I've came a few times, once with family and the other times with friends. The first time, my family was not impressed. The pho soup didn't taste authentic and like it was cooked for hours and with passion. The spring rolls feel apart easily and the sweet and sour sauce tasted bland and watery. Service was fine, the servers polite. The other times with friends were better experiences. The soup tasted more flavorful and the spring rolls tasted savory. The place itself is quaint and cozy. This is the go-to spot for Vietnamese food if you're on this part of the island. The staff is very nice, kind, and friendly. They treat you like a friend, not just a customer that comes and goes. Now onto the food: Food is amazing. My personal favorites are typically grilled chicken and/or grilled pork with rice. They do this amazingly well. Their chicken and pork is very flavorful and have great consistency. Grilled enough for proper blackening of the meat while maintaining the tenderness on the inside, without burning it or drying it out. They don't skimp on portions either. You get two full size pieces of pork on a huge bed of rice. The pho offerings are complete as well and definitely comparable to any Viet place in BK or CT. Appetizers such as spring rolls are cooked well, and they use authentic thin wraps; not the overly fried and thick wraps that most "fusion" restaurants use. As a bonus, they offer a grilled chicken w/ curry sauce and rice dish. Although this is not an authentic Viet dish, it's surprisingly good and flavorful without being spicy. The atmosphere is what you'd expect from any other Viet eatery, sans Viet music. Seating may be limited during dinner hours and weekends so waiting for a table is a possibility. Parking may be limited depending on the time of the day. Their block operates on NYC muni-meters but there are plenty of side streets with no parking rules if you don't mind walking a few steps. read more

Was really having a strong hunger for Pho. Got to be honest and was kinda disappointed. Not as good as Pho on Richmond Ave. Vermicelli appeared thicker than I've had before, more spaghetti like, then rice noodles. I was more pickled vegetables in the vermicelli and the fish sauce on the side, seemed to be absorbed by the huge noodles. Been here 2x. Some restaurants are just have all their bases covered - such as good cooks, management, servers and ambiance. Pho II is such a place. All of their dishes are well served and cooked. Services is very respectful and curious. Ambiance is warm and inviting. My wife asked if she could have more chicken broth - to which I was expecting an extra charge, as everything an automatic reason to tack on a dollar. This place was good! Family run and very friendly staff. The prices are incredible. My bo luc lac was tasty (meat was a little tough but was flavorful) and we were brought hot tea upon arrival (loved this since it was chilly out) The place is small but cozy. I had never eaten pho and was longing to try it for a very long time, so when we dined here we tried to order a lot of food and share it around the table. I ordered the beef pho which was delicious- broth was amazing!!! The beef was cooked so yummy. My husband ordered chicken and my friends ordered pork. Can't remember the names of the dishes but everything was delicious. You should know that food is meant to be wrapped in a lettuce leaf - we didn't completely understand this, but still enjoyed all the food so much. Pho was half decent but, what made me more annoyed was the horrible service. Every time we asked for something, the waitress would roll her eyes and give us dirty looks or throw it on the table. Not worth the trip to feel uncomfortable while you are eating. After we got our food she didn't even come back once to check on us. I ordered takeout from here for the first time today. The food came quickly and the soup was still hot and fresh when it came. The broth was flavorful and they had a decent portion of meat. The beansprouts, lemon, lettuce and other ingredients were very fresh. The spring rolls paired well with the noodles and soup. The menu was pretty large and offered lots of options for a vegetarian like myself. Pho Rainbow is an excellent restaurant ! Not only is the restaurant sanitary, but also very pretty. The decor gives a great atmosphere. The staff is friendly, welcoming and speak English very well. The food is very well prepared and tastes even better than it looks ! There is a big menu, consisting of many different selections of Vietnamese food, without it being over priced. One thing that really stands out to me, is the special drink selections. They have a great selection of drinks ranging from regular soft drinks and tea, to unique Asian drinks such as avocado with condensed milk and an egg yolk soda drink ! Another thing great about this restaurant is that there is a television with different types of music being displayed, so customers won't be bored from a continuous playlist that most restaurants acquire. The bathrooms are spacious and sanitary as well as the rest of the restaurant, which is a must for any restaurant. Tried this place 3 weeks ago because I was trying to find a pho place in the area. The pho here is amazing within 3 weeks this is my 4th time back. I tried the calamari today and really tender makes you realize other places over cook their calamari you will see the difference when you try it here. I stick with the beef pho which is amazing every time I get it. Got it for pick up last time and very impressed that they packed everything separate even the noodles are separate from the broth. We showed up late on a Saturday evening and had no trouble parking. We arrived and ordered spring rolls and pho. As well as a pork vermicelli dish. The food was great and the broth was okay. Vietnamese is one type of cuisine I have never gotten into, and not because I didn't like it, just haven't passed many vietnamese restaurants in my time. I have had take out Bun Bo Xio (Sauteed Beef over Rice Noodles) from a few places over the years so I decided to try it at Pho Rainbow. The beef was sauteed perfectly and had amazing flavor. When combined with the noodles, greens, peanuts and sauce, perfection. Almost went back to try something else for dinner. I will definitely be frequenting this place. So cheap as well. $7.50 for a great portion that kept me filled up all day (obviously noodles are very filling no matter what) Keep up the great work. So far there is no place in Staten Island that sells Banh Mi. I was overly excited when I found out that it was on their menu. I ordered 2 spicy Grilled Pork Banh Mi and an orange soda to go. When they brought out my food I was kinda curious on that the Banh Mi unusually short (compared to the other places i have been to), so I took a bite anyway and was surprised. There was so much flavor in the meat and the vegetables. Every bite had a good amount of meat and vegetables and the flavor was great. This is the only Pho place on Staten Island that makes Vietnamese Sandwiches! I have been waiting for a Pho restaurant to open on the island that sells it. The restaurant is beautiful with friendly staffs that can speak english as well. Prices for the food are fair considering the quality of the foods. One of the best Viet restaurants I have ever been to in a while. The waitresses were very attentive, I came with my husband and a friend who has a young toddler and was immediately offered a baby seat. We ordered the fried chicken wings, spring rolls and calamari for apps, they all really good but chicken wings were definitely a fav at our table. The pho soup is really homey and you will NOT feel dehydrated afterwards, as they do not use MSG in their broth. My husband ordered the avocado shake and it was amazing. I'm not a fan of avocado shakes but this one was just perfect, not too sweet and the ice was blended really well. This is NOT Vietnamese food. They have no idea how to make it. They use regular noodles instead of the thin rice noodles, the peanut sauce is horrible looks like vomit. The spring rolls taste like nothing. Haven't tried the soups but they just don't know how to make Vietnamese food at all. Go to Empire East they have a good Vietnamese menu. read more
