My mom recently passed and she would cook all these island food I was homesick and missing the spice and decided to try these folks out. OMG it was so delicious food was just like my mom's. He always gets the Tripleta Triple meat sandwich with slow-roasted pulled pork, all-white meat chicken breast, and smoked ham topped with potato sticks and Bori sauce (garlic mayo) on 'Cidrines Pan Sobao' (Puerto Rican bread). There's nothing I've tried that wasn't a 10. You can tell they really put their heart into their cooking and it all comes with amazing service! Decided to take a 30 minute / 20 mile drive into Phoenix because i was craving a taste of home. Boy was i not disappointed. Adventurous. I met a new friend here that was excited to show me what Puerto Rican food was all about (she is Puerto Rican and I am a PR food virgin). I was driving around for awhile and then talked to some people at a local bar that explained it was a food truck. It all started to make sense. My friend showed up and made some suggestions on what I should try. I typically don't eat beef so I ended up with this interesting sandwich that is made from plantains to make buns. It was really good. But then the owners came out of the van and had us try these sweet plantains and those were really really good. I also tried this strange soda that almost tasted like molasses. As a traditional family experience everyone at the table has become an expert in the matter, 100% of the guests agreed that this was the BEST we've had. I tried their mofongo bowl with shrimp. - shrimp well seasoned and yummy - rice was delicious ! - pro tip: for those that grew up with mofongo, they eat it how they like, but for those who didn't grow up eating it, it can taste a little bland and garlicy (no matters what restaurant makes it) so use the bottle of ketchup they provide and squirt some on the actual plantain and watch how all the flavors explode together :) Beef Empanadilla could've used a little more seasoning, it wasn't oozing with juice and flavor.
