We were there with a large group recently and it was our first time. The food was very very good with most of the traditional appetizers and kabob flavors well represented. The service was good but the food was dropped off with not much asking or checking if we might need a drink refill. At the end the clean up was swift and the ac was turned off. Perhaps another group was due in. I would definitely recommend the food and quality and we certainly plan to come back. Glad I didn't read the reviews before we came here. People love it or hate it. This is my absolute favorite Mediterranean restaurant. The food is just amazing. Specially their deserts, incredible. Servers are also great and always efficient, welcoming, polite. Specially Nova. The worst unprofessional experience I have ever had. Someone who works there and goes by the name "Toni" is extremely unprofessional and may be even a racist. My wife and I just walked into the restaurant and asked for a table, preferably by the street view. The tables were empty and literally there were good 10-15 people. The server told us to sit wherever we like. "Toni" approached us and told us that we can't sit at any table by the street view since it's already taken!! We go "ok let's sit somewhere else"!! After ten minutes, a guy and a girl just sat next to us. They seemed to know a customer that seemed to know "Toni". The costumer grabbed "Toni" and introduced him to the guy and the girl saying that it's their first time in the restaurant. Guess what!! He went a head and told them "let me upgrade you to a table by the street view, it's my treat to you for being here for the first time"!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WTF!!!! I'm just one foot away, you deck head, I can hear you!!!!! So, then I called him and I asked about what just happened!! he responded "sorry the costumer reserved two tables, so please don't think it's racism or something" !!! Outdoor seating, yes, but the space was so packed full of people, there was no attempt to social distance between tables. People were allowed to smoke cigarettes and hookahs because, I guess, it's outdoors. But you're smelling it the whole time and it competes with the so-so flavors of the food. Valet parking right on site, but no one was wearing a mask while they were INSIDE MY CAR. And they were not friendly or engaged--they saw my husband and I walk around the street looking for the entrance and did not bother pointing us in the right direction. No "good evening", nothing. I pointed out that the key was in the cupholder and the valet said "yup, I know that". Rude. 2 stars for the wait service staff's efforts to provide service to a sardine-packed area. I used to go here until about 3 years ago. I couldn't remember why we stopped going until my visit again last night after a friend who's never been there suggested it. The 2 stars are strictly for the food. The service, however, can leave you very ANGRY! This restaurant easily has the worst service you can find, beyond what you'd imagine. And when you finally get your check, you'll notice a generous 18% tip automatically added, regardless of how many are in your party. Great place to host a party or just hangout and smoke a hookah. We surprised my friend for his bday here and it went down without a flaw! Service and people worked nonstop to set up the surprise and then completely switched into server mode as soon as we got him in the door. They had everything waiting for us so all we had to do is start eating. They have a couple of banquet halls and a really big patio so you can have several events going on at the same time with plenty of room to spread out and dance. The live music was very professional and they play international music so you won't feel out of place if you invite all of your Middle Eastern buddies. The food was amazing and very well prepared. Now I know what a bunch of you are gonna say, that you have had better kabobs, but does it really matter? The hookahs are clean and don't have that ashy burned flavor like some places. It's a bit pricy at $27 for double apple but hey, it keeps out the undesirable element. Overall, Phoenica is very classy and elegant and perfect for birthdays, anniversaries or just to hang out. I wish I wrote a review last year 10 months ago. It was my daughter wedding and the day after we invited the guest who came from the East Coast for brunch even though the cousin and the Inlaw, they know the owner. He was the rudest according to the fees and extra charges which they call it service charge. It was about $500 when they said $40 a person don't believe them it's will cost you 60+ a person they add so many extra charges. If you say you will pay cash, they say we will take half of the tax SO , the other half goes to their pockets it's ridiculous. The food is not that bad I give it seven or six but other than that it's not worth a penny, they didn't allowed to bring drinks from the outside that's OK but they charge a lot for the drinks and in the end, they said nothing is left. We had lots of whiskey ,vodka bottles . Nothing we took back (half bottles) The reason I'm writing today because last week a friend dad passed away and they did lunch after the burial service and they weren't happy with the charges again I wish I knew they were doing it in the same place. (Writing this review after coming here for a reserved birthday dinner) We were seated in the outdoor area in the back corner. The outdoor patio was very cozy. They brought out an array of delicious appetizers, and I enjoyed all of the ones I tried. The rest of the food was very good too. We ordered two hookahs and they were very good at consistently changing the coals. They are a little pricey but the flavors were very good. Our waitress Amala (I believe that was her name) didn't come by as much as we would have liked her to, but she was very friendly and helpful with us. We even gave her a slice of the birthday cake because she said it was her favorite flavor! The main downside of the patio is that you are going to be DROWNING in cigarette smoke. I kid you not when I say that every single person at the table next to us was smoking a cigarette. Well I've been sitting here for 20 plus minutes for a simple to go order. The place is not crowded, when we called on the order they said 10 minutes. I waited 5 then drove over (I live within 1.5 miles), and assumed my small order would be ready or close to. No such luck. This is my last time going there. They are getting greedy and offering poor selection of Maza for a high price. I reserved a table for nine people and was not told on the phone that it is set menu on Saturday. When I arrived at the restaurant, I was told it is a set menu for a $35 per person. I usually don't like that as they force certain plates that I don't like. We told them that we had a late lunch and we are here for drinks, hookah and certain plates that we want to order individually, but they said that will give us set Masa for $25. So we had to pay that fair for four people who only had 7up. Of course set price does not include tax and 18% tip they add automatically. The Maza was very bad including Najar's a and beans that no one touched . We ordered couple makanek plates that tasted bad. We need paying $50 per person and we had a bad experience. You can ask, doesn't mean you'll get it, ie napkins or water... just BAD! At least they are consistent with bad service. Can't expect anything more. A FULL BAR. really great food, we had the beef and chicken shawarma plates and the meat was really tasty and soft. The plate came with salad and humus and those were really yummy as well.
