This was very good and a relaxed place to eat lunch. I got a large bowl of the combination pho, which had a slice eye of round, brisket, flank, meatballs, tendon, and tripe in beef broth. I probably could've been satisfied with a small bowl (they have small, large, and extra large pho bowls), but I was super hungry. I was greeted and promptly seated with a glass of water. It wasn't very busy at 11:30 but seemed like they had a large amount of to-go orders. The atmosphere was very relaxed and the staff was attentive and kind. The pho itself was very good. Some restaurants will skimp on the meats but this one did not and I appreciate that. The only nitpicking thing that I will add is that I wished I would've had more jalapeno slices than just two small slices to put in my bowl. I like my pho spicy and I should've asked for extra. Solid local option for Vietnamese food. This place brings me nostalgia as it was my go to place for lunch while in college. I still go back from time to time, and the taste has been consistent if not has improved. My all time favorite item here is the bun bo hue, which comes with the blood cubes as well. Might be controversial but I think it also compares to bbh from pho loung and pho tay do. I used to think their pho didn't taste very good but when I tried it recently, I think the flavor has improved! (Less overpowering star anise taste). The service is always good and they don't skimp on toppings in any of their dish. I did notice the recent price change up $2-3 on most dishes just FYI but you know, inflation. Its not often that I want to drive straight home after going to a restaurant and write a review immediately. But this was one of those times that I felt I needed to. First, the location is located in an area that you would normally not associate with a pho house, but I think that is a plus. Its right off Arapaho and Custer, which makes it very convenient for me. The restaurant is very nice and clean. Doesn't have that bleach odor or that "smell" associated with some viet locations. The staff is super friendly and attentive. Now lets talk about the food. I didn't get pho. I know... but I get weird about my pho. Probably because my mom used to make it and then we had to eat it for 3 months straight. So pho is not on my list of things I like to eat a lot. SO, that being said, I had their bun bo hue. Now, there is an awesome bun bo hue house down the road from where they are... and that joint, I am #1 foodie fan... However, after having their bun bo hue, I have to say... I LOVE IT. The broth is thick. Really thick... so you may not like that. But you get plenty of blood cake that tasted fresh, and pork sausage and meats.. and the correct condiments to go with it. AND, they were fast in getting it to you, which is important when you have to get back to work. Price was reasonable. About $1 more then the usual other places I hit up. It is a generous portion of ice cream and Oreo cookie crumbles (as the dirt) and the ice cream itself is a great consistency. It is presented so creatively on a tray with a mini shovel and rake. That is 5 stars on its own, yet everything else about this restaurant was equally as wonderful. Everyone we dealt with were super nice. We got two types of Pho. One with brisket and flank and the infamous chicken curry Pho. Both were excellent. I see the target audience Pho Truong appeals to: non-Vietnamese people. Food isn't terrible and not anything to write home about and service is..ok. Originally I gave this place 4 stars but after trying it a second time nearly 2 years later, I have to give it 2 stars. We waited an extensive amount of time for our food to arrive--which is abnormal for a pho restaurant. The broth should already be cooked and the only thing left to do is cook the noodles and add the meat and garnishes. And even though we waited a long time for our food, they still forgot one person's order. I found a piece of long hair in my pho..something I never really like to see.. I ordered the Pho Dac Biet (combination pho) and it comes with a generous helping of meat. Brisket was cooked well and you also get pieces of tendon and fat which I love. I had the chicken curry pho (pho ca ri ga) the first time I came here, and I think they really should add more to it like potatoes, sweet potatoes, and carrots. NOTE: They do automatically charge for tip for large parties which is fine. However, when paying they turn the screen to you where it asks for more tip. If you're not aware that tip has already been added to your bill...you could be giving them 15% and then another 18%!! Side note: the chicken curry pho is super delicious with meatballs. The dark meat chicken does not set well with me, but that happens to me anywhere I go. Excellent Pho at a reasonable price. We have found other places in the Richardson, charging too much for the amount of Pho you actually get. Pho Truong provides a "large" that actually is. The Pho itself is always good, tasty and with lots of vegetables (we do order the vegetable). The provided vegetables to add on your own are crisp and fresh. The also provide packets with just the right amount of hot sauce and other goodies. Tonight I made a mistake on my online order (I'm over 60 - what can I say), and they would not take the money I offered to pay for the correct order, even though they had to throw away the mistaken order! After reading all the 4 star reviews, I was so disappointed when I tried their bun thit noung vermicelli bowl. The meat tasted old and unseasoned. The "grilled" aspect of it was disappointing as with this Vietnamese dish, it is common for you to get perfectly grilled thin pieces of meat that just melts in your mouth. The meat that I got was thick, chewy, and smelled a bit odd. I also ordered their spring rolls which also disappointed me as the peanut sauce was lacking in peanuts and the spring roll didn't taste very fresh. I do however appreciate that they have a vegetarian portion on their menu! I ordered the vegetarian pho and was pretty disappointed. The broth tasted heavily of just carrots and the only things in it besides the noodles was carrots, daikon, and tofu. I was really hoping for some greens- but there was none. It's not the best vegetarian pho I've had, but it's not terrible either. I think it's just... mediocre. I just didn't like the strong carrot flavor in the broth and the lack of greens.
