We've been to this establishment too many times to count over the course of eight years. It continues to be our number one spot for pho. As soon as the chilly weather rolls around, pho cravings awaken. Even my picky eating toddler will slurp all of her pho noodles and broth. Besides the delicious food, the service here is always amazing. There's one server in particular we see all the time and he's always so kind! Sigh... Disappointment. Let me start by building your trust that we know what good phở is. My wife is Vietnamese and grew up in East LA, frequenting Westminster. We ate pho weekly for years in San Jose. We know good (and bad) pho. We can overlook the un-warm service, the lack of ingredients (very little thai basil and jalapeño), the tough beef slices, and the fact that their version of "large" is "regular" anywhere else. We'd let all of this slide IF they nailed the broth. Well, the broth, which defines great phở, was just bad. There is a spice in their broth that absolutely dominates and overtakes any other flavor--I'm pretty sure it's star anise. It's one-note and might as well be star anise and water, which is how it tasted. I like writing glowing reviews more than bad ones, but yelp is about the truth. Came here because I was happy there was a pho restaurant closer to my house then most so wanted to check it out. Took a while to get some service, we had our menus closed and waited for quite a bit and eventually someone came order. I kept my order simple, pho tai, my go to order for any pho restaurant. Cost $7.99 for a small which is more than most places but not by much. What really got me was how tiny the service sizes are. I left the shop hungrier than I came in. I got pretty small hands, about a inch bigger than an iPhone 7. And my hands still a bit bigger than the bowl. Was pretty disappointed. Restaurant seems pretty dirty also, there was hoisin sauce on the painting at the top. How did it even get there...?!?!?! But, I will say, the food did taste very good. Favorite Vietnamese place in Escondido. The only thing that bothers me is their fried chicken. Almost every time I always find a piece or two not fully cooked. Batter is good, flavor is good and quality of chicken is OK. A little friendly advice you can't fry different size pieces of chicken at the same frying time. For example in the picture the smallest chicken drum and bigger one was cooked at the same time leaving the small one fully cooked and leaving the big one not fully cooked. read more

First time I came here the service was good and more importantly, the food was great! My Fiancé and I got bun Bo hue and P12 (rare steak & fatty brisket pho). When I got my bun Bo hue, I was expecting blood cubes, but didn't get any so I requested and gave me a side of it. It was a great experience and thought of giving this place a 5 star.. On October 7, 2022, I came with my Fiancé again and with his brother. This time, we ordered Pho Gà (chicken pho), P12, and Beef Bahn Mi. Our server was a bit rude and impatient when we told him that we needed more time to look at the menu. He literally came back 1 minute later. So my 5 star from previous visit went down to 4.5. About 15 min later, we got the Pho. I was super disappointed and dissatisfied when I saw the Pho Ga (chicken pho): this was literally topped with just 5 pieces of chicken breast. I was expecting some chicken hearts, chicken gizzards, some chicken thigh pieces, chicken skin, or some pieces chicken breast. And the fact that we had 2 pho bowls, the plate they give with basil, bean sprouts, lemon, and jalapeño only had 1 stem of basil! Like what the hell is going on.. And when the beef sandwich (bahn mi) got to our table, i was surprised how small it was and barely had any pickled carrots, raddish, or whatever veggies that usually comes with it. I've been to many Vietnamese restaurants before and lived with Vietnamese family for at least 6 years, so I am not just familiar (a beginner) with their cuisine, but I am well acquainted with them. The standard of service provided here is exceptional, and the quality of the cuisine is truly remarkable.

This place looks small on the outside, though once inside depending on the time of day you'll be seated right away. The Hostess is great and also the owner. Her name is Priscilla, and she is friendly and always smiling. She makes it a point to come by each table to make sure everything is good or to take your order. All the other staff are friendly and if you ask they will help you pick out something if you are not sure. The prices are unbeatable and personally I would recommend Either the Chicken Soup or the coconut curry Chicken with sticky noodles. If you want a appitizer, the shrimp and pork spring rolls with peanut sauce is very good, or just go with the egg rolls. I would recommend this place to everyone. Come on and enjoy. read more

The inconsistency and spoiled food has caused me to write this one star review. On a good day their pho is one of the best with so much flavor. Their calamari is my favorite. Today is the second time I have ordered their spring rolls and it be spoiled. Today the pork inside smelled bad and tasted awful. The cucumbers for the broken rice and vermicelli dish were also bad. They tasted pungent. The first time I had food that was not fresh, I was disappointed but wanted it to work out so badly that I gave them another chance. Today was our breakup point. I called them to let them know that some items they were serving was bad quality and not servable. The worker apologized with no solutions. He informed me that the manager would call me back which never happened. If you choose to eat here, I recommend dining in so that you can return your food if it comes out with spoiled items. Ordered pho takeout. Quick & easy process. We ordered the Well Done Steak Pho, Chicken Pho, Chicken Fried Rice with Shrimp and Thai Tea Boba Smoothie. The pho came in to-go bowl containers perfect for eating the pho out of/store. The pho came with plenty of bean sprouts, basil, lime and jalapeños. Both the pho had great, strong flavor even without added Hoisin sauce. The beef was perfect, not fatty at all and great quality. The fried rice was tasty, needed a bit of spice, but that's solely preference. The Thai Tea Boba smoothie was tasty. You could taste the Thai tea flavor but it wasn't too sweet. Really disappointed in this place. Saw the good reviews and was hopeful that I found a tasty pho spot. We ordered delivery and I got the vegetable pho and my boyfriend got the Tom Kha pho. Both were completely flavorless. Both honestly tasted like absolutely nothing. I paid extra for the flat rice noodles and got about half the amount of noodles that would normally come with pho. My boyfriend's was the opposite- almost all vegetables and barely any soup. The spring rolls were a disappointment and flavorless as well and on top of that, the sauce for the was really weird tasting - definitely not like a normal sweet and sour or sweet chili sauce. Finally, they left out the order of rice too. Definitely not going back. read more

While their food is tasty, their Vegeterian Curry Soup ($12) and Beef Stew Soup ($13) prices are not commensurate with the very small portion sizes I received given what I usually see in North County this summer. Please see the attached pictures. The Vegetarian Curry Soup was 1/3 empty, and the Beef Stew Soup was almost 1/2 empty! I would be a little more undersranding if they were located in a high priced area like San Francisco or certain parts of SoCal, but they're in Escondido/North County! I would also be more understanding if their food was "artisanal," just bought from a local farmer's market, and the beef was local, organic, grass fed and pasture raised--but they're none of that according to their menu. Also, the Vegetarian Curry Soup is of course just veggies, so plus the tiny portion size I received and again it being $12, it is basically a rip off. Albeit a tasty rip off as it did really taste great. As an added note, the prices I mentioned above do not include the sales tax, Uber Eats Service Fee, Uber Eats Delivery Fee, and a 20% tip for the driver. I don't mind paying for all those fees for the convenience of an app-base delivery service, and being a bit more generous tipping the driver considering they're an essential worker, but if I am paying that on top of the food from the restaurant, I expect portion sizes that are reasonable for the price and quality. Moreover, this restaurant's prices for their small portion sizes are not commensurate with the exact dishes I have ordered from about 4 different Vietnamese restaurants in the area during the pandemic. At those restaurants, the portion sizes are a lot more for the same, similar or a slightly cheaper price compared to this restaurant. Everything about this experience was excellent, except for the portion sizes. Again, the food is delicious, in fact, their beef stew soup was made very well. But I just wanted to let yelpers know what they can expect ordering from this place so they won't be surprised like I was or have some hungry people after their meal. To be fair, this might have been a fluke experience, as it was my first and only time ordering from this place. So I might order again from them, and if so, will update this review accordingly. This place hands down has the best pho that Escondido has to offer. I normally get the bun bo hue and and they consistently deliver a quality soup. I'm usually don't like tendon because many places don't cook it for long enough and then it ends up too chewy- not this place! Even the tendon was the perfect amount of melty-soft texture. The owner is very attentive and personable, and always makes us feel like special guests, but I'm sure it's not just us - she makes everyone feel welcome and appreciated They have a huge selection of traditional Vietnamese and other Asian dishes. We've tried many of the dishes, but have a few that are our favorites and the food is always as good as it gets. We have never once been disappointed. I cannot comprehend how this place is 4.5 stars. It just doesn't make sense. The pho is not bad and only if I'm judging on that alone, this place is solid 3 stars. You won't go wow that was good but you'll leave whelmed. The reason for 2 stars is because I ordered the Thai Tea. I normally don't get boba with Thai tea when I eat because it would be too much. However, I made the mistake this time, the boba here had to have sat in the metal/plastic container for a week. It was mushy and was disintegrating in the drink.
