was great! The person at the counter was really sweet and also offered suggestions as needed. The space seats maybe 15-20 people max, and is one of those places where you place your order at the counter and if you plan to dine in, take a seat at an open table while they bring out your food. Parking in Chinatown is what it is! If you can find street parking, great! If not, there's numerous parking garages and paid lots in the area. When I went in around 12pm there was only ones person in front of me and I was able to get my takeout order in under 15min, the service here is wonderful. The waitress was very kind. When I went home to eat it was still warm and the pork and shrimp curry had so much flavor to it! I would highly recommend this one to all people who don't like spice. Don't get me wrong, the noodles were very fresh- they are hand pulled after all. They were al dente and the sauce clung perfectly to the thick, wide noodles. However, I just wanted that Mmmm wow factor. The way I do when I eat Thai Pad Se Ew or a good Chinese cake noodle. I ordered the mushroom tofu one and my son had the beef one. The vegetables were stir-fried correctly not overcooked at all. I loved everything, it's just the flavor was lacking. Loved the spiciness too but I think it was just flat. It needed that umami. I give you 5 stars for friendliness and attentiveness. The restaurant was empty that night, but I felt welcomed nonetheless and had a nice conversation with the friendly cashier person taking the order. The restaurant is small and cute and cozy. You can see straight into the back where they prepare your foods. The menu isn't extensive, so you can choose pretty quickly. The sauces on the two bowls of noodles that were tried were delicious. The beef noodle was one and the beef was soft and the sauce was great. The other was the shrimp curry which deceived my idea of possibly finding any protein, so it was rather surprising. The sauce on this was delicate and tasty, however if you possibly throw a few shrimp in there it would satisfy the noodle dish, in my opinion. As others have stated, I know this is hand pulled noodles, but I remember them in China not being so thick and heavy. I feel if the noodles were thinner it would absorb that sauce flavor more, be less difficult to chew and have a lighter feel to the delicate sauces they are balanced with. For the price point, I know that you have a restaurant rent, supply cost, workers, electricity, taxes, etc (restaurant running is expensive), however the price point for literally three pulled noodles and some sauce doesn't match for my taste. When I eat out at the expense that is asked for a customer, I would like to feel content all around. I can have dim sum for this price, and I feel I would get a lot more for my $'s worth. I love this concept and wish them well. If maybe the noodles were thinner, the sauce stay the same, and more was given (protein especially) then it's a well balanced meal. Or else you may sell more by lowering the price of the items and keep the same amount. This place was really delicious and had very tasty noodles. We got the beef, duck, and mushroom noodles and it was all fantastic. The only thing was our experience with the chicken wings; for $20 you get 4 full size wings, and after biting one of the pieces we received, it gushed out with blood. It was a real bummer especially since our experience up until then was solid. I let the cashier know and she had let the cook know but all we got was an apology. I would definitely come back to try to give them another shot, but I wish they would've at least offered to reimburse us for the chicken piece I ate. Otherwise, noodles were great! read more

I would rate it higher if the price was a bit lower. Everything was good, but it felt like it was in between fancy foodie food to street food that should serve a family. Taste was divine and menu simple but they did everything well, which is what I prefer. The other reason why I say it was between fancy foodie and no nonsense Asian food in Chinatown is when the bill comes, the fancier places seem to expect bigger tips but this wasn't that fancy. My 1980s tastebuds were weaned in Alice Waters in the bay area and then the Pacific Asian fusion of the 90s where presentation and showmanship counted as much as the food. When I saw it in IG I assumed it was a grand opening where we could dine inside. We took it to go. My friend and I had the lamb. We tried the shrimp curry a d the shredded duck noodle dish. The curry was a light flavored curry while the duck dish was much more flavorful snd hot spicy. The problem were the extra large firm noodles, which were your only option. They were too large and stiff to enjoy. Would prefer either the thin egg noodle of chow fun noodles as alternate choices. They would sell more if different noodle options were offered.. just a suggestion to boost your business. Otherwise, the flavors were lovely and would have been better over other types of noodles. This is a small hole in the wall place in China Town. They make their own noodles which are very wide. There are only about 5 or 6 main dishes which vary in spiciness from 1 to 4 chilies on menu, tho dishes can b made hotter. Meats vary from beef , lamb, shrimp, pork and vegetarian. We ordered Youpo noodles for pick up on a Friday. Their brick and mortar location is in Chinatown. We ordered a bunch of noodle dishes to try: keiki noodle, mushroom tofu noodle, curry shrimp and pork noodle, beef noodle, and cumin lamb noodle. Each noodle dish has a slightly different flavor than the next. The spice level was awesome, and the keiki noodle had none. I got the mushroom tofu noodle and the mushrooms were great. I had to get everything tossed around in the sauce after I tried a bite because it wasn't flavorful. But that sauce was so good with the veggies. The noodles, or should I say noodle, was literally one long piece. The noodle was nice and chewy but not as thick feeling as you would think. I thoroughly enjoyed the type of noodle with the dish. I had to try the curry noodle dish because it was totally different than mine. Then there was the cumin lamb which has a great cumin flavor. I have to say, this was a very different tasting dish and I wish they had more options and sit down options since I'm sure this would taste so much better there!
