The Worst Customer Service I rarely, almost never write a review. The appetizers are fine, fish is burnt and dry, but the worst is the customer service. The environment is pleasant, however, the floor is dirty with cigarette buts and trash. Overall, the prices are over the top and it's not worth it. This review is for their banquet room specifically. I've been a dj at this venue a few times now. It's nice for smaller parties between 100-150 guests. Usually for more casual events. Not ideal for wedding in my opinions. They do have some sound restrictions because there are homes nearby. That's something to think about because they asked me to put the volume down even though I only used 2 12" speakers. My speakers are loud, but still, you won't be able to blast the music. The food was good. Maybe not as much variety as other venues. Parking on the street is limited, so you'll probably have to valet unless you're ok to walk a bit. read more

I enjoyed my experience here - I'm baffled at the reviews here. I ordered about a dozen different food dishes with a dessert sampler and everything was an experience. The atmosphere was nice and quiet as the tables were spaced out. Parking in the public street was hard to find but they do offer valet so that took care of that issue. Love the outdoor atmosphere since no one is allowed to sit indoors at this time, apparently more important people are sat towards the back and new folks are sat when immediately walked in the front. My dinner date frequents regularly and apparently gets some special seating/treatment - so no complaints there. I loved my experience - I know I would be back 100%. read more

I would give this place 5 stars but due to the owner guy letting people smoke in the patio they get 4 stars. My friend and I came here for lunch hungry and ready to eat some kebabs. We asked to be seated outside since it was such a beautiful day we wanted to enjoy the lovely outdoors. 10 minutes into talking and ordering our food I smelled cigarette smoke nasty smell it is, so I asked the owner if we can move inside due to their smoke. I thought in Glendale or any public places you can't smoke outside well I guess that wasn't the case, figuring he would tell them they couldn't smoke he moved us to the inside =( Bummer! Okay so on to the food, the food the lunch special is phenomenal! It includes a nice large portion of salad, hummus, pita bread. I order the chicken kebab plate it was seriously soooo good and the best chicken kebab I've had in a while, so flavorful, so juicy and just very tender and delicious. The rice itself wasn't my fav but it was good and it also included more pita but crispy pita bread which was seasoned and a great side to my food. Oh I have to mention while we were inside we also smelled a really bad smell it was cigar smoke so there was another patron smoking on the patio but it was a cigar. NASTY this was a total turn off. Probably the last time I will go to the place. The service is horrible. Our waitress was an Arabic lady. We had to chase her down to get any attention. We asked for the alcohol menu she first lied to us and said bottle service only. The hookah quality was horrible and nobody stops by to attend it. The food is average at best. Then they charge you a 18% gratuity I guess this is why none of the employees are motivated to provide service. The only service we got was from the valet guy. Recovering from the Christmas Eve bounty with extended family and relatives, Christmas Day this year was a more low-key affair. I decided to treat my parents and discovered this place was open and so decided to check it out. The outdoor dining area was pleasant, heated with ample patio heaters and the maître d' greeted us effusively and sat us instantly. He and the wait staff were very courteous, welcoming and accommodating. The food was quite well-prepared and rather fresh and tasty. The appetizers and main courses were all top-notch. For Lebanese fare, this was honestly some of the best I've had. I see some mixed reviews on here, some of them negative, but I can only vouch for my own experience, and it was a very positive one. Came here for lunch with a co-worker. It wasn't busy at all, lots of Armenian/Middle Eastern people here! Most of the people who were eating here when I came, were smoking outside. Ordered the veggie platter, which give you a sampler of all the veggies, and hummus and the falafels. Over all the food was pretty good, nothing amazingly special. It also took a while for them to bring us our food, which is a little strange, as most the veggie platter didn't have to get cooked. Service, overall was a little slow. I review restaurants based on three factors: food, atmosphere, and service. Phoenicia offers a good combination of the three factors. We decided to visit on a Friday night to catch some live music and spend an evening with friends enjoying hookah in the outdoor patio. Our order included a number of shared appetizers, a couple of kebab plates, and tea. Of the appetizers, the hummus and arais stood out as the best dishes. The kibbi, olives, falafel and salad were all good but not above and beyond. The shish lamb kebab and chicken skewers were quite good and I appreciated that our server was able to substitute rice for veggies and a slaw salad. While the atmosphere was great and the service was good overall, however, I didn't understand why the live entertainment was in the empty indoor area. The musician was good and I wished that they didn't overlap the outdoor area with other music. Nonetheless, we had a good time and enjoyed Phoenicia Restaurant. We have been going here for the past 30 years! They sure know how to piss their customers off though... The food has been really good the entire time, however that is not the case anymore! The hummus was the best you could ever find! Somehow, in the past year or so, you don't know who is making it or how it is going to taste. Their china is very dated and pretty beaten up. Teapots (the 2 remaining that they have) don't have nubs. The service has always been bad but we would put up with the china and the service because the food was good. Out of our ring of friends, non of them want to go there anymore because of the service. We were the only ones with my family that would go. Unfortunately they managed to piss us off to the point that we are done! And it is very sad! The last time we went there, the hummus, baba ghanouj, cabbage salad and fattoush were not eatable! The waitress took them back almost all full. Usually, all the plates leave our table completely empty. We ask the waitress if they had a new chef, she said no but turned out they had a new person who had made all that food. We were told by the manager that the original chef did not approve of the hummus taste in the morning and asked for it to be tossed out. However, they did not and kept serving. They took off the hummus baba ghanouj but not the salads. I told the manager that she knows we have been going there for years and years and if they did not take the salads off the bill also, we will never go back again. It was really not a money issue, it was the principal! She took only 1 salad off only and argued with us that the other salad was good and she would not take it off. Some of the servers and the manager here love to argue and fight with customers here for some reason. This was not the 1st time for us... Just wow, to how awful the service at this place, In all honesty if they did a competition for the top 10 worst service in California, Phoenicia would easily be ranked number 1 worst place to go to. I have been there 3 times and every time, I tell my crowd never come here again. They honestly ruined the night for us. We arrived at the door, with no one to great or seat us or any other guests, an old employee pointed with his hands at a table that we can seat ourselves at, We ordered Tea, which was served without sugar, , We asked 3 different staff members for sugar, no one seem to find it, a guest from the table next to us got up, went and got us the sugar . We ordered Cigars & Hooka which is the prime reason to what this place is known for. We had to ask several times for an ashtray. And then the hookas , that never came , we complained several times after 45 minutes wait , we asked for the check, thats when the hookas arrived and yet our Skinny server instead of of apologising for the delay, gave us an attitude and blamed the delay on the printer . If he was any good he would checking & following up on his table throughout their visit, to make sure customers are getting what they ordered, and getting a decent service in a timely manner. Dropping the check was another issue, They charged the wrong Cigar, and yet he had the nerves to tell us he had removed the hookas off the bill, and worst part they add TIPs automatically to every bill. The simple fact that they automatically add Gratuity to every bill, makes the servers not give any guests a decent service. Shame the place is quite cozy, and perfectly located , however very poorly managed. DO NOT waste your time, & Money on this place.
