Let me start with spice level 4! Do not eat it on an empty stomach ! But if you can handle a good spice level this is great otherwise just go for spice level 1 and you'll be alright! lol. Our server was prompt and friendly and the food and drinks we ordered came out quickly. I enjoyed the dancing shrimp and spring rolls. Both were crunchy and VERY hot when they came out. I ordered my pad thai a level 5/10 spicy and it packed some serious heat. I like to think I can handle a medium level of spice, but this was slightly above that. My mom's drunken noodles were a 5/10 too, but we could barely taste the spice. My brother had the crab fried rice, also a 5/10, and his was just as spicy as mine. Needless to say, the interior was spacious and the decor was lovely with orchid flowers, hanging lights, traditional Asian style art, along more whimsical, modern artwork. The food here was very flavorful. Service was super slow though. Restroom was a hike downstairs and was a bit dirty/old. I LOVE LOVE LOVE Dancing Crab Thai Noodle House! I stopped in with a coworker for lunch on 3/19 and our server was so sweet. We each got a Thai tea, pad thai, and split the edamame. The food came in a generous portion (even the lunch size!) and you are able to pick how spicy you would like the pad thai. They make their own chili oil which was so fragrant and delicious. I think every Thai restaurant in pgh is good for different things and I think Dancing Crab has the best fried rice in the area. Stopped in w a couple friends and we had such a great time. The family who owns the establishment could not have been kinder and the service is always amazing. Their Thai tea is the best in the city and is, of course, delicious. Every person I've taken here has said that they can't wait to come back. I opted for the pineapple fried rice with tofu, you can choose between a couple different protein options but I wasn't really in the mood to eat meat. My friend got the same fried rice but with chicken and loved it. You will be asked what spice level you'd like your food and ONLY get the higher levels if you truly like spicy food. That might seem pretty self explanatory but I learned my lesson the hard way since the levels are a bit spicier than you think it would be. It's out of a scale of 10 and I opted for a 2.5. As someone who loves spicy food I felt like this was actually like a 4-5 so this was perfect for me. The portions are large so I had enough food for lunch the next day. A nice and popular Thai spot in Pittsburgh. The food is definitely high quality and quite flavorful. They have some very cool (but also a tad expensive) specials, but I stuck to ordering what I like. I tried the pad see ew with tofu and the Thai spring rolls. The pad see ew with tofu was pretty good. They give you a good portion for a very reasonable price. It is quite heavy on the noodles (not as much vegetables, tofu, or egg). The noodles were cooked really well and the sauce was delicious, but I do wish they had vegetables other than just broccoli. The spring rolls were pretty good, too. They again give a great portion. However, there's nothing too special about them. A nice, flavorful sauce on the side, and crispy rolls (they weren't stuffed with much though). Decently good. All in all, a very solid Thai spot. I'm quite picky about Thai food because I've been to both amazing and crappy places, so I came in with no expectations. It's nothing fancy but has a larger dining area than expected. Portions were quite generous. 4 dishes for 3 people was way more than enough, and we took leftovers home. Also, my spice tolerance is pretty good, and the spice levels are actually accurate. Get a 4 or 5 level if you want a little kick but not overpowering. They definitely don't not skimp on flavor or spice. Fried rice: Great texture and flavor. They added a generous amount of chicken and vegetables as well! Pad Thai: They added a good amount of bean sprouts and peanuts. However, I did not like the taste of this one, and I usually LOVE pad thai. Maybe it was the sauce they used, but it was odd. I feel like this should have been better given the quality of the other items we ordered. Drunken noodles: Thick, slurpy noodles. What's not to love? Amazing texture and flavor with a little kick. I also loved all the vegetables. The tofu was cooked to perfection and wish they added even more. Panang curry: This one was up there along with the drunken noodles. We ordered this slightly spicier which was the right move. It had a variety of vegetable and was irresistible on top of fluffy sticky rice. I don't like spicy food so next time I'll choose "1" but one coworker ordered a 7 said it was great and he would make it hotter next time. The food had great flavor and the portion was good if you're hungry! The owner and chef came out and introduced herself which was appreciated. It was perfect in spiciness and the chicken was not over cooked (as is sometimes an issue.). Be careful of the spiciness factor if you're not ready for it. Wasn't a good night. It took 27 minutes to just get water and put in ourcocktail order. Cocktails...mind you we ordered nothing more than 3 Grey Goose with olives...took another 31 minutes, annnd which arrived at our table as Goose with orange. An hour in, and after another staff member just took over our table, our food order was finally taken. We stayed cool because we were excited to try the fooooood! I was most excited to try the Khao Soi short rib entree. It really is a beautifully plated dish. HALF of the dish was absolutely delicious... short rib was tender and the flavors of the dish were really great. The other half of the dish...and sadly the larger piece of short rib...was woefully underdone in that it was so full of fat that hadn't yet cooked out. Blecgh. Pad Thai was fine. Just....ehh fine. We might have had dessert but they never offered it... which was OK by us because we had already been there for 2 1/2 hours. Quite a long time for cocktails and entrées, wouldn't you say? Came here on a recent weekend night, after a UPitt football victory. Treated my daughter and her friend to a "family style" feast as the friend had never had Thai food and we'd heard great things about this spot! Our waitress was super-friendly and helped us space-out the meal so it all didn't come out at the same time, allowing us to savor and enjoy each course of dishes. We ordered three appetizer style plates and two main dishes and it was the perfect amount of food for four hungry humans. Our three appetizers included plates of crab Rangoon, chicken sate and dancing tempura shrimp. Their crab Rangoon seemed to have real bits (and flavor) of crab, whereas most other versions of this often taste just like cream cheese. It came a light, sweet and spicy dipping sauce that complimented the fried star-shaped Rangoons quite well. The chicken satay had that fantastic grilled char to them, served on wooden skewers and accompanied by the same dipping sauce as the crab Rangoon along with a spicy, creamy peanut sauce that I actually ate with a spoon when we were done (I never let that sauce go to waste!!!). Last was the tempura shrimp which were plump and artistically piled high against a bed crispy noodle and then drizzled with a "signature sauce" which was creamy and spicy. Delish! Our two main dishes included chicken pad Thai in tamarine sauce and beef drunken noodles in chili garlic sauce. Their pad Thai was substantial, almost overflowing out of the bowl. The tamarine sauce was sticky, sweet but also spicy (as you'd expect) and the chopped peanuts on top added just a little crunch to the overall texture of each bite. We chose beef as the protein in our drunken noodle dish...it paired well with the flat rice noodles, bell peppers, cabbage and basil. The chili garlic sauce clung to every morsel in the dish making for a pungent, bitey bite each time. This late-night meal did not disappoint, and I look forward to many return visits when we are back in town! read more

I have heard so many amazing things about this restaurant, so I had to try it out for myself. I got a pineapple fried rice with chicken, crab Rangoons, and Thai Tea. One of my favorite things besides the food is you can customize the dish, they let you pick spice level and what protein you would like. Let me tell you though if you don't like spicy foods, get a 0 because the spice is strong. The food was amazing, it was spicy and all flavors combined nicely. I have never had crab Rangoons like these. The Thai tea was okay, it had a little bit of an aftertaste which was kinda disappointing because I love Thai tea.
