March 27, 2020 I never forget when my son and his fiance brought home my firs ever PHO Soup from Second Street Restaurant right here in EL Cajon, California. It was the best soup ever, because I was sick. That soup ever night for a week made me well. I don't know what was in that PHO Soup, but it was delicious, awesome, incredible, terrific, that next week I bought 4 great big containers for my family with everything that was on the side. My Mommy loved that soup. There was not a lot of foreign soups she didn't like, or love. My Mommy loved that soup. I'm including all the other products you have on your menu. Ordered 3 pho superbowls, shrimp,chicken and plain. Arrived with zero veggies, I mean zero...just noodles and meat. I called them and he didn't care one bit, just said we ran out of that stuff earlier today, no sorry or anything. If I put 3 stars I would be lying, first and foremost I was not greeted I waited approximately 40 mins for my spring rolls and a regular size bowl of pho. This has been my second time coming to this establishment and I am definitely not coming again. When I first arrived it was only myself and another table and the place got filled up pretty quickly but as time went by I kept seeing everyone get served except for me I waited about 10 mins after I saw one table get there food before I did and they arrived 15 mins after me. I even gave the server the Benefit of the doubt and I thought to myself he made a mistake so I waited again to see if it happened again and sure enough there he goes serving another plate to another person that arrived after me. So at the moment I got the attention for a younger guy with glasses and I brought up to his attention and he apologized and went and got me my spring rolls, and guess what I waited another 15 mins for my pho plate while everyone else was eating. When my plate arrived I asked the waiter if I could get more lemons and he walks away as if he did not hear me and I said "Sir" he turned around and said ok with an attitude. I was so surprised on how unhappy and annoyed this guy looked. Quiet frankly i did not even want to eat my food anymore, to too it off I asked for the #12 that has all the meats and I literally got 3 pieces of meat and one piece of tripe. Moral of the story if you have time and patience come to this place because don't be surprised that you will wait 1 hr for 1 bowl of pho and an order of spring rolls. read more

I'm not sure if the management changed or what, but I've noticed a difference in food and customer service. I'm pretty lenient when it comes to changes. The food is still good, but I feel like I get less for the same price. I order take out once in awhile and sometimes the order is wrong. Hey, we are all human and I get that we can mistakes. But I ordered 1 large pho and 2 Banh Mi sandwiches and when I got to the restaurant, they claimed that I ordered 2 chicken pho bowls and 2 salads. The manager came out and retook the order. He ended up giving me a regular sized chicken pho instead of a large. ‍ It's forgivable because I love this spot and it's the closest Vietnamese restaurant near my place. Came here in exploring Vietnamese options in the area. I ordered the #6 special and when asked what to drink, I asked for tea. In a regular pho restaurant, a pot of tea is complimentary- I'll get to this later. The pho was okay, not as good as a bowl from City Heights, Linda Vista, or College area but still decent. I had to ask for some flavorings on the side to give the broth that much more (scallion oil/fat). When paying, I asked if my total included the tea because it was high. The owner confirmed and I was shocked they charged for tea. I had told them on yelp, it offered a free tea with entree. He stated that it was only a cup and not a full pot. When asking for the tea originally, I was never asked if I wanted a cup or a full pot so I was confused. In the end the gentlemen took off the almost $5 pot of tea (ridiculous). read more

Returned and has amazing service. Quickly recieved our drinks,appetizers and main plates. I had pho with a passion fruit boba smoothie and black tea. He had a kiwi boba smoothi and a chicken and shrimp vermicilli salad. So good. His kiwi drink was the bomb my favorite. Tried this place again because P2 closed, unfortunately. Not sure how, but things have gotten worse. They stripped all the walls of any decor and the place feels like a clinic waiting room. Was asked "can you move?" after I had already ordered because I was sitting at a "big table" (two tables pushed together) that was for "big groups"; mind you, it was a Sunday afternoon and there were three other people inside the restaurant. I am not one to write bad reviews about restaurants unless I am totally grossed out. That was the case here. I had been here several times before, and the food was good, so I kept returning. The most recent time I went, me and a friend ordered our usual; spring rolls and pho. We noticed a man that worked there sitting in the dining room flossing his teeth at a table, talking with another worker. That kinda creeped me out that he was doing it at at table, but whatever. After we ordered, he gets up from the table, goes to the kitchen (which you can see into) and starts making our spring rolls. He did not wash his hands (i was watching the whole time), then he brings them out to our table. Me and my friend just got up and left. I was beyond grossed out, as was my friend. There are a few very basic sanitary rules for restaurants. Number one being that you wash your hands after basically anything. When i saw him two minutes earlier digging in his mouth, and then touching my food without washing or gloves, that just blew my mind. Bums me out, but I will never be back. read more

This place has a wide array of truly delicious pho, including a spicy lemongrass soup that just melted my face right off. The portions are generous, the seasonings on the chicken are divine, they have a particularly wide array of beverages and the service is fantastic. Our waiter not only remembered what beverages we ordered, he was on top of refills and had a great sense of humour. When we finally got our pho, it was pretty good, but it took a LONG TIME for us to get our food. Most pho places get it in front of you within 5 minutes after you order it. We ordered, and it took about 10 minutes just to get our Vietnamese iced coffees, and maybe another 20 minutes for our pho to arrive. I think we'll try some other options before we come back here. read more

My wife and I have been regular customers here for a while. The place has been a great find for us. It is clean and nice, has the ambience of a nice restaurant, but with excellent prices. The soups are very good and the "superbowl" version is huge. The staff, especialy the owners are always friendly and attentive. Since I am often doing the low carb thing I often order one of the meat and rice dishes and have them hold the rice and add more salad. they have boba and a good assortment of teas. read more

Sweet! Has not been discovered. Kinda like an old joint but that's what gives it a down to earth charm . My pho was great and the egg rolls were bomb! Had boba there too! My mom can't eat big plates and she was able to order the kids bowl. My sister who is such a critic (she thinks she's European) . She gave that look like ugh we're coming here?? Then she had the pho and egg rolls and was pleasantly surprised. The gentlemen attending to everything was very nice and down to earth. My sister enjoyed his good nature, very nice man. I love pho and this is the closest restaurant to my home. For a couple months, i was ordering to go (because they never have the AC on!) several times a week. Don't bother asking for special orders because the manager will not budge and could care less about your business. ZERO customer service skills from this horribly unpleasant man! The younger male and female who work there are lovely, but they can't make changes or they get in trouble. After spending a LOT of money there, with no customer appreciation, I took my business elsewhere. P2 Pho is the place to go! The broth is amazing! And so is the service! Been here MANY times. Never had a problem, very good. I'm used to Mira Mesa or East Diego PHO, so my standards are high. Always good stuff. The negative reviewers should have just complained to the staff instead of hiding behind a yelp review. Have been here at lease 2 dozen times, First half were awesome, next 6 were progressively worse and last 6, especially last night, were horrible. My family and I have been here plenty of times and we like their soup and fresh shrimp spring rolls anyways I called to place an order to go and no one was answering, it was exactly 7:58pm Sunday. I googled to make sure they were still Open and online it says they close at 9. I called again someone picked up the phone but didn't say anything and hung up on me. Since we live close by I had my husband go in instead. It was 8:20pm. He showed up and the guy said they were open but the kitchen was closed so my husband couldn't go in anymore. WTH!!! Came here on a Friday afternoon. It wasn't busy at all. Ordered spring rolls and a Thai ice tea with boba. Both was delicious! I ordered Pho with rare steak and the beef chowmein to go for me and the husband for dinner later. Reheated the pho in a pot over the stove. It still had great flavor. The chowmein was good too though I always prefer the thinner noodles but I still enjoyed it. Over all really great meal. The restaurant is simple, not very decorated but that doesn't always matter to me. It was cleanly, my service was prompt and friendly, and most importantly the food was delicious. My Entertainment book coupons expire at the end of October, so I am trying to use as many as I can. Found a BOGO free offer for this place and since I have been craving pho, I thought I'd give it a shot. My better half requested a California burrito and when I told him I would not be making 2 stops, he changed his request to the California burrito of Asian food. When pressed, he elaborated and gave orange chicken as an option. So, that's what I got for him...orange chicken. And pho with rare and well done brisket for yours truly. So, his orange chicken was actually pretty good. My pho...not so much. The broth just wasn't very flavorful even after adding all the accompaniments. I forgot to request a to-go thing of srichacha and that def would have helped, but I feel like the soup should stand alone. There used to be a pretty kick-butt pho place in El Cajon called Panda Rice. Then the establishment went under new ownership and the service dropped quite a bit, but the food still tasted good. We made due with the wait so we could put yummy pho into our bellies. Lo and behold, one day Panda Rice became a taco shop. Like, overnight. What? So, we searched high and low for a new pho place in the area to frequent. Thankfully, around the same time Panda Rice called it quits Pho Super Bowl opened not too far away. That's the good news. But there is also bad news: It's not so hot. Don't get me wrong--the food itself is decent, but the service... man, so slow. We sat in there on a lazy Sunday afternoon and the staff seemed more concerned with watching the Chargers game then coming over to see if we wanted to order anything. I think we sat there for 10 minutes before even getting water. It took FOREVER to get our food, too. And while the pho was good, I swear they were kind of skimpy on the noodles and beef. Not quite "super" by any stretch of the imagination. At least it all tasted good. If they can improve their service and cut down on the wait time, this place could be something great. I'm willing to give them time to improve, and when I really need pho and don't feel like driving far, Pho Super Bowl it is. However, as things are now, it makes me wish Panda Rice was still around--even if it was just the "new ownership" version. read more

I've been coming here regularly for months now and I have to say that I have not been let down! I have never had a bad bowl of pho here, my favorite is their #11 with extra onions. The soup is always good, the appetizers are good, and the environment is comfortable and relaxed. They'll never rush you while you're eating, and sometimes the service can be a bit slow, they're always nice. If you're looking for an upscale place, this isn't where to go, but it's perfect if you want to have a nice place to have lunch and chat with a friend. Some things to keep in mind before you come: the location isn't the best, same for parking, and the service can be slow sometimes so make sure whatever plans you have accommodate that. read more

I orders the charbroiled chicken and presentation was horrible. Looked the the cook never cut chicken before. They just hacked away until it was cut.
