Most of their items are quite good. The wonton soup is the best I have had in town and the veggie fried rice is good and a generous portion. Their deliver driver is outstanding and usually are food arrives in less than a half an hour after ordering. I dropped one star because appetizers like the wontons seem a bit plain and uninspired, they don't offer shrimp and pork spring rolls (it is either/or and they wont just combine the two if you ask. I had pho delivered, yes I sure did. I do really enjoy eating pho but I really need pho when I have a cold. It is one of the only things I can stomach and I really do think it helps me feel better. So to find a place that delivers pho, because when I'm sick, I don't want to leave my bedroom let alone the house, and it comes to you fresh and hot with all the yummies to add really is a hard find. But Pho Saigon Star nailed it. The delivery was quick which was another plus for me. The man who delivered was also very sweet. As for the pho, it was wonderful. I have my own Siracha so I spiced it up. I chose the rare steak and brisket. The flavor of the broth was perfect. I also ordered the Vietnamese egg rolls. I almost enjoyed them more than the pho! I love that they were served with noodles, bean sprouts, and that wonderful chili lime sauce. I know for a fact I will be ordering this appetizer every time from now on, weather it's delivery or dine in. I was surprised at the full menu. I stopped by here on the way home sick from work because chicken pho is my favorite sick food. Just a warning...the parking lot for the shopping center is NOT supposed to be used if you're going here. I did it anyway and didn't get busted, but I was there for under ten minutes. The man who helped me was super nice and fluent in English. When stuck deciding between the grilled and shredded chicken, he recommended the grilled because it has more flavor. I went with it but should have gone for the shredded because, with how extremely salty the broth is, and with as yucky as I'm feeling, I could have used more blandness. The flavor of the broth was fine, but the saltiness was so overwhelming that it actually gave my mouth a weird physical sensation, and now I'm thirsty as hell. The portion size was decent for the price, the packing job was good, and the order came out really fast The delivery aspect holds no draw for me because I'm outside of their zone. When I asked for no cilantro, I was told I'd get no green onions either, which kind of ticked me off, but when I got home, I found that they had cut some green onions with no cilantro just for me, so yay. Overall, the location is just too inconvenient and the broth too salty for me to seek this place out, but I'll gladly head back in a pinch. EDIT: I'm knocking this down a star because I actually started feeling worse after eating this. Felt like an MSG headache. read more

Came here this past weekend with my boyfriend craving pho but decided on chicken pad Thai instead. From the outside this place totally looks like a hole in the wall that you would hardly notice if you weren't looking for it. There is no parking directly in front, but you can park in the Darque Tan lot. They also have a little covered patio out front that looks out on to University. Prices were good, both my boyfriend and I got "specials" for $8.95 which included a healthy portioned entree, fried rice (not my pad Thai), cheese wonton, eggroll and a drink. The food was really good and came out quickly, nice and steaming hot. I don't really live around here but if I was in the area and craving Asian food, I definitely would head back. read more

The broth, usually my favorite part, was very oddly flavored-kind of heavy and overly salty. Decent food, stressful atmosphere. Also, not much parking in the area, but OK if you are on foot and want Asian food. Portions and offerings are catered to the college crowd, priced at bit high for folks who don't quite know the value of their money, but everything is mostly tasty and hot. Very stressful place, though, and in retrospect I'd like it more "to-go" rather than dine in. On our last visit, the woman running the cash register kept shrieking at the customers in front of us who had forgotten to sign their credit card receipts. It was like there was some kind of huge, unmanageable emergency when there clearly was not. The place is oddly laid out, and it makes seating and walking around in the place very awkward, dancing around customers and staff. It's fine in a pinch, though. read more

Great spiced Central Pho broth, maybe a bit pricey for what you get. Serving size was a bit small for price, but definitely didn't leave hungry. It was ~$10 for a small medium bowl (only comes in one size), and was a little skimpy on the meat. The flavor was on point though. This is not our first or last warm dinner provided by Pho Saigon Star. My partner is a senior at DU and I just happen to be a bit obsessed with pho. The customer service is quick and to the point. When you order dinner over the phone they may put you on hold, but there food is always ready & packaged when it comes time to pick up (it's never been late and I appreciate that). The prices are decent for the portions. best part: pho to go is hot as magma when I get home, so my cardamum cinnamon peppery central pho broth is still hot enough cook raw steak, though ... I wish they had tendon in their pho ingredients or I'd order some meaty soups; I've been going with the central pho, extra tofu for the past few pick ups and it's becoming a staple for me (extra tofu so it stretches to two huge bowls). Partner doesn't crave pho as badly as I, but his chicken fried rice from tonight is something we will get again. Never tried their delivery. pick up is perfect for us and we will continue to enjoy these delicious dinners from just down the block. read more

Hands town the best pho spot in the area! I love that I have the option of getting the spicy broth! Big portions that I usually have to get to go and finish at home! Try a hot steaming pho tai after a few strong beers at Asbury. It is one of the handful of amazing experiences you'll have here at DU. On the negative side, the Pho soup seems to have some MSG... Not terribly abundant, but I can taste it afterwards. I hope someone at the restaurant reads this and will hopefully use less MSG. read more

our food was alright, other than me having explosive diarrhea all day. But the real disappointment was the customer service. i ordered beef pho, and my boyfriend ordered some chicken dish (i wasnt really listening to what he ordered). so we pay and sit down. the lady brings out my pho, and about 5 minutes later brings my boyfriend a chicken dish. so we start eating and talking whatever, and she comes back with a different chicken dish and starts yelling at us that she was going to charge us because we were eating someone elses food. like how were we supposed to know she brought the wrong food to our table? and how is that our fault? we tried to explain that we didnt realize the dish wasnt the dish that he had ordered (because they looked pretty similar and her english was really broken) and she cut us off / wouldnt let us explain. so she walked away after yelling once more "if this happens again, you have to pay!!". I work at a restaurant... i'm a server.. if someone ordered, say ham and bean soup, but i brought them black bean soup... and they ate it... i definitely wouldnt yell at them or try to charge them for MY mistake. if anything, i would apologize and try to fix the situation. So I are about 2/3 of my pho, when I noticed a little black bug floating near the bottom. I brought the bowl to the counter to politely let them know that they might want to check the batch that came from cuz there are bugs in it, and the lady up there (might have been a manager?) tried to tell me it was a piece of pepper. When I pointed out that it had 6 legs and antennae- characteristics I don't believe come with any pepper I've ever seen- she got all defensive & huffy & yelled at me that there's nothing she could do about it and that I shouldn't even ask for a refund since I already ate most of the bowl... As if I would have eaten another night after seeing the bug. Idk it just felt like she was yelling at me for her mistake. Don't go there if you are an Asian and want to eat authentic because the server will randomly assume you don't know how to eat pho and doesn't give you the vegetables ( basil and bean sprouts). They do this because the Chinese students here don't like basil and bean sprouts and they would think everyone is the same. This is hands down one of the best places I have eaten at! I usually get the Panang Curry. Don't judge this book by its cover because it doesn't look great from the outside but when you walk it its clean and nice! The food is amazing and the staff there is equally incredible. I introduced myself to Kim once and she calls me by name every time I walked in. (Even before I became a regular there). I also love it because it is so close to my house and work! Food here is really good, but the customer service was awful. I called a total of 3 times to place a pick up order and got hung up on the first 2 times. Finally, someone was able to take my order and told me it'd be ready in 10 minutes. I got to the store about 20 minutes after placing the order, and when I got there they hadn't even started making it (pretty sure they forgot about my order entirely). So they said 5 more minutes and working just across the street, I went back to work and came back 5 minutes later. When I arrived again the worker told me that since I didn't pay they didn't make it. Thankfully, she agreed to bring me my food when it was ready this time so that I didnt have to leave work and come back for a third time. Overall, not a good experience. read more
