Without a doubt my favorite spot for asian food in Escondido! They have range of asian meals, but I've only had their pad thai, tom kha, and egg rolls. They were all so delicious. But I think what made my visits more memorable is the welcoming and friendly face of the owner who treats all their customers like an old friend. read more

The menu here is quite extensive, bringing together the cuisines of several regions of east Asia. I opted for the Thai drunken noodles, and it was an excellent choice. The first thing one might notice are the bright colors. The dish comes covered in many leaves of fresh basil, which also provide lovely fragrance and flavor. Underneath peek slices of bright red bell peppers and superbly grilled broccoli, together with the noodles themselves and all their other ingredients. It was truly uplifting to have a dish with red bell peppers, instead of the far more common and inferior green bell peppers. Same for the flavorful, toothsome, dark green grilled broccoli, as opposed to the, again, far more common, far inferior, pale green boiled version. The only somewhat disappointing segment of the dish was the chicken itself, whose flavor, alas, struck a slight disharmonious note; maybe it was having an off night and, hopefully, would be better on future visits. The crew started cleanup almost as soon as the kitchen closed, which was not in itself a problem, but whatever floor cleaning product was used stunk rather unpleasantly. So if you show up late, consider getting your food to go, or enjoying it outdoors. read more

I can't stop eating at this place! I mixed it up and tried the bbq pho with pork, oh man, so good. Same flavorful, aromatic, clear pho broth with bbq pork, just like it sounds. I think I met the owner for the first time today, really sweet Lady who was out serving the customers herself. Typical Vietnamese Decor in here, seating area is a little dated but clean and that adds to the vibe too. Saigon express is my favorite viet spot in north county by a long shot. read more

Stopped by here for lunch and it was a very disappointing experience. The rice was overcooked, the tofu was dry, and the lo mein was way too salty. We ordered chicken in the lo mein and the chicken tasted bad, so bad we couldn't even eat it. Then we got our bill, $63 for two people for lunch. This place is overrated, overpriced, and they didn't even have air conditioning so by the time we finished the disappointing meal we were sweating and uncomfortable and couldn't wait to get out of there. Tried this gem for the first time yesterday and I must say, Pho Saigon Express is just as good as all the pho spots in the Bay Area (if you know, you know!) and outbeats most Pho restos in San Diego so far, in our opinion of course. This is not your typical franchise or chain pho restaurant. The taste and flavors and quality of service speaks for itself. Definitely a must-try! One thing we were pretty shocked about is the diversity of their menu and the cleanliness being done! Menu - Plenty of Soups, appetizers, stir fry, and there was a handful of different flavors of Boba drinks. They also served Vietnamese Sandwiches with many different types as well. During our dine-in experience, we noticed many customers ordering drinks to-go in addition to their meals. Definitely will give their drinks a try on our next visit. Cleanliness - From our past pho restaurant experiences, we are always cautious when using the utensils and condiments that are left out on the tables so we always clean them before use. We are also used to seeing build-up on the lids/caps of the bottles which is fairly common. During our dine-in experience yesterday, one of the staff members (young man), was going around and replacing all the sriracha lids and other condiment lids/caps with clean new ones. Kudos to you kid. Mind blowing to us! Yes, it is a pandemic and cleanliness is a top priority for all businesses, but that right there is what you call going above and beyond customer expectations. Overall cleanliness was just extremely well cleaned compared to many other Asian restaurants. Items ordered: wife and I both ordered P1 Beef Combo soup. I did substitute mine with egg noodle. Flavors and aroma was all there and the meat was very tender. We also ordered salt and pepper chicken wings for appetizer. Definitely tasted fresh like it was handmade and was very crispy! Looking for authentic pho? Well you found it! This place has plenty of room and the service is fast (like all pho places). Although they may have been short staffed, they know how to be efficient. We get the pho and summer rolls (rice paper roll with noodles, meat and veggies). The soup was to our tastes and the rolls superb. The only reason why it wouldn't be a 5 is the cleanliness of the tables and chairs when we first sat down. There was probably a lot of turnover when we went so it's understandable. read more

Pho Saigon will always be such a reliable and consistent pho place with such a variety in the menu. The pho is always on point and serves such a good size in large or even small! The broth is light and filling and to be completely honest you can never go wrong with the pho dac biet. The seafood pho is also really good and rich in so many toppings! The chicken pho is also so good for when you're feeling a bit sickly!!! And omg the fried rice is soooooo perfect for the little ones and so soft that the rice just is so perfect even after I just got jaw surgery!!! So yummmy mmm. I'm getting hungry ahhaha. We went to our favorite Vietnamese restaurant today and was so happy that they're still open amidst the pandemic. (You won't miss it, they have an enormous O P E N sign on their windows) Priscilla made sure that service was still outstanding, she gave out tea to her customers while they were waiting for their orders. She also made sure that her restaurant follows social distancing and that she and her staff are properly wearing their PPEs (gloves, masks, etc.) She also provided hand sanitizers by the register for customers to use. I ordered the (R8) Grilled Porkchop and she gave us big chops to share which was very nice and thoughtful of her! She will happilly serve you. She would be happy to take your orders and then bring out your orders to your car if you'd like. It'll be a huge help for their business so don't hesitate to stop by! The service is always very friendly. The restaurant itself is very clean. I usually get my pho to go. I always get P 16 and it is always the same amount of excellence. They put so much effort into preparing the food and the packaging is always very neat. The broth is to die for And I recently got the cream cheese wontons and I love them the perfect amount of filling they were cooked to perfection and the sauce was thick and sweet. This place is large, there's plenty of parking (we walked), and the menu has over 100 choices. The tables and seats show wear but the place is clean and organized. The service is fast paced. The Vermicelli with pork and egg roll was okay but disappointing; egg roll lacks flavor, and pork had little flavor. The beef broth Vermicelli soup with vegetables is good. If we have been away and are coming home from a long drive this is the place we regularly refuel our tummies with before we go home. Pretty tasty food- I ordered the House Rice without shrimp cuz I don't like shrimp (I know, I know- I've heard it all), a bowl of Pho #16, and an order of egg rolls. I originally ordered 3 egg rolls but they gave me 6 and definitely charged me cuz just these three items- It was a total of $45. Oh! I also got a Thai boba tea, my bad. 4 items! Menu is extensive (ranging from Vietnamese to Thai to Chinese). Instead of a wide range, I prefer fewer items that are done well. It's not the quantity, but it's the quality. Food came out quickly. Spicy Pho Thai Tom Yum Soup was too spicy. Pad Thai noodles were overcooked & sticky. It did not come with a lime. Udon stir fry was too sweet. Pho was nothing worth mentioning. We also saw a man come out from the kitchen and plop himself down on the ground in front of the building to have a smoke. Nothing wrong with taking a break. But, not the best last impression either. The best Pho in town!! Hands down my favorite place to go. I love their beef pho broth with tofu or shrimp. So flavorful and fresh! I love getting the large so I have leftovers. I also recommend their Thai noodle soups. I am a big fan of the Tom Kha noodle soup with tofu, soooo good! The Tom Yum noodle soup is yummy too. I love getting the Tofu Spring rolls as an appetizer too! They are so good and it comes with a peanut sauce. They have a big menu so you will definitely find something you will like. My friend loves their chicken plates and sandwiches. Everything is amazing here and authentic. I love their drinks and smoothies as well. My to go to is their Thai tea with boba! The staff are all super friendly and bring your orders pretty fast. They take to go orders as well. You can call them ahead of time to place a pick it up order. I very seldom give 5 stars so here it goes :) 5 stars because I think it's the best beef broth I had in a Pho restaurant in San Diego North County. I usually take a Pho 'sate' (basically beef broth, noodles, and some chili in it) with veggie and Tofu as mentioned in my initial review. First not all Pho restaurants offer vegetarian Pho with beef broth, but the real plus here is the soup, fine, tasty, delicate, full of perfume and flavors. There is also plenty of fresh veggies and tofu in it. There are several Pho options in Escondido, San Marcos and Vista but Pho saigon express is by far the best I've tasted (and I tried pretty much every other places). Super friendly service. Plenty of room and tables, large private parking around the restaurant. Highly recommended. read more

I always mean to take a picture when we are here to add with the review, but finish everything before I remember. BEST pho, best service, best vegetarian options. My family comes here all the time, we've had it in restaurant and to go for an easy meal at home. Vegan option- you can ask for the veggie pho with a plain or vegetarian broth. I get the veggie pho with veggie broth every single time and every time it is amazing. We also get the veggie spring rolls. Priscilla is the host and is extremely thoughtful, she knows everyone who comes in, will remember past orders, and is very friendly. 10/10, we don't bother trying to find any other pho place around because this can't be beat. read more

I can't believe I haven't done a review for this place since I've been coming here for over 10 years. Their pho is always spot on and the best around by far. Not too fatty and always flavored perfectly. I love their egg rolls that come with the mint and lettuce for rolling. The lady who is up front (from what I've read is named Priscilla) answered the phone when I called and I got a great feeling about the place- she was very kind and welcoming. My husband and I ordered our food from the vegetarian menu and they were able to make easy accommodations (leave off the egg on the food, switch regular milk in the Boba for coconut milk). The server (also really welcoming and hard working) was knowledgeable about what we needed as vegans, so we felt comfortable knowing our food would not have any hidden surprises. We had the veggie and tofu pancit and the spicy vegetable and tofu drunken noodles. It was all fresh and delicious. We will come again in the future!
