This is our fourth or fifth time back, and somehow Pho Sam never misses. From the pho to the rice noodle bowls, everything we've tried has been absolutely amazing. What really makes this place special, though, is the staff. Every time we come in, they're incredibly friendly and welcoming and genuinely make us feel like we're part of the family. Great food, wonderful people, and the kind of place you're always happy to come back to. I truly cannot recommend Pho Sam enough!

Updates review for Pho Sam: As of my review, Pho Sam has changed ownership and has completely remodeled the restaurant to make it more trendy and welcoming. The menu now includes a bunch of fruity/sweet drinks too. We came here several times for lunch and are huge fans of their grilled meat dishes: The Vermicelli dishes are excellent - meaty, juicy chicken or thinly-sliced, savory grilled pork. Both were great. I like the ratio of veggies, noodles, to meat and appreciate the peanuts for added crunch. The pork chop rice is also pretty good, and comes with cooked veggies. A great dish for sharing. They do have a single, small but clean bathroom in the back, though you'll need to walk through the kitchen. 5 stars. San Ramon is really upping its meat-centric restaurant choices with Chingu, Pho Sam, and Char House all in the same plaza.

Still a great place for Vietnamese food! Clean. I like the menus. They're thick boards on the table, easy to read, and they're not sticky. Stopped by quickly to pick up 2 grilled pork banh mi and decided to try the banh xeo. Service is lovely as usual. I ordered to go and I love that the owner asked if I wanted some water while I waited. I love that they marked "not spicy" on one of the banh mi to differentiate which sandwich was which. Banh xeo was packed with holes on the corners of the container to remain crispy. It was so good and was still crispy when I got home. Thank you!!

I am obsessed with Pho Sam - the food is amazing, the service is quick, staff is so friendly and the restaurants ambiance is peaceful, calming, and welcoming 10/10 Ps. This dish is gluten free!! Celiac safe! There are lots of other options for celiacs too!

My daughter and I were craving for pho and decided to try the neighborhood pho. We both thought the pho was just OK, very watered down and didn't have any in depth flavor. Service was great and quick. Staff were friendly. We even experienced 2 earthquakes while dining there.

I have been regularly patronizing Pho Sam since the ownership change a few months ago. I am so impressed by its extensive and authentic menu. The owner also owns another location with a long history in Oakland. This is by far the best Vietnamese restaurant in the Tri-Valley area.

I had a DJ gig in San Ramon and it was till 4pm. Sitting in traffic going back home to the East Bay wasn't an option. Decided to eat and kill time. Super undecided what to eat so my son went on Yelp. Pho Sam offered 15% off till 5pm. Happy Hour special. We ended up getting to Pho Sam around 440p. My son ordered a large seafood combination #31. I ordered a small Pho bowl of wonton (pork and shrimp) and a chicken fried rice for us to share. The fried rice came out first within 10 minutes and was absolutely delicious. We can taste the char from the wok and the chicken was seasoned well. Rice wasn't sticky and had good texture with every bite. Fried rice is good enough for two people. We also order a side that complimented the pho broth called Nuoc beo. It's an added oil with green onions. My son's seafood had 3 large shrimp, meatballs, shredded chicken, ground pork, fish cake, and imitation crab. My son said the broth is very savory and flavorful! My Pho wonton was on point. I can tell the wontons were freshly made not store bought. I finished everything in my bowl including the broth. Super good and authentic Vietnamese food. The restaurant is a little small but the service is BIG! Our waiter is named Long and he provided good customer service. Only thing I wish the restaurant did was turn the AC on. The front door was left open so a breeze would blow here and there. Utensils and all the condiments that come with a Pho restaurant was all there. Over all this Pho restaurant is a 4.5 out of 5. I recommend this Pho restaurant if you're ever in San Ramon. Thanks

My wife and I absolutely love this place! We first visited about two weeks ago, and since then we've already come back at least four times. Not only has the food been consistently great, but the staff/owners, Thu and Long, have been incredibly welcoming, kind, and caring. Honestly, we keep coming back because of the warm hospitality and the quality and consistency of the food. I learned from Thu and Long that they've only been operating for about 3-4 months. With their wonderful customer service and really good food, I have full confidence they'll revive this establishment. Also, shoutout to Thu for recommending the Bánh xèo! It's crispy, golden, and filled with shrimp and bean sprouts, and served with lettuce, herbs, and an amazing dipping sauce. It's now our favorite thing to order every time we visit. I highly recommend giving it a try! This place deserves way more attention. Until then, my wife and I will keep enjoying our nice quiet dinners here.

Pho Sam has new ownership. The new ownership has remodeled the interior with some new settees, wall decorations and service counter. The menu has some new items such as BBH. Been twice once for take out once dining in. The pho is good but less meat toppings compared to before. There is a happy hour discount. Right now free soda or Thai tea with your pho.

This place is amazing! Fresh, delicious food. Large portions. The Pho with the most perfect spicy house made chili oil sauce is a must. Quaint space. Super friendly service! Go! You will be happy.

I have been eating here for a few months and it was good This time however with the new owners was an exceptional experience! They have been here for about two months. The broth has been kicked up several notches; the addition of Seared Garlic Rare Beef hit it home for me They have added several fresh juices that I have to try next time Service was good and the place is really clean I highly recommend this restaurant under the new owners!

It was early dinner time on a Friday evening and it wasn't overly crowded. All 6 of us got different items and overall it's a matter of preference for what kind of broth and protein you'd like that depicts the meal, the toppings are generally all the same. Consider this place to almost be a "make your own ramen" type of thing, in that you're given a platter of toppings to add to your bowl of steaming hot broth, mix it and let it sit, then voila! It's ready to eat. For a rainy winter evening, it was perfect to have some tasty noodle soup!

The service was really good, they are super on top of cleaning and serving so my food came out in about 15-20 minutes. I got the combo with an appetizer, drink, and noodle soup. The portions were pretty generous. -grapefruit tea: thought it was pretty yummy! I also tried out the super fruit tea and i really liked it but personally found it to be a little too sweet. Not too much to displease though! I mixed some water and it was perfect for me. -tomato beef brisket noodle soup: i was surprised by how tender the meat was and how much they actually give you. If you love tomato soups as much as i do then it's definitely a great option! -takoyaki & lamb skewers: my sister had one dish from her combo order and i has my own but was able to try both! The lamb skewers were a bit smaller than expected but were flavorful with a fragrant aroma. The takoyaki came in about 5 balls and while they didn't include all typical takoyaki toppings it was still pretty good considering it came as a combo! Overall, i really loved coming by this place, my main concern is that it's actually in a pretty busy plaza so parking can be a little difficult during peak business hours. Otherwise it's located in a really great area relatively close to some shopping areas such as the Livermore outlets or even other smaller shopping plazas. Give this place a try if you're in the area and looking for a good eat without breaking the wallet!

We came back to this place because we were craving Hainanese Chicken Rice and Laksa Noodle Soup…read more These were the three dishes we ordered: First was the K1 Special Laksa Fish Noodle Soup, $16.50, or 招牌叻沙魚綫面 (叻沙湯). I had tried this dish before and enjoyed it, but I didn't remember the broth being so light. I thought the dish would've benefited from a thicker and creamier broth. I think adding some coconut cream to increase the creaminess would've made it better, imho. That said, the real highlight of this dish was still the fish noodles. They were these long, tube shaped pieces of fish cake that acted like noodles, and they were delicious and felt high in protein. The bowl also came with a good amount of toppings. I especially loved their beef balls because they were so firm and almost crunchy when I bit into them. There was also shrimp, Napa Cabbage, and other toppings that made the bowl feel hearty. My mom got the K8 Slice Beef Laksa Fish Noodle Soup, $16.95, or 肥牛叻沙魚綫面 (叻沙湯). This was very similar to the K1, but the main difference was that it came with thinly sliced beef on top. The beef looked really good, and honestly, I kind of wished I had ordered this one because I like to try something new. It also came with the same delicious fish noodles, so this is probably what I'll try next time. The last dish was the K9 Signature Hainan Chicken Over Rice, $15.50, or 招牌海南鷄飯. My only gripe with this dish was the same as last time. The chicken was chopped right through the middle of the bone, so there were little bone shards mixed in with the meat, which I hate. I really didn't enjoy having to worry about biting into one while eating. Aside from that though, I thought the presentation was much better this time around. It also seemed like they gave us a little more chicken, and the meat was incredibly juicy and succulent. I especially loved how the skin was glistening with the oil. I also loved the whole presentation of the plate, which came with the Chicken and Rice, some kind of Cucumber Salad, Quail Eggs, and a small bowl of Broth on the side.
