I was looking forward to try a decent place in Stockston. I was torn between this and k-town. Chose this place. When I had to pay they made me go to the front desk and the guy just told me the total and didn't show me an itemized bill. I had to ask for the bill and made sure it was accurate. Then when I paid, I saw crazy amounts of tips % like 20, 30 and 40% as the options. So I accidentally selected 40% and asked the guy to reserve it and cancel it so I can select the right tip amount and he said no because it was already approved and refused to reverse it to cancel it and give them the right tip amount. Decent place for pho in Stockton - we were passing by and stopped for a quick dinner. Ordered the chicken pho, bun bo hue, grilled pork and shrimp spring rolls and chicken wings to share. Both apps were pretty good but the pho was really lackluster with the chicken pho being too bland and the bun bo hue too sweet. My husband and I had just finished some shopping when we decided lunch was required to keep our hangry monsters at bay. This restaurant was in the same plaza we were at so we decided to give it a try. I had ordered the Ap Chao Hu Tieu and my husband ordered the Mi Ap Chao. His dish came out with deep fried egg noodles and exactly what I imagined ap chao to be like whereas my dish was more like regular chow fun noodles drenched in the "gravy" that they use. I am used to ap chao being more on the crunchy side so this was disappointing. It was still good, just not what I expected. I ordered some sweet and sour pork with fried rice here and the quality was great. The pricing is good too for the amount of food you get here. The menu they give you is a bit confusing, but after some time reading it it will become more understandable. The service is really fast and polite. He gets the number 63, bone in pork chop with fried rice and the chicken wings. I got the duck noodle soup and the shrimp spring rolls. If you like duck noodle soup, but struggle to find the duck in the noodle soup, come to this place... When you order duck noodle soup, you actually get nice chunks of duck... There are bones, but you get more meat than other places. The fried rice is fluffy and not too salty and the chicken wings are fried just right... A few days ago, I stepped in to purchase a gift certificate from Pho Saigon Bay only to be scoffed at for not dining in. The front desk person seemed agitated and made me feel a certain way for requesting it in the value of $10. (FYI: This gift certificate was one gift out of a few others I included in a Secret Santa.) Apparently, it's only worth their time to hand write the certificates out for $25+ otherwise it cannot be done. The manner that I was told and facial expressions ticked me off. This place is known for poor customer service and rude staff so I guess it's fitting. There was no one in line behind me nor anyone on the phone to be treated in such a way. I just want them to do better, respond pleasantly to customers, and maybe smile. They all need instruction on etiquette. It was literally wrapped inside my roll.I took it in and asked for a refund and the older lady that's always at the front said they don't do refunds. Been coming here for years. Their pho is pretty good and stays consistent to the flavor. The prices are alright not too bad. They did mess up my girls order once but they fixed and got her settled as soon as they could. Their milk teas they offer are alright. Was out and about on a shopping day and finally stopped at this place. I've been eyeballing it for some time now so I was happy to get to stop in for some pho. I was greeted and seated promptly. The restaurant looked clean and everyone was given plenty of space to be separate from other tables. They had print menus and a photo menu to go along so you would be able to see what your chosen dish might look like. This is a nice touch. I ordered a number 15, beef stew with rice noodles, and a salted lemon soda. I thought the soda was a little too sweet for my liking but then I stirred it up and it was better. It came in a to go cup in case I didn't finish it with lunch. The beef stew came out and smelled wonderful. I tasted the broth before adding any amendments and it was tasty. Not too salty and had a nice flavor. Some of the baby bok choy did not look very appetizing as it had black spots on it. I know that whatever it was was cooked and wouldn't harm me but it didn't look appetizing and so I removed it from the soup. The noodles and carrots were way over cooked. The noodles did not stay together and neither did the mushy carrots. If I return I'll try something else next time in the hopes that another dish will be better executed. read more
