We had the chicken wings and the spicy Pho Kim roll. My fiancé said "these may be some of the best chicken wings I've ever had". The sushi was great! I had the Phoga and it was good! Great portions for the price. I really enjoyed it but my fiancé's choice stole the show. He got the rice dish with pork. Met some friends that always want to stop at Pho Kim 88 when in town. This place is interesting. Old decor, still has the covid plexiglass sheets up to separate. The waiter was fast and overly efficient, somewhat comical. Our food came out quickly and was hot. We started with Spring Rolls that were good that have shrimp and some of the fake crab in it. I work in Allegheny County and needed to do some groceries before heading back down to Washington. Decided to pick up some Vietnamese which I have never had before. I got their photai noodle soup, spring rolls and crispy cheese wontons. Their portion for their photai noodle soup is huuuge, I mean just look at it. The photai noodle soup has Slice rare beef, onion, cilantro. Then all their soups include siding FRESH bean sprout, basil, pepper, lime, plum-sauce and Sriracha Pho Beef broth. I don't even think I put a dent in it! I absolutely enjoyed all their fresh ingredients that they provided me for it. And am excited to have it for a couple lunches. Their spring rolls were delicious absolutely loved their house fish sauce. The crispy wontons definitely lived up to their name, perfect amount of crispiness. I did have an issue with finding their website. So I ended up asking for a paper menu and then they told me their website is .net which causes some confusion. Which is nice to know because they have such a bigger selection than what I saw on the @yelp menu. Love this place so much and the value and quality of the menu is worth the money you spend for it. I have ordered here numerous times from seafood kimchi pho to the pad thai to their calamari appetizer, it's all been really tasty and worth the price. Parking is even lovely as well since there are a lot of spots compared to other options places. read more

I've been here twice for lunch with coworkers, and it is always a good experience with tasty food. The first time I ordered chicken pho, which was great. This time I ordered a salmon sushi roll. It was simple, but fresh and tasty. The staff here are friendly and attentive. Our table had our food served within 15 minutes of ordering. Not my favorite place in Pgh. I ordered com chicken which is a viet dish. If I ordered hibachi, it would have been the same exact dish except the Com dish came with an egg. The egg was overcooked. My husband ordered the viet bun dish. The veggies were not fresh and not seasoned right for a viet dish. I would not come back. I'm having a hard time writing a review for this one. If I told you I loved the food and we were there a total of 50 minutes on a Saturday night, would you give it 5 stars? Well that's what happened. If I started off with the fact we waited 5 minutes to be seated as first in line and then we didn't see a wait staff in the table area for another 20 minutes, would you give it 1 star? Well, that's what happened. We had no drinks and others were just waiting around with empty plates. It took us 25 solid minutes to order and only after I went up to the kitchen area and asked someone to help us. I took less than 5 minutes for them to take our order and deliver our 2 bowls of phoga (chicken). We ate and paid in about 20 minutes. That's incredibly fast. Workers in the service industry are hard to find these days. Having the entire restaurant not see waitstaff for 20 minutes is really unacceptable. They were working on take out orders I presume. The food and pricing were great. My compassion wins out this time, but I really hope this level of service is not the new normal. read more

My husband picked up two orders of beef pho for the two of us. We've tried several kinds of pho here and all have been very good. The portions are large. The to-go pho is huge! We could have easily been satisfied sharing one, but we're happy to have the leftovers. When they package pho to go, they keep the noodles, the broth, and all the fresh veggie and herb accompaniments separate. This makes all the difference. When pho is packaged all together for to go orders, the noodles are usually too mushy by the time you get it home to eat. We love this place! read more

The meat was chewy and had a flavor I had never tasted in any meatball pho EVER! I ended up wasting most of them. The broth was bland at best (definitely not a slow cooked bone broth for 12-16 hours! The best part of PHO is placing the bowl upto your lips and slurping the broth! I skipped this and let it leave the table mostly full! First timer and thought it was really good. Wanted to support a local and this place was getting some great reviews. The have a shard parking lot on 88 but not hard to get a spot. Especially the fried rice so thought I would try. I called to order and the person who took the order was friendly and kind -- took about 15 min till foos was ready for pick up. Got Pad Thai ( chicken ) which wa droid but the noodles where thicker than I am used to -- still delicious The rice was good - they gave shrimp sauce for it which I love so bonus! Oh my stars we will be back. We ordered takeout on our way home from visiting family. So glad we chose to try this place. We ordered seaweed salad, sushi rolls, banh mi, and vermicelli noodle bowl. Everything was fantastic. The seaweed salad wasn't too slimy or fishy. The ROYCE roll is shrimp tempura, crabmeat, avocado, and cucumber with baked salmon and spicy sauce on top. So yummy. I don't normally go for baked fish with my sushi but this hit the spot. The salmon tempura roll is salmon tempura, cucumber, cream cheese, and lettuce topped with signature sauce. Also good! I'm trying to enjoy cream cheese in my sushi rolls more since so many of them come with cream cheese and I don't want to make substitutions/amendments all the time. I also don't normally go for rolls with lettuce, so overall this was a nice change-up for me. The vermicelli noodle bowl was delicious. It comes with lettuce, beansprout, onion/fried onion, cilantro, basil, cucumber, carrot, a spring roll, sesame seeds, and a delicate fish sauce. I chose chicken for my protein - grilled honey lemongrass. I was happily surprised to see a spring roll in there since I skipped over that part of the description! I was going to give Pho Kim 4 stars because it's not "fine dining " but I couldn't think of any other reason, so 5 stars it is. The fresh rolls were tasty and full of flavor, I've had fresh rolls elsewhere that were so bland. my sea food pho was so good, scallops, mussel, shrimp and squid. SO had pho with tofu, he ate it all,I could not, there was so much that I had another meal the next day(morning!) Pho Kim is byo. Ended up coming here for dinner with some friends during COVID. Didn't have to wait long for a table for 4 people. The inside was sectioned off using tall clear plastic stands which was kind of fascinating to sit in. I ended up ordering the general tso's chicken dinner and it was THE BEST general tso's I have ever had! The chicken was quality meat, the portion size was an easy two meals, the sauce was a beautiful combination of sweet and savory, and it reheated really well the following evening for my second dinner. I just want to express that the staff at Pho Kim 88 is less than friendly. It is very strict business to them and seemed to have no customer service skills. I have been here before, ate in and had great pho. However when taking out all the woman said to me was the total in a stern voice and give a dirty look. I have been to countless Vietnamese and Thai restaurants and never have I had such lousy service. I am not one to leave bad reviews but the staff treat you like a number. To add to that, their Pad Thai is very poor. They use drunken noodles for the noodles and if you are familiar with Thai food, you know that thin noodles are used for Pad Thai --- not large wide noodles. This in itself ruined the meal for me. The place looks kinda out of place but the food they serve is outstanding . I drive 19 hrs on the road from Florida and I am so tired, we try out anyplace that hasn't closed because for some reason in Pittsburgh they mostly close at 5 pm. We called in to check if they were open , the call went well and we were happy we got our seat. We arrive at the time at 9 and 2 customers are about to leave so we know they close in 30 min. But the owner is very nice and when he knows we just arrived in Pittsburgh after the long road he tells us not to worry about the time and focus on the meal. This is the first time I have had PHo since I moved to Pennsylvania, and thanks to Yelp I found. Gem in Pittsburgh!!!! I will be going out of my way from time to time to eat here whe heading to the outlets and such:-) I ordered the fresh spring roll and they came out and I tell they were super fresh and they tasted delicious!!! I mean delicious I ate two all by myself and dared my fiancé to look at them. The menu has a large selection however I wanted pho so I decided on the pho Tai:) basic bowl of pho with rare beef. The pho came out and was the biggest bowl of pho I have ever seen in my life! I guess the waitress knew I was joansen (sp) either way I ate it all, I could t finish the meat but I did murder the bowl of pho!! The juice was perfect the pho was perfectly cooked the noodles were not overdone not was the noodles were perfect!! To make a perfect dish even better they brought out Japanese I team at the end! Stopped here to pick up a late lunch while my dog was getting groomed. I ordered the bento box...didn't know that was even a thing here. But it was a lot of fun. Everything was super yummy. The beef was cooked just right so that it was tender and flavorful. There was enough here for 2+ meals. The food came out way faster than I expected and was very hot even after I waited at the groomer for a bit. Staff was friendly and quick.
