Ive eaten a lot of pho in my life.. mostly from big city china towns. And this restaurant's pho broth has to be the most flavorful I've ever had. Wow! As a new resident of Wasilla, Alaska, I consulted Yelp for a few of the best restaurants in the area. When I read about this one while I was still in Michigan, I knew this was the first one I wanted to try, judging from the comments made by locals and the look of the menu. Pho Vatsana did not disappoint! From the extreme friendliness of one of the owners, Noy, to the deliciously complex dishes, this has fast become our all time favorite Pho/Thai restaurant ANYWHERE! On our first visit, we ordered the Mama's Special Chicken Curry (C1) because of the high recommendations on Yelp. It was A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!! My husband ordered the Larb - chicken (E2), which was an unusual blend of meat with chili pepper, onion, cilantro, lemongrass, garlic, lime juice, mint, lime leaves, all ground roasted and served over rice. It was delectable!! The mix of flavors was like a symphony to the senses! Choices we will definitely be re-ordering sooner than later! Our second visit was for lunch. We chatted extensively with super kind and gracious Noy. We asked what he would recommend for seafood orders, he promptly suggested the Pad Talay Ngai - Seafood Combo (C4) and the Pho Vatsana (P1). Both of these dishes remain 2 of our favorite all time entrees we've ever had! I jokingly told Noy that I wanted to jump into the huge bowl of Pho Vatsana and take a bath in it. Looking back, I was only half kidding... it was THAT good! Conclusively, we are thrilled about finding this gem in the valley and look forward to being regular customers for years to come! This is one of the best Thai/Lao/ restaurants I've been to. You're like walking into your mom's or grandma's kitchen when you walk into this place. The service is superb. You will feel at home. The cooking is excellent. I highly recommend their pho and chicken larb. The pho soup is very tasty, perfectly seasoned, there's no instant soup ingredient. I can say it is the best I've had. The chicken larb is excellent also. I like how it's seasoned with the right amount of each ingredient. As far as the dessert goes, just ask Noy what he recommends and you won't be disappointed. This is not the place to go for Ph! Both times I tried, I got this nasty, fishy, salty broth that is in no way close to resembling authentic ph. It's also such a shame when restaurants put garlic in it. We actually tried several different dishes and none of them were good, hardly edible. So I'm not thrilled. Great, sweet, fast service, and it's clean and quiet. But as a vegetarian, having ordered the vegetable stir fry, I was not impressed by the carrots, celery, broccoli mixture. There weren't any mushrooms, just a single strip of red pepper, and a bit of bok choy. Not very interesting, and bland. I'd have liked peanuts or garlic to sprinkle on it at least. Very friendly owner/manager! I always enjoy talking with him. Some of the most delicious pho broth that I have tried in Alaska. I always ask for extra chicken and prefer to eat pho that is prepared Lao style, with veggies such as broccoli and cabbage added. The broth comes out piping hot and definitely flavorful enough without adding anything, but a tiny bit of chili oil, Sriracha sauce and hoison goes a long way. The Pad Thai tastes great but I always request to leave the tofu out (I don't eat tofu), and the sauce seems a little watery at times but I just ask for extra servings of bean sprouts and scallions and it seems to balance the dish out. The portion could be a bit bigger. As for appetizers the chicken satay is exceptional - I usually don't even bother to order satay because I've had such disappointment. But their satay was super juicy and perfectly done, served with a solid peanut sauce and pickled veggies. The fresh spring rolls aren't the best I have ever had, but they are still pretty good. They also have a fantastic and reasonably priced Thai Iced Tea that my son begs me to get all the time. read more

This is my favorite Thai restaurant in Alaska. I go here 2-3 times a week, the staff is always super friendly to me. I love the Thai iced tea here it's the best over any other Thai restaurant to start off. The chicken fried rice is delicious here id definitely recommend to anyone. There spring rolls are always the best as well. From the drinks to appetizers, to the entrees anything is good on there menu.
