Pho So 1 was one of the least impressive Vietnamese spots I've been to--especially for California. The broth in both the pho and the bún bò Huế tasted... off, and the noodles were soft, soggy, and overdone. The bún bò Huế in particular was disappointing, with more bone than actual meat. To their credit, it was a busy night (surprisingly it was still not too noisy) but there was still plenty of seating, and my party of three was seated quickly. Service, however, was inconsistent. There seemed to be too many wait staff, as our table was approached 3-4 times within the first few minutes to see if we were ready to order. After that, it was the complete opposite--it became difficult to get refills or even flag someone down for the check. We eventually got tired of waiting and I had to go up to the cashier just to pay. Overall, not a great experience. Between the underwhelming food and uneven service, this isn't a spot I'd go out of my way to return to.

Large menu of Vietnamese food at a spacious clean restaurant that's great for large parties. We tried a beef vermicelli salad and a hen with red rice. They were not bad, but not great. The noodles and rice were cooked well, but the meats were on the dry side. If we return, we'll need to try what they are known for, the soups. The service is very speedy. And plenty of free parking in the lot.

Went here on Friday night to try out this branch of Pho So1. My partner ordered rare steak which is no16 but when the soup got in the table it no15 with tripe here they only have one size huge bowl but it's not hot enough. I ordered the charbroiled beef & egg roll with rice & pickled veggies. The beef is on the dry side while the egg roll is so crunchy and dry not the usual texture. The evening is not that busy lots of available table we didn't wait. Music is not loud. The server took our order as soon as we're seated. The restaurant has a clean well lighted dining area and right number of staff to customer ratio.

I've been a Pho So 1 frequent customer for years, and while I've visited every location in the San Fernando Valley, this one is my favorite. The space is clean and bright, and the service is fast. The food is consistent between the different locations. This my go to spot for Vietnamese food in the valley.

I love this place just as much as their Devonshire location! This place is cute and updated. I love the service! It's some of the same people from their Devonshire location so I was received with the same warm welcomes as I always have. I am a repeat customer to the Devonshire location because of quality and affordability. I will be a repeat customer for the same quality and service here. My #6 was a delicious and hefty with protein as always. Spring rolls with pork and shrimp are a must try.

I give this place 2.5/ 5. The attendant took our order without writing our order down. She just took it by listening without repeating verbally what I ordered and I even showed the photo of what we wanted. Next thing you know, they messed up our order . We ordered pork chop with rice and EGGS as stated in the menu. It came out with NO eggs. I had to ask where are the eggs? The other server said oh you ordered pork chops with rice and eggs? I was like, I ordered and showed the photo from the menu. So they cooked and gave me an oily egg not eggs but just 1 egg. WTF. 1.5/ 5. I ordered fried chicken with rice also and it came out as a half a chicken with rice. The menu didn't say half a chicken. WTF. 2/ 5. Egg roll and the dipping sauce was a little bland and we end up just tasting it and didn't finished it. What a waste. 2/ 5. Inside was bright and they have large windows all over and it was clean inside. Parking was not an issue as they were inside a large shopping center. This place was not for me. Hospitality was an average. I don't think I will be back here after that experience and mis direction of the menu. I'm better off going to Pho Saigon in chatsworth and have a better experience.

(+) Reliably fast, almost suspiciously quick but you know it's an efficient kitchen (+) Clean, bright, one big open room (+) Big bowl of pho and the usual topping accessories, perfect for a cold winter evening or rainy day (+) Boba drinks, smoothies, slushies, usual colors & fruity flavors (+) Pay at the front, tell them your table #, that's authentic Viet style right there

The new Pho spot in Granada Hills is ! Super clean, fast service, and no-nonsense authentic Vietnamese food. We stopped by before heading to the Dodgers game, and it did not disappoint. The Pho #1 combo with the egg roll was absolutely delicious! Highly recommend checking this place out.

Been to Pho So 1 plenty of times before finally sitting down to write a real review. I've tried both the pho and the Bún bò Huế here, plus their egg rolls. The egg rolls are next level--super crispy, not greasy, and perfect for wrapping with the herbs and lettuce. I've had egg rolls from other Pho So 1 locations, but the ones at this spot actually felt lighter and less oily, which I loved. The pho has been consistently aromatic and comforting on the days I visited. The Bún bò Huế, though, wasn't as flavorful as I'm used to, and the noodles were cut surprisingly short, which made them hard to pick up. The pork leg/shank was also on the tougher side. I'm used to getting a different veggie plate with BBH, so having to use the standard pho herbs was a bit disappointing. The interior is modern with tons of big TVs--great if you want to catch a game while you eat. Service is quick for the most part, but I'd skip the bánh mì. Mine took over 30 minutes to come out (even after checking in at the 15-minute mark). It wasn't anything special flavor-wise, and they forgot the mayo, so it was pretty dry. Overall, for what it is, I'm happy to have another solid pho spot in the Valley. I'll definitely keep coming back for the pho and egg rolls.

It was the perfect evening for some Pho. Apparently everyone else thought so too! We first went to the location near us, a smaller restaurant and a crazy wait. We ended up at the Chatsworth location which is quite large inside, with a waiting area, lots of tables and an about 8-10 counter seats. It went pretty fast, once we put our name down. I ordered the Pho with rare steak, brisket and well done flank. Hubby got the beef stew Pho and my son got the vegetarian Pho. All of our orders were quickly served, large portions, perfect temp and really delicious. What makes Pho So1 most appealing to me is that they use rice noodles, which are great for my gluten sensitivity. They have a large menu and everything that I saw looked really good. Definitely recommend trying Pho So 1.

This is the 3rd Pho So 1 I've been to and the new location in Granada Hills is the same as all the others in the best way possible. Service is fast, the food is fresh, and you leave here with your belly full while somehow feeling refreshed. Interactions with some of the staff can be "off" at times, but it's due to a language barrier, so I would never hold this against the restaurant. The interior is the nicest and most modern of all the locations I've been to, so this will be my go to for the up coming chilly months!

Stopped into their new location in Granda Hills the other night for some late night pho. They service was amazing! We ordered and got out good within 5 mins. It was a pretty large serving as well. The ambiance is very casual but they have such pretty interior. Lots of seating and it's also very clean. We got the Tai Chin which is rare steak and well done brisket. It was delicious, super rich in flavor and the meat was great quality. I've had it be locations, but this one is definitely my new go to!

Really good! We frequent another pho place in porter ranch but they are always a big hit or miss and so we've started ordering from this pho so 1 location and it's been great so far. The first time we dined in they were really kind and welcoming. This time we ordered for take out. I got the #20 beef stew which had a different more opaque type of broth with stewed carrots and beef. Also had the Bahn mi pork sandwich which was good. I also appreciated the gentleman not laughing over the phone as I butchered the Vietnamese pronunciation of all the food haha.

The fried rice was also a standout and paired perfectly with the meal. Service was great from start to finish. The staff was attentive, friendly, and kept everything moving despite how busy it was. Overall, it was a fantastic experience. I'll definitely be back to try more of the menu. If you're in LA and in the mood for ramen, this is a spot you should absolutely check out.

I remember going here during their grand opening ages ago, did their, back then, super cheap deal with unlimited noodle refill (even further discounted due to the special event day) and eating to the point of barely being able to sit up in the car without throwing up. I have a picture of my brother eating here in middle school with us and then later on in his early 20's. Crazy time lapse, and truly shows what a favorite this place is and it's place in the community. As with all businesses in Little Tokyo, parking can suck (not as bad as K-town, but you're either paying or super circling around). Service is super efficient, welcoming and polite, as with their other locations as well. It's not the biggest restaurant, but none of the Shinsengumis I've been to have been particularly large. With this location, from my first visit, and all the subsequent visits, I always get their Hakata ramen, firmer noodles, since the longer I eat and enjoy the food, they'll soften a bit, less soup oil and less saltiness. I get all of the toppings that it comes with and I always add in a poached egg. Love the strong pork flavor since they stew their broth for so long and the tenderness of the chashu (sometimes I order more). Prices have definitely gone up and a slightly altered upgraded version of this ramen is almost $30 if you're not careful enough. Times have changed but how good this place hasn't. There's more ramen options now than there were like 10 years ago, but Shinsengumi is always a classic.

Also got a yuzu beer to try and it was delicious, nice yuzu flavor with some tanginess. I had the shoyu with duck while my husband had the yama tonkotsu that came with fragrant black garlic oil. The tonkotsu is not one of those rich, milky, creamy ones and I personally like these lighter ones more. I also enjoyed the shoyu which had a pleasant depth of flavor, but it felt like it was relying too heavily on MSG for umami. Noodles came out chewy. Definitely not the best ramens I've had but are some of the better ones in LA. Our server was friendly, as were the rest of the staff. Service was quick. There was not anyone at the restaurant at the time, but people did start trickling in as more time elapsed. We got our food relatively quickly as well. FOOD: I ordered the spicy pork tsukemen ($23.45), which is their dipping noodle. The noodles are thicker than standard ramen, but in a good way! It comes with thick chashu (thick, fatty pork) slices and soft boiled eggs. If you haven't had tsukemen before, you essentially dip your noodles into the broth and then eat it that way. The broth is extremely flavorful and there are also pieces of chashu in it as well. The only critique that I have regarding this is the broth was lukewarm which made the dish taste slightly off. I've tried this dish at another branch and the broth was also lukewarm there, so I'm not sure if this is a location issue or a standard amongst all branches. Also, this dish does not really have any vegetables in this, but I also don't know if traditional tsukemen has veggies included. SERVICE: Service was quick and everyone was nice and doing their job. Didn't seem like the staff was slacking or messing around while there weren't many customers. They were very attentive to us, refilling our water immediately once they saw it was getting low, and being very attentive towards if we had any other concerns or if we needed anything else. PARKING: There technically is street parking but since it's in Little Tokyo, it's going to be very difficult to find it. There's $4-6 valet parking available nearby the location. There are a lot of people walking around though so just be safe. INTERIOR: It's not too big of a place but it's also not too small as well. It looks very well kept and clean. BATHROOM: Two gender neutral bathroom stalls that are both very clean and accessible. No issues here with them. TLDR: Overall, I thought the place was pretty good to eat at! I would definitely come back for the tsukemen (as long as the broth is warmed up until it's hot). A very good dish combined with great music (they have some great Japanese music variety) is definitely a spot worth coming to with friends !! :))
