Pho Saigon is in a spacious, but quiet plaza with plenty of parking. My mom loves pho and we were just looking for a good pho restaurant after shopping nearby. They are located kind of hidden in a corner, and it looks a bit more modern than your typical pho spot. When we first walked in, there was no one dining in, which should had been our first warning. Not much service, and the employees did not look that friendly or welcoming. My mom and I ordered a large Dac Biet Bo Vien (special combo pho) to share and we tried to order their banh mi combo, but they were out of it, so we opted for an order of Goi Cuon (fresh spring rolls). We felt like we should had ordered our own pho, instead of sharing and getting the appetizer. The portion of the pho was very small compared to other locations, and it was hard to share because there was barely any meat in it with a lot of noodles instead to fill up the bowl to look more full (for about $16, that is definitely not worth it). The shrimp rolls were kind of small for the price and it did not taste that fresh - it had a fishy shrimp taste and made us feel a bit sick. read more

Huge portions - I ordered the Grilled Shrimp and Pork Vermicelli Bowl, which was very well portioned and the pork and shrimp were so yummy. Perfectly grilled! Lately my appetite has been getting smaller, I resisted the temptation for multiple dishes for lunch. I narrowed my order to my usual grilled chicken and egg roll with vermicelli. My order came in short period. It looked rather small in the smallish bowl but in reality it was plenty. The egg roll was pleasant. Mixed in the bowl with chopped vegetables of cucumber, carrot and peanuts among the vermicelli. The grilled chicken somewhat lack the typical flavor found at many other pho places. So I was disappointed. Despite of that, the meal was enjoyable with quiet dining area, respectful wait people, clean environment and enormous menu. Generous Bun bo hue serving with a rich and flavorful broth. I like it a little more acidic/tangy but it was still very good. My leftover soup congealed which signals they use bones and not an instant seasoning mix. The nem cuon was freshly rolled and had a perfect ratio of meat, veggies, and noodles. Went to this restaurant after waiting for several months as it was closed due to a kitchen fire. The restaurant is run by the same owners who operated a restaurant in Dublin with the same name. That was our favorite Vietnamese restaurant for many years until they closed a few years back. I am happy to say that the food at this new location is better than ever. I had the special pho which is basically the No. 1 large bowl with various meats as well as a big rib bone. My wife had the No. 3 which was our go to pho at the old location. I have to say that the pho broth was outstanding and better than I remember it. It was very rich and was definitely cooked for a long time as advertised. Highly recommend this hidden gem! Having moved here from Oakland, Pho Saigon is one of the best legit pho places in Pleasanton. We ordered the bun bo hue, beef stew with egg noodle and pork rolls. The broth for both dishes were so flavorful and tasty. The bun bo hue broth was on the spicy side and did not include the pig's blood or pig feet (we haven't found any places in the Tri-Valley that have). Also one of the better bun bo hue's in this area. The beef stew was also very delicious- the meat was tender although the carrots were a little undercooked for my taste. The pork rolls were also good - they had the fried bits in there; not many places in the area have this type of pork roll. It was served with fish sauce instead of the traditional crab sauce but still tasty! Service was fast - minutes after we ordered, we quickly received our food. The place was about 60% fill during Monday/holiday lunch. They also serve beer - one of the few pho places in the area that do. If you're looking for a legit pho spot, highly recommend! You can tell they know their food and it's a new favorite in Pleasanton (you know it's good when there are older Vietnamese-speaking folks there!). read more
