Have been coming here for a long time. Always has been amazing food each time. We usually order pho and sometimes pad thai. The pho has been incredibly delicious. The pad thai the two times I have ordered months apart has been noticeably burned. It's really difficult to eat burned pad thai being pregnant so my husband switched with me. We had lunch here today. I like the staff they're casual friendly like you are an old friend but not too important a friend. Sit anywhere and 1st service is ice water with a cucumber slice. I had the B7 Bun noodles, prawns, little cut egg rolls and tasty beef. My partner in lunching adventures ordered B11 Bun noodles with just the egg rolls. My boyfriend took me here, because he's a local and really loved the old location they had. After one experience here, we both realized that this newly acquired space of theirs, easily falls up way short of what it used to be. We showed up at the new location on the 9th of December, 2013. It was very cold outside to begin with. I don't remember the exact temperatures, but it seemed to be at freezing temperatures at least. The heaters in the restaurant were broken or turned off, so you could literally see your own breath at the table we were sitting at. Once we got seated, it took about 20 minutes for a waiter to even show up and take our drink orders. By the time he showed up, I already knew what I wanted completely, as far as my drink, appetizer and dinner went. He took my entire order which was : Coconut Juice, Veggie Egg Rolls, and a mixed Veggie Curry with Tofu over noodles. My Boyfriend ordered a Watermelon Bubble Tea, and a Seafood Curry over rice. My Waiter then proceeded to sit and talk on a phone in a separate booth across the room. Eventually a lady brought out my boyfriends bubble tea, and never actually brought my Coconut Juice out. About 20 minutes went by, and still no sign of my waiter, other then the fact that he was in the other booth talking on the phone. A cook eventually came out and gave my boyfriend the right dish, but I ended up getting a curry over rice with a ton of meat in it. Definitely not what I ordered. Not to mention I still didn't get my appetizer or even my drink yet. I tried to stop the cook from walking away, saying rather loudly, "Excuse me sir, this isn't what I ordered..." and he just walked away. I could not believe it. Trying to find a waiter was impossible, and having ours just simply check in to see if our food was okay, was also impossible. At some point in time, a different waitress happened to walk in the premises finally and I was able to pull her aside and let her know that I still didn't get my coconut juice, and I also didn't receive my appetizer yet either, and I also had the wrong meal. And, in case you forgot, it's pretty much freezing in the establishment this entire time. The lady apologized and took my dish back. Eventually the waiter we had got off the phone and came to check on our table for the first time in the night. I told him what I was missing, and he proceeded to go to the kitchen to find out what happened. He came back out shortly after, explaining that a bunch of dishes got mixed up, as somebody ended up with my Veggie Curry over noodles (not rice, like I got), and also my appetizer. As far as my drink went, they just completely forgot about that. I didn't even have a water. They finally brought my my coconut juice, dinner and appetizer all at the same time, after my boyfriend was long done eating. It's a shame, because the food was moderately good, but the service on the other hand -- Wow. What a nightmare that was. Good thing I counted the number of containers- was almost shorted one item. Unfortunately, that item was my soup, and the roach in it was an appetite killer. Okay, but riddle me this: this is a Vietnamese and Thai restaurant. My dad ordered a pad thai- pretty standard Thai food right? I quote my dad "I swear the cook must be crazy, like did this guy just not have any sugar when he was young? It literally was just boiled noodles drizzled with honey and peanuts. No eggs, no vegetables, no lemon. I had to force myself to eat it." I had the green curry with seafood, which was decent the first 3 bites, but it was way, way, way too sweet. I really wish he had come to refill our waters since the sugar was just overwhelming. Nearly the titration point of saturation. My mom ordered the com tam with chicken but as soon as it came out we were like "wtf is this". It was boiled chicken drizzled with the sauce, rather than just cooked within the sauce - so it was bland af. My dad said he feels bad for the people who live here - they don't know what real viet food is, and those who like this place probably never had it. It's all.. in a nutshell, whitewashed. Horrible staff as soon as I walk in. Really dude on the middle age guy with glasses tattoo on his neck. Instead of coming to ask for refill he ask are you guys done after getting our good within five minutes. He ignored me when I ask for straws. No one was professional. Food: Delicious! Service: Bad enough to stay away... I used to be a huge fan of this place. I went here all the time with my friends, and when I worked at the Eureka Inn, I used to really encourage guests to try it out, especially since it was right across the street. Since they moved, things have changed. The spring rolls are a lot smaller - not only are the actual rolls tiny now, but you only get three rolls instead of four to an order, and the service is becoming really bad. Is it just me, or is the one guy with the rectangular tattoo on the side of his neck really cold and kind of snarky? He says stuff that I would have normally found to be playful except that he has a bad case of resting bitch face, and I get this air that he's not joking; he's veiling boredom and rudeness behind fake humor. Or maybe he's just awkward or anti-social and only works there because he's got some ties to the owners family, who knows. Example: I once asked if it was possible to get a more mild curry, as I don't like spicy food - I didn't just willy nilly try to order mild curry when there's no such thing is on the menu, I asked if it was *possible*. He said he'd ask the cook, then he never got back to me, and when he brought the bowl he said, "extra spicy, right?" as he set it down - I thought he was joking, until I took a bite. It really was extra spicy. The way he'd said it was flat out sarcastic, so I naturally figured that he was just being playful because that's the opposite of what I'd asked for. He'd even stood there and waited for me to acknowledge the quip, like loomed over my table waiting for me to validate what he'd said, so I'd laughed a little and said, "no", after which he'd walked away. So I'm thinking clearly he was joking, he's just bad at jokes, then I taste my curry and oh holy god HOT!! I've tasted regular curry at Indian places that wasn't that hot! Why!? I debated sending it back, but with his attitude this is exactly how you get your food spit in. My friend never got her entree while we were seated, either, even after she asked for it a second time. It ended up only being ready after we were pretty much done and about to leave (and ask for it to be removed from the bill) so she took it to-go. In fact, I think he overheard us discussing how we werent' going to pay for it, and it magically appeared a few minutes later. Same server charged me $7.94 for an order of spring rolls, too... I sat down and looked at the menu while I waited, pretty sure that price was wrong. They're supposed to be $6.95, plus Eureka's two separate taxes amount to a total of 8.25%, so it should have come to $7.52. It's only a 42 cent difference, but it's still a discrepancy. So either he charged me for the wrong item, or just flat out punched in the wrong price. I wasn't sure off the top of my head if maybe there was some tax I was forgetting, so I didn't say anything, but it felt wrong - I order the spring rolls all the time. Went home and looked it up, and yeah, he overcharged me. One time I had come in wearing one of those hoodies with the skeleton silhouette on it and he greeted me by asking me if I was still dressed for Halloween. :/ Nah man, it's just a sweater... but your poker face and monotone make it hard to tell if you're goofing around or making fun of me. I'd usually give someone the benefit of the doubt that they're just trying to be cute because it's part of being a server, but the look on his face makes that seem like a stretch, geez. This used to be one of my favorite places, back when they were by the Eureka Inn. It's a shame that my very first review has to be a negative one but this place is literally a health inspectors worst nightmare, not to mention every single time I've been here the service has been horrific! Nothing compares to my dining experience this evening though. I walked in around 630 with my boyfriend and his mom. we stood by the cash register waiting to be seated when a lady that had already ordered take out walked up and told the man at the register that he had forgotten part of her order. The man said "oh yeah, you didn't get your broth" insinuating it was her fault and simply handed her a bag that must've been sitting out for a while without any apology. Another waiter then walked up and told us to sit anywhere, but as we started to walk around the premises of the dining area we realized every single open table was still dirty from the previous customers so we were forced to sit at an 8 person table in the corner. Our waiter walked up, threw three menus down on the table and said "don't worry guys, we'll make this work" as he pulled the other table away from ours leaving maybe six inches of space between the two tables. At this point I got up to use the restroom, upon entering I noticed a fowl smell and when I opened the bathroom stall I was GREETED WITH THE LOVELY SIGHT OF FECES SMEARED ALL OVER THE LID OF THE TOILET. I proceeded to the second stall only to find that there was no lock on the door, no toilet paper and no sanitary toilet covers. When I got back to our table the waiter was in the midst of taking my boyfriends order. When I sat down he looked at me and said "what you want?" I ordered the b8 ( lemongrass chicken and prawn bun with egg rolls). We waited maybe 10 mins or so when my boyfriends moms dish was brought out by another guy who slide the bowl across the table, said "tofu" and walked away. Then he came back and slid the two other bowls across the table and said "beef" and "chicken". I sat there staring blankly at my dish because I was really confused about what the giant hunk of pinkish grayish meat sitting in the middle of my bowl was. I debated whether or not to return my meal but really didn't want to make a scene in front of my family and WAS REALLY WORRIED THAT ID SURELY RECEIVE SOME SORT OF REPERCUSSION FOR MY COMPLAINT BASED ON THE STAFFS BAD ATTITUDE. I decided to chalk it up one last time and never return. I sat through my gristle and chicken fat without any water left in my glass to choke it down as I watched our waiter refill drinks and ask other tables how their meal was. When we were done eating I got up to pay at the register; our waiter gave us the total and proceeded to say something to another staff member in a different language,gave me my change, and walked away. I never have gotten warm fuzzy feelings from this establishment but today I just felt flat out disrespected. This is one of maybe three Vietnamese restaurants within a 200 mile radius if you count the bahn mi drive thru in Eureka. It's really sad that they don't take any pride in providing high quality food and service so that they can give the best representation of legitimate Vietnamese cuisine to an otherwise devoid area. *I fell asleep last night before posting this review* All through the night me and my boyfriends sleep was disrupted due to extreme gastrointestinal pain......I guess his mom made the wiser decision by ordering tofu. You can taste the authenticity and feel that they truly want to serve great food. they are willing to answer questions, but there are only two servers so you always feel rushed. Stopped in here today for lunch. I ordered pineapple curry with chicken and rice. The description stated it was "meadium" spicy and it was too hot for me to eat (I'm pretty sensitive to spicy food) so I told the server and he explained that the company they buy the curry from labels it medium and that they would replace it with a yellow curry instead. The service here is fast and courteous. I appreciated that there wasn't a big deal made about changing my order. This is a great hole-in-the wall place to grab lunch. Price was $1-2 higher than expected per dish and quality didn't reflect that price increase so I am giving this place four stars accordingly. read more

I love the food here. It's delicious and affordable. I have eaten here probably 20 times and the customer service is always poor. My last experience was so bad I am reluctant to go back. I have been served the wrong food and treated as though it was my mistake and not their's. I have paid for food I didn't order. I am surprised to see that this place doesn't rate higher in Humboldt. It is where I go to eat when I am in the area. I will admit that I haven't been very adventurous with the menu. Partly because I don't get here much and I am in love with a couple dishes. The vermicelli with BBQ beef and egg rolls is really amazing. The parking lot can get crowded and it is hard to park a decent sized vehicle there. Some of the employees come off rude, but not all of them. Never have I been asked what I would like to drink.
