The older couple who works here are very friendly. My first time here. Loved the oxtail pho, the beef balls pho, and the banh mi the sauce was so moist inside. Prices were very reasonable. Simple store and clean. Ambiance casual.

This is the pho happiest day of my life. I found out that the original owners of pho 999 took over this pho restaurant 3 weeks ago. Oh my gosh sooooo delicious. It was so good to see the familiar faces the out out great food. Our family and friends are so happy. As always great service. The restaurant isn't big but great layout. Can't wait for the weather to cool down so we can sit outside. Night time would be great on the patio. Go and try them, won't be disappointed

coffee cafe su da hit strong the pho was alright and the bun bo hue was ok but better than some places prices were affordable than most places I dont recommend the spring roll because they dont use thick cut bbq pork protein, its like a thin sliced of cold meat and was different this was an ok spot, price points were good.

I popped in to get some soup for dinner. I can always eat wontons or pho! When I'm in South Reno, I usually stop a few doors down to Tea leaf. It has been sometime since I had been here, so I came here instead. The good: 1.) The broth was flavorful. Everyone that loves a good soup knows that's the heart of it. 2.) The male cashier who took my order. A younger Asian guy was friendly and helpful. The not so good: 1.) The not so friendly hispanic girl that was working the podium. I could have done without her attitude and bad looks. 2.) Value. Their prices are higher for a large, but there is no difference physical difference in the quantity of the soup IE wontons or noodles. 3.) The wait. I was there for almost an hour waiting. They didn't have any tables. They need to work on their kitchen's time management. Anywhere else in town, I would have to wait no more than 20 minutes whether I called ahead or just showed up. 4.) Taro milk tea boba is a no. I wouldn't order this again. It was bland in flavor and their boba pearls weren't soft or chewy. Next time I'm in South Reno, I'll go a few doors down.

I like this small charming shop. It has that family run feel to it, and the attention to detail in the food shows how they care. I was in the mood for pho on a rainy Sunday. I ordered Pho Gau and a Thai tea. The pho broth was savory and soothing on a cold day. Packed with rice noodles, brisket slices, scallions and red onion, it was a perfect meal. I've been trying to keep calories low recently and it was a delicious meal that left me satisfied. The tea was creamy and full of flavor. I will be back again and again.

I've eaten here over the past several years so I know what to expect. I mostly get the #24- Grilled Pork Vermicelli w/ . I just like how they cook their pork and shrimp. I had to get peanuts on the side since some family members are allergic. The staff was friendly when I went to pick-up my order. I get home right after and prepared to eat my late lunch, what initially seemed like a tiny piece of burned/charred meat started moving and then I saw the 2 antennae on it and guessed cockroach. I'm not afraid of bugs but my appetite went away. Sad to say, this might be the last time I get food from this place.

Ordered spring rolls and chow fun with pork! Noodles were cooked well and flavored nicely! I was a bit disappointed with the spring rolls, the lettuce inside had gone bad, so it had a funky texture and taste. Food came out quickly and staff was nice. Convenient location near shopping areas, so parking may be a bit annoying.

Hands down the beat Pho in Reno!!! Amazing customer service as well!! Sam was awesome and the nicest person I have met! Very kind and we made great converstaion. Thanks Sam for making my day!

My husband and I wandered in this modest little shop absolutely starving to death one Saturday morning, this was just what we needed! We were welcomed by the friendly employees and our food started flying out of the pass! We started with an order of the cheesiest crab Rangoon I have ever seen. They were piping hot and the perfect way to start our meal. We also enjoyed an order of their chicken wings, which were crispy and went so perfectly with the dipping sauce. My husband had a vermicelli bowl with beef and golden rolls, he absolutely loved it and I can confirm that it was wonderful. The rolls were crispy and flavorful, the meat juicy and the noodles always soak up the juices in a magical way. I had their special, a pork chop. It was amazing! Tender, juicy, smoky. Served with rice, a small salad and SHRIMP! Honestly, just perfect. This was our first time stopping in but it absolutely will not be our last!

We were all hungry, some of us HANGRY. We ordered a huge amount of food. The kitchen did their very best to continually pump out our orders. We put in one order and then another order for other things went in. We had a large group. Some people in our group even had food allergies at the kitchen was able to work with. Our table space was I believe for about 15 to 18 people. They quickly put tables and chairs together for our group and allowed us all to sit together. The employees were so nice. I'm sure it had something to do with how much food we ordered. But also, I noticed we were there very close to closing time. I'm so glad that we were able to have a large group meal together and so much more happy, too, that the restaurant worked out and that we all left with full bellies.

The service was fast and welcoming, and the restaurant was clean and well-maintained. For such a small restaurant, they were constantly busy, turning over 5-6 tables within about an hour, which was impressive to see. The only challenge was parking, but that's pretty normal for downtown Reno. Overall, it was a good first visit, and I'd definitely stop by again to try more of their dishes next time!

Disappointing Experience and Unexpected Charges…read more We visited this Vietnamese restaurant during our trip to 205 West 5th Street, Reno, NV 89503 . It was recommended by our tour guide, and since we were unfamiliar with the area, we followed the recommendation. Unfortunately, our experience was disappointing. The restaurant's interior was quite old and dated. We also noticed flies flying around inside the dining area, which was unpleasant. The food also took about 15-20 minutes to arrive, even though we only ordered three bowls of Vietnamese noodles. The biggest disappointment came when we received the bill. The three noodle dishes were $15.95, $16.50, and $16.50, for a food subtotal of $48.95. We were then charged an $8.81 Service Fee. On top of that, an 18% tip of $10.40 was suggested, calculated after the Service Fee had already been added. With $4.05 in tax, the final total came to $72.21. In other words, the food itself was $48.95, while the Service Fee, tip, and tax added another $23.26, which was about 32% of the final bill. I understand that restaurants have operating costs and that tipping is common in the U.S. However, I personally find it difficult to understand why customers are charged a Service Fee and then encouraged to leave an additional 18% tip calculated on top of that fee. This review is not about the food price itself. My main concern is the overall experience and the lack of transparency regarding the additional charges. For tourists visiting Reno, NV 89503 area, I recommend checking the menu carefully and asking about any additional Service Fees before ordering.

We ordered the Vermicelli with Grilled Chicken, Dry Fried Beef Chow Fun, and Gai Lan with Beef. The portions were generous, and the prices were reasonable. With "Hong Kong Diner" in the name, I was expecting authentic Cantonese stir-fries with good wok hei. Unfortunately, the Dry Fried Beef Chow Fun lacked that signature smoky flavor, and the texture was closer to lo fun than traditional chow fun. The Gai Lan with Beef also lacked wok hei. The outer layer of the gai lan stems had been peeled away, so the stems lost the crisp texture that makes gai lan so enjoyable. The Vermicelli with Grilled Chicken was overly tender and quite salty. It seemed to be marinated so heavily that I couldn't really taste the natural flavor of the chicken. Overall, the restaurant offers generous portions, reasonable prices, and friendly service. I just wish the Cantonese dishes had delivered the wok hei I was expecting from a place with "Hong Kong Diner" in its name. :)

So, check out the menu before a visit to make sure they have what you are looking for. Pros: Yummy appetizers, spring rolls, vermicelli bowls, pho (beef was especially good), and speciality drinks. Con: They really toasted the bread on the Bahn mi, on all times someone at our table has ordered it, it is a struggle to eat, especially for smaller mouths/ those in braces.
