I decided to try this place out after hearing about the possible tearing down of the Asia Center. Tony Pho has been a place I've heard about from others about being a good restaurant so I'm thankful to have finally tried it out. When I walked in I was immediately hit with the delicious aroma of pho and there were a lot of people there. Good signs. Tony and I'm guessing his wife were super professional and nice even with how packed it was in there. They seemed like true pros. The food was great! The pho was delicious and clean tasting. They also didn't skimp out on the veggies which I appreciated. A lot of pho restaurants skimp out on them. All the sauces you typically want at a pho restaurant were also at each table. I was also surprised to see that the prices are lower than most other places. I really hope they don't tear down Asia Center as I think I've found my new pho place! read more

Boom. The first experience you get is the same feeling as a cozy house where you are welcomed in like family. I had this place for the first time and it was incredible. I was so happy the minute I set foot in there all the way to the end. I got rare steak, brisket, and tripe and boy was it packed with meat. I feel like I got my daily dose of protein in that one sitting and it was incredible. Also the broth is golden like a treasure in the hidden valley of Vietnam. Everything was perfect. This restaurant is a hidden gem on Federal Boulevard. I have gone to many restaurants on the street and never noticed this restaurant. A friend of mine invited me to lunch and we both love Vietnamese food. The restaurant is clean. The servers are extremely nice and attentive. The food is delicious. She had the vegetarian Pho with the most amazing broth that I've had for a vegetarian Pho dish. She also had a side of spring rolls and peanut butter sauce. I had the pork vermicelli noodle bowl with extra fish sauce. I was happy that the server asked me how much fish sauce I wanted for my vermicelli bowl, which I told him as much as possible. Each dish was hearty, such a comfort. We both took our food to-go because there was so much left over. There's a decent amount of parking if you go for lunch. I'm sure the parking lot is full during dinner because there's so many other shops and restaurants. I will definitely be back to eat lunch with her again. The servers packed our food for us to-go. Pho obviously is the restaurant's specialty but classic Vietnamese rice plates (most $16.95) and rice noodle bowls (most $16.95) are also on the reasonably priced menu. Stay with the pho - my friend wished she had ordered pho instead of a grilled pork dish that she found dry and bland. Everyone enjoyed their well-prepared bowls of pho. The medium size pho ($15.95) is large enough to share. There was a split of opinion at our table on the broth - some felt it was salty but others thought it was well seasoned. Stop right here. I have had A LOT of pho from many different restaurants (don't judge me). Tony's takes the cake. Absolutely the BEST PHO I have had in Denver. Located in a small shopping center, you might easily overlook it. But do not be deceived. The broth options are veggie, regular, or half-and-half. I recommend the veggie broth. It has a fresher and more complex flavor than the regular broth, which seems to be more beef-based and, while also delicious, lacks the complexity of flavors offered by the veggie. At first glance, the choices were the usual: rare steak, tripe, etc., and they come with the noodles, bean sprouts, Thai basil, jalapeños, white onion, and limes. However, Tony's also has a filet mignon option. And for an extra $5.00, you can add Kobe beef. I had the filet mignon pho with added Kobe in the veggie broth. The meat literally melted in my mouth. My husband had rare steak and brisket in the half-and-half, and my oldest had rare steak and tripe in the regular broth. Both were phenomenal. The tripe was slightly chewy, as tripe can be, but not overly so. It was not the calamari-looking slices you usually see, either. This tripe was softly spiny and roughly cut. It was delicate, appetizing, and delicious. We also ordered cheese wontons, spring rolls, and Korean bbq short ribs. Also, all very delicious, but the short ribs had not been trimmed and had too much (thick) fat for my tastes. The meat was flavored well, though, and easily fell off the bone. Our server was a bit stoic, but I don't think he spoke much English. He was timely and attentive, though, despite the small restaurant having several other patrons. Tony, the owner, even came out to say hi and check on our meal. He was full of life and very welcoming. He also thanked us on the way out. Great experience all around. read more

My friends decided to get take out for lunch and as all I had was rice and canned sardines, I wanted in. He took our orders and went to the restaurant to order so it was fresh. When he came back I was impressed with how well packed everything was. Soup in a container by itself and the ingredients and toppings in ziploc bags. Everything sealed tight to prevent spillage or cross contamination. There was mint and bean sprouts in group servings which lessened the number of plastic bags. You have to look at how much soup is in the container as they give a generous serving and it could overflow when you place your ingredients in it. Just a word of warning if you've never had pho before. When you order, the ingredients are raw and you place them in the soup to cook. My friend was shocked when he saw the raw meat. It's so that the meat, which is sliced thin, doesn't overcook on its way home with you. I chose the shrimp soup with spicy broth. They include hoisin sauce for you to add more flavor to your meal. But I slurped my spicy broth as is because I like un-doctored broth. It wasn't very spicy so for those who don't like overly spicy the spicy broth is perfect for you. It was tasty and warm on a cold day. We will dine in next as my friend made a mess of his dish. He overflowed the container and ended up putting the soup into the flat takeout container which don't contain it well. What a funny sight though ! read more

Yum. Delicious. Totally hit the spot. The hubs and I came in post massage today for bowls of pho and an order of spring rolls to lead the way. I roped my husband into the tofu and veggie spring rolls. They were thick and perfectly rolled, soft and packed full of flavor. The peanut dipping sauce was one of the best we've had and I scraped out just about every bit of the sauce. Next came the steaming bowls of pho. I went with the tofu and veggie with no onions and the hubs opted for chicken pho. Both of our broths were light yet packed with flavor. The veggie broth had just a hint of spice. A little squeeze of lime along with hoisin sauce and mine hit the mark perfectly. I also want to note that however they prepared their tofu was spot on as well and one of the best tofus I've had in pho. Service was super efficient and very friendly. The rare steak pho was amazing, with a awesome flavorful broth, tender meat and lots of toppings especially if you ask for extra onions. The broth sounds like it can be hit or miss but I was there on a day where it tasted awesome. The pho is perfect for if you're not feeling well, or just want a giant bowl of soup. Service is what you'd expect for a pho place, but food comes out really fast once you order. I've also ordered through GrubHub and they do have a slightly higher delivery fee if you don't live in the immediate area but they are pretty quick, arriving within the first half of the estimate delivery window. First place in Colorado for pho that I have enjoyed. The veggie broth is delicious and the sizes of the bowls are insane. Definitely get a good amount of food even with the small bowl of pho. There's more regulars at Tony Pho than any I've seen on Federal. He's generous with his portions (the com tam special is a mouthful), friendly with his guests and makes a mean veggie broth. In particular, my girl likes to customize her veggie pho by adding brisket along with the veggie broth. This is an old school pho place. I know because you can ask for white onion pickled in vinegar and spices. It's a staple of authentic pho restaurants. They also serve a side of beef fatty broth if you ask. It adds a depth of flavor to your soup when without is incomparable. Both free of charge. Best part - when you asking Tony (or any of the jolly waiters) for your remaining pho togo... he tends to fill soup to the tippy top of the togo container. We went here on a Saturday for Lunch. Thankfully we managed to get seats coz while we are there many more patrons kept coming in, either have their food to go or dining in. We sat at one of the booths on the Left wing of Tony Pho. The service is prompt and efficient. Once we are seated, our server gives us water and the Menu. From what I could recall my friend ordered the No. 1B : Combination Bowl ($12.95) which comprises of a bowl of Vermicelli Rice Noodle Bowl with Grilled Beef, Pork, Chicken, Shrimp and Egg roll, served with vegetables and fish sauce. Finally I managed find the elusive "Hainanese" Chicken Rice... similar, sort of ...As for me I opt for No. 8C : Steamed Chicken served with Ginger Sauce ($11.95) aka Com Ga Hai Nam. After about 10 minutes, we received our food order. All in all our Lunch was ok. They forgot to give me the Ginger sauce from the Steamed Chicken as prescribed in their Menu. I don't want to hassle the server coz at that hour, this establishment is indeed slammed with other patrons. Personally the Steamed Chicken is doable. At least the server offer, the soup as a side for this dish. I did not expect that they would offer the soup as a side. The rice could be better, err for this case, if only they could cook it with the Chicken Fat, Chicken Broth, Ginger and Pandan leaves, to have a deeper flavor. From there this dish could be a home run! I don't mind returning to Tony Pho and definitely will order the Steamed Chicken again and hope NOT to forget the ginger sauce. Their dishes are all awesome, and one of the few places who make a great veggie broth! If you're looking for a delicious choice though, the marinated beef is my favorite choice. My dad is one of the most difficult people in the entire world when it comes to restaurants. The result is only going to the same 3 restaurants all the time. Today was different. Today he wanted to venture out. After driving around Federal, he finally decided on Tony Pho because based on observations alone, there's always a lot of people. It wasn't like that on a Tuesday afternoon an hour after opening, but I didn't have any expectations. When we walked in, we were greeted with a smile first in English then Vietnamese when my father responded in his native language. So far, service friendly. He ordered the medium size Pho and I got the pork chops rice plate. Highest praise was him telling me the pork chops tastes like how my grandma used to make them. So yes I will be be coming back. It's been a minute (ok, like months actually) since I've been able to dine in thanks to the public health crisis that is amidst us right now. I have only ever done take-out from Tony Pho and I don't know why I haven't reviewed it after half a dozen experiences. Shame on me!!! The pho is really bomb. Really intensely, beefy flavored broth that's somehow extra savory and needs NOTHING added to it. Put that hoisin sauce and sriracha down and just freaking taste the broth for what it is. If you have to douse your pho with tons of condiments, it ain't worth eating and you should really question your decision making around this specific topic. Think about it. The broth literally takes forever to make, simmered to perfection and clarified for all the beauty that should be broth. We should enjoy it for all that it is, in its purest form. That being said, the pho I think is the best item. I like their grilled plates ok, could use a little extra char or grill flavor in my opinion but it will kick the craving.
