The restaurant has been transferred to the new Owners, renovated with a fresh new look and an updated menu. My family had a wonderful dining experience here. The food was delicious, the service was excellent, and the staff were incredibly attentive and welcoming. Most importantly, it has been a long time since I last enjoyed such authentic Vietnamese flavors. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a true taste of Vietnam.

I popped in to get some soup for dinner. I can always eat wontons or pho! When I'm in South Reno, I usually stop a few doors down to Tea leaf. It has been sometime since I had been here, so I came here instead. The good: 1.) The broth was flavorful. Everyone that loves a good soup knows that's the heart of it. 2.) The male cashier who took my order. A younger Asian guy was friendly and helpful. The not so good: 1.) The not so friendly hispanic girl that was working the podium. I could have done without her attitude and bad looks. 2.) Value. Their prices are higher for a large, but there is no difference physical difference in the quantity of the soup IE wontons or noodles. 3.) The wait. I was there for almost an hour waiting. They didn't have any tables. They need to work on their kitchen's time management. Anywhere else in town, I would have to wait no more than 20 minutes whether I called ahead or just showed up. 4.) Taro milk tea boba is a no. I wouldn't order this again. It was bland in flavor and their boba pearls weren't soft or chewy. Next time I'm in South Reno, I'll go a few doors down.

I like this small charming shop. It has that family run feel to it, and the attention to detail in the food shows how they care. I was in the mood for pho on a rainy Sunday. I ordered Pho Gau and a Thai tea. The pho broth was savory and soothing on a cold day. Packed with rice noodles, brisket slices, scallions and red onion, it was a perfect meal. I've been trying to keep calories low recently and it was a delicious meal that left me satisfied. The tea was creamy and full of flavor. I will be back again and again.

I've eaten here over the past several years so I know what to expect. I mostly get the #24- Grilled Pork Vermicelli w/ . I just like how they cook their pork and shrimp. I had to get peanuts on the side since some family members are allergic. The staff was friendly when I went to pick-up my order. I get home right after and prepared to eat my late lunch, what initially seemed like a tiny piece of burned/charred meat started moving and then I saw the 2 antennae on it and guessed cockroach. I'm not afraid of bugs but my appetite went away. Sad to say, this might be the last time I get food from this place.

Ordered spring rolls and chow fun with pork! Noodles were cooked well and flavored nicely! I was a bit disappointed with the spring rolls, the lettuce inside had gone bad, so it had a funky texture and taste. Food came out quickly and staff was nice. Convenient location near shopping areas, so parking may be a bit annoying.

My husband and I wandered in this modest little shop absolutely starving to death one Saturday morning, this was just what we needed! We were welcomed by the friendly employees and our food started flying out of the pass! We started with an order of the cheesiest crab Rangoon I have ever seen. They were piping hot and the perfect way to start our meal. We also enjoyed an order of their chicken wings, which were crispy and went so perfectly with the dipping sauce. My husband had a vermicelli bowl with beef and golden rolls, he absolutely loved it and I can confirm that it was wonderful. The rolls were crispy and flavorful, the meat juicy and the noodles always soak up the juices in a magical way. I had their special, a pork chop. It was amazing! Tender, juicy, smoky. Served with rice, a small salad and SHRIMP! Honestly, just perfect. This was our first time stopping in but it absolutely will not be our last!

Came here to finally check out this place with my son and husband. We first ordered spring rolls and egg rolls as appetizers. This is the only place I know that includes BBQ pork instead of grilled pork in their spring rolls. I was a little bit disappointed that 1 order of egg rolls only comes with 3. Wish it came with more because my family loves egg rolls. Anyways, I ordered the combination pho. The broth was good. The pieces of meat were a lot thicker than I'm used too which is good. Tried my son's chow mein and it had that yummy umami flavor. This place is probably on my top 3 pho places in Reno.

Great pho place at a really convenient location. The service is good, and the portions are decent. Their menu has a lot of great food worth trying. They also have outdoor seating, which is really awesome for summer.

Recently, I got rare steak pho and spicy chicken noodles with lemongrass broth. The pho broth was no longer thin, but very dark and salty. If there were the traditional pho spices like star anise, fennel, coriander, etc, they were heavily muted by the overwhelmingly salty beef flavor. There were hardly any garnishes (onion, cilantro, basil), so it felt just like a beef soup with noodles. The spicy chicken was spicy for sure, but the lemongrass flavor was nice and prominent. I'll try the regular chicken broth next time instead of the pho here and their fried rice (they used to have the fusion restaurant where the Brazilian steakhouse is on Virginia Street years ago, that had theee best fried rice ever with Chinese sausage). The spicy broth was too much for me (duh, the picture didn't look too spicy, but I'm a wimp) in the end, but I love fragrant Asian broths. For me, ironically, their Pho isn't their strong point, but I liked a lot of their other dishes at least in the past, so that's what I'll stick with in the future.

Service was horrid, We were greeted, sat, orders taken, food arrived. Zero check ins after food showed up. Which is surprising because after a single bite of the chowmein, the rest sat there untouched. She looked at me and the plate multiple times and never came over to see if everything was okay. Chowmein was swimming in grease, and since when has combo chowmein had bell peppers, mushrooms, and cauliflower? Tell me you bought frozen vegetable medley, without telling me. The pho was mid at best, my husband asked for his pho with no vegetables, and when it arrived, had onions and cilantro all up on top of that thing. Crab rangoons were trash in and out. How this place has 4 stars on yelp and 4.5 on google really has me wondering if they are paying their friends and family for the positive reviews with one review stating "pho comparable to what you would get in Vietnam" $64 dollars worth of food left on the table, and the lady at the front has the nerve to say "Please consider tipping" MA'AM, for what? All the food is on the table uneaten. Here's your tip, DO BETTER. Will keep to our usual spot at Pho777 downtown. Our mistake for wanting to try something new. Lesson learned.

For what? 3-4 bites total taken between my wife and I on this grease ridden food? No thank you. Maybe perhaps instead of having your server mean mug my wife, son and I sitting at our table perhaps using actual customer service, coming up to the table after seeing the bowl of untouched pho and a plate full of untouched chow mein sitting on the table parallel to us, perhaps coming up asking us "is everything okay??" Nope. Treated like shadows like we didn't exist. Will more than likely be disputing the charge due to the whole "please consider tipping" comment. Please consider Doing Better

We ordered the Vermicelli with Grilled Chicken, Dry Fried Beef Chow Fun, and Gai Lan with Beef. The portions were generous, and the prices were reasonable. With "Hong Kong Diner" in the name, I was expecting authentic Cantonese stir-fries with good wok hei. Unfortunately, the Dry Fried Beef Chow Fun lacked that signature smoky flavor, and the texture was closer to lo fun than traditional chow fun. The Gai Lan with Beef also lacked wok hei. The outer layer of the gai lan stems had been peeled away, so the stems lost the crisp texture that makes gai lan so enjoyable. The Vermicelli with Grilled Chicken was overly tender and quite salty. It seemed to be marinated so heavily that I couldn't really taste the natural flavor of the chicken. Overall, the restaurant offers generous portions, reasonable prices, and friendly service. I just wish the Cantonese dishes had delivered the wok hei I was expecting from a place with "Hong Kong Diner" in its name. :)

So, check out the menu before a visit to make sure they have what you are looking for. Pros: Yummy appetizers, spring rolls, vermicelli bowls, pho (beef was especially good), and speciality drinks. Con: They really toasted the bread on the Bahn mi, on all times someone at our table has ordered it, it is a struggle to eat, especially for smaller mouths/ those in braces.
