    Chicken and rice plate
    Erin E.

I feel like you can never go wrong with a rice plate at any Vietnamese restaurant. I usually order the pho, but because it was a hotter day, I decided on some barbecue chicken. So flavorful! I like it without the sauce but it's served separate the dish so there's options! The portion is decently sized for it being $18. The only bad thing I have to say is that it is on the higher range for Vietnamese restaurants... especially if it's just chicken and rice plate:')

Oolong Tea - kept warm throughout my dining experience

As someone who is Vietnamese, I highly recommend this restaurant for anyone looking for authentic, delicious Vietnamese food in a welcoming college-town setting. The chicken pho was outstanding, with a crystal-clear, flavorful broth that tasted like it had been simmering for hours. The vegetables were incredibly fresh, clean, and plentiful, and the crispy egg rolls were perfectly cooked and delicious. The bún thịt nướng was another standout--well-seasoned grilled pork served over fresh noodles and vegetables with wonderful balance of flavors. The experience was made even better by Brenda, whose exceptional customer service truly stood out. She is one of the hardest-working employees I've seen--always smiling, attentive, and making every guest feel welcome, even when the restaurant is busy. Her positive attitude and genuine kindness create a warm, inviting atmosphere that keeps customers coming back. I came back several times in the same week because Brenda made such great recommendations on which dishes to try. Thank you, Brenda. I also appreciated the hot tea served in beautiful ceramic teaware, which added a thoughtful and authentic touch to the meal. If you're in Davis and craving excellent Vietnamese cuisine with outstanding service, this is a restaurant you shouldn't miss. Highly recommended!

This was my second time here. Now I remember I didn't enjoy it the first time but I wanted to give them another try. I don't think $20 for soup is worth it at all. I ordered the seafood noodle soup with egg noodles. I got 2 small pieces of shrimp, 2 very small baby scallops, a few shredded pieces of imitation crab meat, 2 small fried fish cake and 2 tiny calamari. The following description sounded so good!! I was extremely disappointed. Staff were really nice. I came in on a Saturday evening. It wasn't busy at all. I don't think I'll be coming back here. SEAFOOD NOODLE SOUP Shrimp, scallop, calamari, fish ball, fried fish cake, and imitation crabmeat.

Craving pho while visiting Davis and came across this awesome place! They were busy but we were seated right away. Unfortunately it seemed that there was only one waitress but boy was she hustling. She took our order quickly. We order the crab Rangoon and 2 large bowls of Pho. Our food came out pretty fast. Everything was hot and delicious. The restaurant was fair with lots of seating and decorated w 4 huge palm trees with lights. Unfortunately the bench seats are a bit worn and could use some TLC. Other than that, everything was pretty good. We'll definitely be back!

Got table of 5 seated really fast on a Saturday night when they were pretty busy. We all ordered different phos but only got 1 small plate of rau cai / toppings to share so we had to ask for more. Then they didn't have sauce cups for hoisin/siracha? So we had to ask for them too. My soup was pretty salty but the meat and noodles were alright. Kind of underwhelming flavor and the XL is not very big (I think it may be the same amount of noodle, but they just pour a lot more soup).

I was craving some takeout pho and noticed Pho Tasty was just a couple of blocks from my hotel in downtown Davis. So I headed on over and grabbed a bowl of noodly goodness (plus some eggrolls). The place was surprisingly quiet inside for what felt like a busy Thursday around the rest of town, and the decor was...interesting. I headed up to the counter, where the service wasn't exactly friendly (but not necessarily unfriendly), ordered my food, and it was miraculously set before me just a few minutes later. Super fast service - yay! So I walked the three blocks back to my hotel, got into my jammies, and sat down to watch some TV and eat my dinner. Imagine my SHOCK that there was not a single utensil or napkin included! Not even some chopsticks. Faced with having to eat my pho using the coffee stir stick from my in-room Keurig machine, I put a jacket on over my PJs and headed down to the hotel bar, where the server blessed me with some utensils and napkins. I enjoyed the pho itself, and loved how much tendon was included (usually it seems like an ingredient that other pho places are stingy with). The eggrolls were delicious, too. Maybe they can't give utensils due to regulations? I'm not sure. But they should have at least said something or asked.

Tasty chicken broth with egg noodles, seafood, and thinly sliced bbq pork was delicious.

Special Pho / Pho Dac Biet (size Small, $16) + extra noodles ($3)
    Trinh G.

I typically don't go to Vietnamese restaurants because I have my grandma's delicious homemade meals, but I keep coming back to Pho Tasty at least once a month for their beef pho. Pho Dac Biet: - Flavor 100/10, amazing salty flavors as is without sauces. This dish is the reason I keep coming back - The portion sizes have definitely gotten smaller over the past year. An XL (now $18) used to be plenty for me & my gf to share, but now it's like an appetizer. However, if you get a Small with extra noodles, it's enough to share (although not as much soup) Bun Bo Hue: - Flavor 3/5. I love this dish in general and have had it many times in the US and Vietnam. The look and smell of the dish was accurate, but it didn't taste quite right. It tasted like the flavor was in the background and more of a smell - For $20, I was disappointed that it came with a tiny amount of noodles I wouldn't get the Bun Bo Hue again, but I highly recommend this place for their Beef Pho !!

    Meat over rice

This place was really good, the goua bao with duck was really tasty. And the pho soup wasn't sweet either it was tasty and savory! As for the meat over rice that was good as well I would order everything again and try their noodle soup next time. Service was nice and it was really quiet when we went. The only thing was the soda was flat and the flies lol

Nothing hits the spot more than pho on a chilly and overcast day. Pho Tasty is located in downtown Davis. The restaurant has a lovely chill vibe to it, and the inside is well-maintained. The ambience is great with low volume music playing in the background, giving it a classy feel. I went for the seafood pho and it was delicious! The broth wasn't too strong and the noodles were just right. This item in particular was much pricier than what I'm used to in other places, but the other menu items go for a more reasonable price. Service was great and I'm overall satisfied with my visit. I will be coming back when I'm in the area!

An old friend from elementary school and I decided to meet at Pho Tasty for lunch as neither of us had been there before. Reading the reviews on Yelp and looking at the pictures, it appeared to me that the only pho options had a beef broth. On looking at the menu I discovered that there were also pho dishes with chicken and vegetarian broth. It was a very warm day so both of us decided to try the Banh Mi. She had the BBQ pork and I had the chicken. Both were served with regular French fries, not the sweet potato fries mentioned on the menu. The sandwich was fine. The French fries got soggy very quickly. We arrived when they opened for the day at 11 a.m. Actually we arrived early and were relieved that the door was open so we could get out of the heat. The waiter came right over and seated us and brought us menus and water. There was a steady stream of customers. Some of the dishes that were delivered to nearby tables looked very good.

I came here for lunch the other day, it was cute inside very small but clean. The staff was friendly and attentive. I ordered the Pho Bo Filet - it was good, a little sweeter than I expected... and I wish the meat was cut into slightly smaller pieces. I think next time I go I'll try the veggies, my friend got that and it was packed full of veggies and looked amazing. I will try it again!

I went from a thin top to a medium weight sweater. We arrived in Davis I grabbed my jacket to pair with my sweater. Today was a day spent exploring Davis to see the California Conference for the Advancement of Ceramic Arts (CCACA). What a great Conference. We come each year for this Conference and explore Davis every time we are here. After exploring the first building of the show it was coming on time to eat. We looked around the current shopping center and my husband didn't see anything he was craving. He said we'll go more into town and look for a noodle place. He said he remembered one from our last visit, down one of the alleys. Walking up the street we saw a couple of advertisements. A sandwich board was on the sidewalk for Davis Noodle CIty, the exact place we were looking for. The little Noodle Shop in the alley. We weaved through the other businesses, past the dumpling restaurant, past the outdoor seating and to the front door of the Davis Noodle City Restaurant. The out door seating looked really welcoming, but it was chilly out so we opted for eating inside with the other table that was occupied. There were 3 parties eating outside when we arrived. When we walked inside we were greeted and told to take any table. We choose a table in the corner. The menus were under the glass table top, keeping it clean and easy to read. Each place setting had its own copy of the menu. After looking at the menu, remembering what was offered on the sandwich board in front, and cross referencing it with Yelp Reviews we started ordering. We opted for the Five Spice Beef Noodles, and I asked if that was a good option and she said it was their top seller. The Yelp Reviews were only ok for that dish, but I took our chances. The second dish we ordered was the Dan Dan Noodles She tried to upscale us to the one with vegetables, but that dish was a cold dish so we when for the standard Dan Dan Noodles. Both dishes came out quickly. The Dan Dan noodles were not spicy as I anticipated, which was good, I wasn't really looking for spicy. I liked the flavor and realized that if you mixed it up there is a sauce on the bottom that is really tasty. Dan Dan Noodles ($8.25 a steal) is a solid dish and I highly reccomend it. It's a great bowlful of noodles. If you are hopping for other ingredients you are out of luck, it's 100% noodles with a sprinkling of peanuts on top and a sauce on the bottom. The Five Spice Beef Noodle Soup ($12.75)was as described in the reviews. It comes with American Broccoli and carrots. The beef is so good it melts in your mouth. The broth is minimal and lacked flavor. I'd think that it's advertised as Five Spice that it would have more flavor. I don't reccomend it if you are looking for a strong flavor. If you are looking for great meat, that melts in your mouth, but is also a little fatty then you have the perfect dish. Both dishes came with fresh noodles, none of those dried and rehydrated noodles that some places serve. The noodles on both dishes were different and pleasant. I highly reccomend their fresh noodles. Customer service was good. She came to check up on us and was pleasant. Parking is street parking. And they have a bathroom on site that is clean and well stocked.

Every single item was just fresh number one and two the flavors were so like bursting in your mouth but they all complimented each other. We ordered a lot of food and each time I tried something it still tasted as good even when it started to cool down a little bit. I will say my favorite item though, because I do like a little bit more spice but I would like things to be flavorful as well, was The wonton with the chili oil and sauce. The feeling was just the perfect amount when you took a bite you got a little bit of the meat portion but the sauce because it was covering it so nicely with a little bit of the crunch it just was a great mix of textures and flavors and the chili oil itself wasn't spicy it was just flavorful it had spices. I will say the group of three eight pretty much everything except maybe one spare rib. We almost had to roll ourselves out of there but it was so worth it and I would highly recommend checking this place out but word of caution do not go if you are hungry because again this place is popular and you might have to wait so make sure you have a good amount of time and that you're allowing yourself to really enjoy the space and try out all the deliciousness.

The drink was standard, though a little sweet for my liking. Next time we'll adjust the sweetness to be a little bit lower. The aloe was strangely very mushy and not very enjoyable. The cold noodles with peanut sauce were a little disappointing. I found it to be overwhelmingly, salty, though the rest of it tasted fine. I enjoyed the beef noodle soup more, especially once you added the pickled mustard greens. The noodle texture was not my favorite, but soup was pretty good and the beef was well cooked. Overall, it really itched that scratch and I was satisfied. Both noodle dishes were hefty. Beef Fried Rice Noodles: How do you differentiate if this dish is good or not, it is about how much excessive oil that's left on the plate. The stir fried was good, not too greasy, and they marinate the meat well. Unlike other Chinese restaurants, this place's meat was good. Only they could stir fried with even higher eat to create more "wok air" Sticky Rice Stick with Brown Sugar: First time trying this dish, so not sure what to expect. But it does seem to be a dessert to me, my comment would be higher if the rice stick is more chewy. Hot & Sour Shredded Potato: This is common dish from northern part of China. The way they prepared was awesome. The potato was not starchy and the seasoning is just right. A bit greasy but this is actually my favorite dish! Shrimp and Pork with Chives Dumplings: Meat is fresh and dumpling wrap is great too. Each dumpling size is not too big and wasn't torn. Taste is okay but maybe try another filling if I visit again. Probably something lost in translation so relax with the sensitivity. Ambiance vibes were minimal because I think it's summer break. If it got much busier (which I'm fairly certain it will) there would be less space to move around, obviously, but I think folks would still pile in. Dumplings were tasty and one came with a dipping sauce. They appeared to have the array of umami sauces (salty-soy, sweet-chili, spicy-cock, bitter-vinegar) along with a shaker of paprika? Don't cry about the dishware. Paper bowls for everyone! I'm sure they had forks somewhere but we never saw them. "Tea won't be drunk, but the person will" HUH? Never tried those "Freshly Made Egg Waffle" things so figured, why not. Got some chocolate guys that look like oversized bubble wrap. Thought it'd be better. Thought maybe there'd be something INSIDE the bubble. Nope. Was just kinda meh. "Sorry we won't able to have discount, but you might able to get the whole store if you hit on the boss" gives off harassment vibes. Hopefully it's just lost in translation. Odd advice kept me reading for the final Yelp-ish words of wisdom: "One meal means eat for the whole day without stopping." But take pictures and write about it.

Our families favorite place to dine in Davis! The interior is cozy and charming and food... is…read moreAMAZING! 1. Honey D House noodle soup: a must each time we come. We usually ask to skip the spam, but everything else in the soup, at least one person in it family will eat. Quail egg, fried tofu, chicken thigh, green leeks, peanuts, sliced beef, thin tofu sheets (and I'm probably missing a few ingredients!) 2. Chicken Cutlet with meat sauce over rice: if we are getting at least two items, this is for sure one of them. Excellent flavor on the peppery batter on the juicy chicken and the meat sauce and pickled veggies are an excellent combination. 3. Zha Jiang Mien: First time trying it. Two of us liked it. May get, again, next time. We usually prefer the blacker Korean style sauce, but this was pretty good, too. 4. Beef roll: think thinly sliced beef with fresh veggies rolled up in an onion pancake. Everyone in the family likes this dish, but we don't always get it (us wanting to try new things). Sad to see you guys leave your Sacramento... come back, PLEASE!
