Wayne is the best bartender at the Phoenix, loved meeting him.

I had never been to the Phoenix bar, but some friends invited me and I had blast. Really fun time, Wayne the bartender is hysterical,he made the night! Will def be back

This place is a great bar and place of refuge for the LGBTQ community. Why is the upstairs closed. I heard so many stories about it. I wanna make my own.

Had a great time at this neighborhood bar. Very friendly and relaxed atmosphere. Good music too. It was my favorite bar in New Orleans

Beware of thieves who pick-pocket. Had my wallet stolen out of my front pocket. Bar staff didn't really care.

These guys, and this bar, have rep'd my tribe for a long time. For those well adjusted homosexuals, and our fun foibles.

Just out side the Quarter you will find the best leather Bar in New Orleans. Weekends are a great time to visit. Always welcoming

A cool mix of friendly, neighborhood joint and raunchy, hook-up bar. The retail store has many fun offerings.

I've never actually read Dennis Cooper, but after looking him up, I completely understand what Patrick G means.

And I'm so glad we did, because we made friends and had to come back 2 more times before we left NOLA. It's a dive but a quirky and unique one. We had all kinds of different drinks, including the homemade Jell-O shots, and loved every one. Get to know the staff and you'll be so glad that you did. They are truly all amazing and so much fun. Good vibes only!

Chances are pretty likely that this is the friendliest gay bar in New Orleans. Jamie W and I were…read moredoing a rather cursory search when we came upon the enthusiastic reviews for this corner spot on the northeastern edge of the French Quarter. It definitely felt off the beaten track because it required a ride on the red Riverfront Streetcar Line. When we entered the premises, we immediately thought it was a sports bar given all the TV screens that were on, each featuring a different game. Sitting at the bar, there was more of a frisky friendliness from the bearish bartender. His gregarious personality made us feel right at home and not like some dyed-in-the-wool tourists. The subtle decorative elements exposed the true orientation of the bar. There was also a baby boomer vibe because where else would you see a vintage movie poster of "Man's Favorite Sport?" starring Rock Hudson and Paula Prentiss (Photo 3). The price was right: $5 Tequila Sunrises (Photo 10). They were potent, too. Keep 'em comin'. The bartenders were young, and the only business we saw consisted of drunk women who looked like they made a wrong turn off Bourbon Street. 8PM may have been too early to expect a congregation of social sisters.. No Espresso Martinis to be found here, so we went with our standby, the $12 Tequila Sunrises (Photo 5). They were satisfying enough. Not much interaction with the bartenders who preferred socializing with each other. Ah, youth. We'll give it another try the next time we're in Nawlins, but The Golden Lantern was a friendlier spot.
