we got there at 8:10 and they close at 9 and the second we got there the lady said "you have to eat fast or take it to go." shocked at how rude they were we said we would get it to go and realizing she's losing business tells us to sit down. while we were sitting they were sweeping at our feet and taking sauces off our table that we could've needed for the food. They rushed us through our entire order and placed the check on our table, didn't even ask us if we wanted to split it in half which we did. TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE AND SO INCREDIBLY RUDE. The place had quite a few Asians inside so I thought it was promising. I ordered the V2 which comes with pork. The dish ended up coming with a mystery meat. Not what I was expecting. I got Pho 3x in a row, electing to try the flat noodles the fourth time... that was a mistake. It was extremely oily and heavy, and over all a bit bland. I was very pleased with the food and service here. I was so iffy coming to a new pho place when I am out of town, but thanks goodness that we did. Pho dac biet and hu tieu was delicious (minus the meatballs which is not so good). Thai tea and Vietnamese coffee are also good there (we even Togo some). This is my favorite place for Vietnamese food and it's near the Square. I rated them 5 stars because they have great food, prices, and service. The pho is unbeatable-flavorful, not too salty and served in a generously with fresh herbs, lime, and jalapeno. The banh mi (sandiches) are delicious. They're made with fresh bread and just the right balance of fillings and spread. Last thing-try the vermicilli bowls with shredded (crunchy) romaine lettuce and cucumber, light dressing, and a choice of proteins. It's the best vermicelli bowl I have had, though it's hard to choose between the grilled shrimp and grilled pork. read more

Had to get our waters replaced TWICE because there were black specks in them, there was a BUG found deep into my pho as I was eating it, and while you try to eat your food you will be attacked by flies. The black specks should have been enough for me to leave but we stayed because of the reviews, complete mistake. The fly not being on the surface let's you know that this thing was COOKED with the broth - so we will not be the only people tasting that fly (or flies for all we know) They did take the pho off our ticket (after we asked), and did only that when it came to making things right, a replacement wasn't offered - and we still had to pay for the rest of the food that may or may not have had a fly in it. The Owner sat in the back on the phone while ordering the waitress to do tasks while having to service the front. The food itself was ok and prices are only slightly over the quality value. The Crab Rangoon is ok but hard to eat without tearing due to the large size of the crust edges. The filling was minimal and the sauce was ok but just sugar. The Banh-Mi sandwich was lackluster as it wasn't prepared traditionally so the way the toppings were stuffed into a 6 inch bread roll was unbalanced. The broth in his soup was rich and i couldnt stop myself from sneaking spoonfuls of it. I also got the vegetable egg rolls which came out almost immediately after ordering and were great. The v8 is a shrimp vermicelli salad and at first i thought there wasnt enough shrimp but it was actually perfect and the flavor of the sauce and the greens with the shrimp is amazing i definitely recommend trying it. I can safely say when i come to san marcos i will be coming here again possibly for breakfast lunch and dinner!
