The pho broth was pretty good and the flavor was nice. The meat was okay, I've had better brisket / shank, but the beef balls were good. Not a huge fan of leaving the head of the bean sprout on but that's personal preference. Overall, nothing super mind blowing but if you are craving pho it gets the job done. Yum! Everyone in our family loves pho so it is always fun to try out a new place. The space was very clearly a different type of estrangement before (I'm guessing some sort of deli) so don't expect anything special about the decor. But that doesn't matter because the food and service are delicious! The menu has traditional Vietnamese options (pho, bahn mi, noodle bowls) but also has things the less adventurous eaters will enjoy (fried rice) We started with fried spring rolls and fresh spring rolls. The fresh ones are a really nice size and the peanut sauce served with them is delicious. Something we loved is that there is a kids portion size for the pho! It was $9.99 and still a nice size portion. They also don't add the onions. My daughter was thrilled! I had the beef pho. Huge portion, tasty broth and a variety of meat. I don't like the meatballs (nothing against their preparation of them, I don't like them anywhere) so when we go back I'll make sure to tell them not to include them. My son had the chicken fried rice and while it was a pretty standard fried rice, he really enjoyed it. One thing to note is that the entire staff is a husband and wife team (she cooks, he's the host/server) so if there are several parties in the restaurant it might take awhile to get your food. When walking in you can tell it's a family own business. You see their family photos post along the wall. The owner was very nice and came to take our order. We order quite a few things. Nothing came out first. We waited 30mins for all the food to come out at the same time. And we were starving so it seems so long. However the food was all outstanding!!! Wow!! The absolute best Pho I've ever had. And I've had quite a bit of Pho over the years on the west coast. I discovered this hidden little gem nestled along the road in Monongahela while driving through one day. My husband and I finally gave it a try today and we were absolutely blown away! The owner, Duong was our server and what a super nice and interesting man. He told us all about his life in Vietnam and how he and his wife ended up in the area. He explained every dish to us and how the flavors were developed. Not only was the Pho broth spot on and delicious, the fresh spring rolls were amazing. This family owned Vietnamese restaurant is one of handsome husband and I's favorite places to grab food for date night. They have a simple menu that is oh so delicious. I usually stick with the Bun Thit Nuong -- it's so good that it never gets old. I want to buy a big bottle of whatever they marinade the beef in. Make sure to add the egg roll onto your B-11 order. The crisp along with the crunch of the fresh veggies perfectly matches the softness if vermicelli noodles and the richness of the beef and shrimp. The banh mi sandwich is also a winner in the menu. The portion sizes are generous. I'm always more than full. Customer service is speedy. The owner is very friendly and is never too busy to personally greet his customers. If I could give a 3.5, I would. The place is a "4 star", in my opinion. However, there are some things that I have issues with, that would warrant me giving a "3 star"--but I am not doing so at this time because of the positives that we experienced. Will update accordingly next time we try it, and see if we receive the same issues that I will discuss. With our first time here, we can agree with the other reviews that the owner is very friendly, kind, and is willing to discuss the menu with anyone who has questions. For drinks, their thai tea was awesome, and trying the basil seed drink was interesting. The Basil Seed Drink had little seed-bubble things going on in a banana-honey type flavored drink...very interesting. Really liked them both. For appetizers, we tried the egg rolls and the fresh spring rolls. I was a bit unimpressed with the egg rolls, but, was "wow'd" by the fresh spring rolls. This was the first place that I have had them where they included a slice of bbq pork inside. They were huge, and delicious! Absolutely loved the peanut sauce that came with them. For dinners, we tried the chicken fried rice and their home made Pho. The chicken fried rice was good, but I was not overly impressed. While I think it was good, I do not believe it warranted the price charged for it. The Pho was good, with regards to the broth. I was a little thrown off by the beef that came with it, as it had A LOT of fat/gristle. I did not like the meatballs that came with it at all. They were very rubbery, and extremely suspicious. If I got this again, I would more than likely ask that they be left out. Overall, it was good...but I do not think the prices charged are commensurate with what should be charged for what you're getting. We do want to return, and try some of the other items, though. I cannot say enough great things about Pho Valley. We go at least once a week. The owner is very kind and always provides great conversation if time permits. We typically get the Pho Valley Soup. It's absolutely delicious, the flavor is so rich and deep and it absolutely warms you up every time you eat it. It's fantastic for take out too if you don't have time to sit and eat it. I prefer dining in, it's a quiet little restaurant and there is just something special about eating there. I can't forget to mention the Thai Tea, so good, I could drink it by the gallon! Seeing a Vietnamese roadside diner on Rt. 88 south of Pittsburgh was enough of a surprise that I had to stop. When I walked in, the place was very clean and very empty except for the owner's daughter quietly eating dinner in the corner booth. Then the customers began arriving. The four or five customers who came and went each had compliments for the owner. This spoke volumes. They weren't just happy that Pho Valley was there... they sounded downright grateful. There is a covered outdoor seating area, which I wish I'd seen first -- it was a beautiful early evening and the restaurant backs onto an undulating golf course. Next time I go, I'll take an after-dinner walk along the golf cart paths. I haven't mentioned the food. The more thorough reviews here get it right, so I'll just add that the food struck me as not just fresh, but *clean*. I'd done a favor for my body by eating there. The food has to be good, because the restaurant isn't fancy enough to distract from any other deficiencies. And good it is. My favorite part was the sweet, thin sauce poured over the Bun Thit Nuong noodle salad. That, and the spring roll with peanut sauce. As I packed up my leftovers, I listened to the owner discuss with another customer why he uses one type of cucumber over another in his dishes. There's some obvious thought and care here. Monongahela got lucky when this restaurant arrived. Don't let this place go out of business, folks. ALSO: Check out the handwritten signs in the restroom. They're charming and on point. Food was amazing! My husband got the chicken wings, crunchiest wing I've ever eaten! I got the bun thit nuong, which is beef with a couple shrimp, noodles, and salad, it was delicious, beef was flavorful and tender, the sauce that came with it finished the dish off nicely. We also got egg rolls which are little but probably the best I've ever had. You get two in an order so it makes up for their size. I am already thinking about when I'll return for the soup! We recently moved back to the area and were pleasantly surprised to find that the Mon Valley had gained a Pho restaurant! Now it's been a while since I've had pho, but I remember it being one of the most flavorful soups I've ever had. We place the takeout order later in the evening about an hour before close, and they were incredibly accommodating, made sure it was ready for us within 20 minutes, and had it neatly packaged so that the broth wouldn't overcook the noodles before we got it home. The staff were incredibly and genuinely friendly when we swung by to pick it up. The soup was outstanding and the portion generous. Legitimately hit the spot on a cold winter night. It was my partner's first experience with pho and she remarked how absolutely delicious it was. We'll be back again. And again. And again. First impressions mean a lot and they've more than earned our business. read more

Small menu, but terrific food. After a lengthy discussion with the friendly owner, everything but the rolls are freshly made. The soup sampler we received with our lunch entrees was delicious. I'm not sure how they came upon fresh cilantro, but I'm not complaining. The fish sauce that came with our rice dishes was a definite highlight. I used the whole container and would have used more (next time!) if I had thought about it. One thing the owner mentioned not on the menu is that they will alter the spice/heat to your taste (scale of 1 to 10). Knowing this, I can't wait to return and crank up the heat. I'm probably not going to be able to express to you reading this, exactly how great this little place is. First of all, it's clean. I love clean restaurants. The owners take a lot of pride in this place, it's evident. It was my first time here since they opened this place, and I'll be back to try everything. I ordered a Sprite and looked over the menu. It's small, but what's on it should cover anyone you take with you. I decided on the Pho Valley bowl. The owner, who was also my server told me the cook the broth for 8-10 hours. Before I received it, he brought me a complimentary egg roll. It was thin, crunchy, piping hot, and full of flavors. Like heaven in my mouth When he brought the bowl to me, he asked if I'd ever tried it before and I told him no. The bowl is huge! He proceeded to walk me through adding the hoisin sauce and the lime and had me taste it after adding each to show me how these simple ingredients added to the flavors to compliment what was already in the bowl. There were also three thin slices of jalapeño to give it heat, if that's something you like. It was literally the perfect amount . He also told me, he likes to explain this to new patrons, as he is bringing a new culture to our area, and wants it to be represented in the proper manor. He was so kind and personable and while the menu is small, as I'm pretty sure he runs it and his wife cooks, it's well represented and they go the extra mile pertaining to everything with this restaurant. Randomly found Photo Valley on my GMaps while looking for food today. I got so excited that I found Vietnamese food 3 miles from my work Belle Vernon, which is surrounded by crummy fast food chains. I got pho and it tasted amazing, just like it's suppose to! If you like Tram's in Lawrenceville, I recommend this place, another authentic restaurant focus on good food. They also gave me a free tea! This isn't normally the type of food you see around here, but hey, it's a change of pace, so I wanted to give it a go. Menu is fairly small. I don't normally eat any sort of Vietnamese cuisine, especially Pho because they use cilantro and I'm one of those people where cilantro tastes like soap... But, they do have this basil seed drink, which was really refreshing. It had these notes of honey in it that I've never really had in a drink before. I would definitely get that again, but it's about as adventurous as I got here though. I am something of a picky eater. I ended up getting the chicken wings. They weren't bad. I mean, not the best wings I've ever had, but serviceable. I do like the peanut sauce they give. I had to try some of that on them. My daughter and I loved going to Pho restaurants when we lived in the DC area and have missed them since moving here. Boy were we excited to see this place! It took me a while to finally get here but definitely worth the wait. The first thing I noticed is how bright and clean everything was inside. I was surprised when I was greeted and told to have a seat. They wait on you here and take your order. Wow! I like that, usually we would order at the counter and they would call us up when our food was done. So this was just icing on the cake! I'm assuming he was the owner. He was very pleasant, welcoming and friendly. We had the egg rolls for an appetizer, shrimp fried rice and the Vietnamese soup. Everything was so fresh and flavorful. My daughter's grandmother is 100% Vietnamese and she misses her cooking. She said that this was "just like grandmas" so that's quite a compliment. Being that is the only Vietnamese food within a 30 mile radius, it is the best Vietnamese food within a 30 mile radius! I've certainly had better Vietnamese food in big cities (it would not be fair to compare this to Houston, TX), but I can't say that I've had better Vietnamese in Pittsburgh. So this is pretty good, and considering the food sophistication desert in which this restaurant is located, I'm very happy with it! I really do appreciate that it is somewhat authentic and that the Vietnamese cuisine is respected and represented as its own dining experience. They do not have an Asian conglomeration menu with "sushi" and crap egg rolls. They focus on freshly prepared Vietnamese yummyness. I also like that they have weird Asian drinks in cans to try. I was very excited for this restaurant to open up. A coworker and I decided to call in a lunch order to-go here today. I ordered shrimp fried rice ($13) and two egg rolls ($4.50) My coworker ordered bbq chicken ($10.50). The food is very good quality; there were no complaints about the taste. It's just the prices are WAY too high, the menu is extremely small and the portions are nowhere near worth what they charge. $13-$14 dollars for a container of fried rice is very unreasonable to me when you can go to a buffet for half the price. I'd like to try the Vietnamese soup, but at $12, I am afraid to waste my money. Not sure if I'll be back.
