However, I was recently in the North Shore for a rare cold snap, and Pho Saigon was just what the doctor ordered. I had the brisket and rare steak pho, and it was very good. I also ordered the pork and shrimp summer rolls, which were also good. The restaurant is kinda no-frills...it is in a strip mall after all. Best Pho in St. Tammany Parish, hands down! Their broth is consistently delicious, as well as generous portion sizes. My wife and I order the Bun Bo Hue (Spicy Lemongrass Broth w/ Brisket) practically every time, and no matter whose batch - it's ALWAYS flavorful! This is my favorite place to get pho or Vietnamese food in general! The broth is hot, flavorful, and the best around. The other dishes are always fresh and tasty, it's hidden and located in front of Walmart, the inside is a little dated but clean and the people are so nice, the food is worth it every time, you won't find a more flavorful broth and I have tried all the other pho places on the north shore. This is one of the best pho places in the Covington area. It's definitely not a fancy place. But if you're looking for no-frills value priced comfort food this is the place. I have tried everything from there bánh mì sandwiches to their pho and their Bun (rice Noodle bowls). And all of it delivers and authentic Vietnamese flavor. Wow! This spot is delicious, unpretentious, affordable and did I mention delicious? Wait staff and owner and super friendly and very helpful even if folks aren't familiar with Vietnamese food. The meatballs in their pho are to die for! Mr. B loves their Bún bò Huê. They serve it authentically with blood cake and ham hock, but they are happy to do substitutions for less adventurous eaters. We've also tried the pork summer rolls, and they are equally delicious. Everything is flavorful and perfectly seasoned. The owner is a really sweet lady who showed us how to cut up the spring roll and wrap it in a lettuce leaf and basil and sprouts before dipping it. Everyday si a good day for Pho and this week was no exception. Found a small gem where the Pho is tasty and the viet sandwiches are good. Pho Dac Biet (**** stars) broth was deep and flavorful and the noodles were not as sticky as I am used to. The viet sandwiches are excellent, EXCEPT for the bread. The roll are doughy and thick and I wish there was a better roll. The pate is savory and I wish the places in Gulfport/Biloxi use had it. I will be back. read more
