Photo Pro is one of the best photo labs I have ever been too. They offer an array of services that you wouldn't even think of until you walk into the store. I had about 1500 slides that I needed digitized, a friend of mine told me he had something similar done here and they did a great job. Not only did they put the slides onto DVD for me, but also made them look new on the DVD. The colors were like new again they made sure there was no dust or marks since they slides were from the 60's. Their prices are very reasonable and they guarantee their work. I was extremely pleased by the caliber of the work that these guys offer. The first time I've used their services was for my wedding, and I had them blow up 5 to 6 pictures of my wife and I on different mediums-canvas, metal, etc. The print result was absolutely amazing, and because of timing issues, the company hand delivered this to me on the day of my wedding. I recently had about 100 prints made in different sizes, and Photo pro handled the job effortlessly. I thought it might take a day or two, but they called me the same day and told me my whole order was ready! They're great at handling color and B&W film, as well as all digital formats. (As a matter of fact, I brought my pictures in on a USB drive and they printed straight from that.) They also have guys on staff that can help with cropping, resizing, retouching, color correction, etc. And they were happy to answer all of my questions. I also found it really convenient to be able to e-mail some of my digital pictures so I didn't even have to drop stuff off -- just picked up everything when I paid. Last but not least, they're also a notary public service (Yep, I used that service, too.). The only reason I didn't give five stars was because the prices were a teensy bit high. But I'm a firm believer that you get what you pay for, and I'd rather pay a few dollars more for the long lasting memories of great pictures than crappy prints on the cheap from Wal-Mart! read more

I didn't read any of the reviews prior to visiting Photo Pro. Most I see are positive, I went to Photo Pro to mail a package the as the post office in Napa can be a bit busy, and used no other services, most reviewed here. I'd say based on the fact that my package has not arrived where it was supposed by today (I gave it to them on Tuesday, paid for 2 day USPS shipping, so it should have arrived on Thursday, but didn't leave Photo Pro till Wednesday) you're better off waiting in line at the post office or go to a proper shipping facility, visa vie UPS or FedEx. They didn't provide me the service I expected and they told me I'd receive. read more

She told me it was OK to smile (but, not show my teeth, lest my application get rejected.) She even had a mirror and took some practice shots in her professional studio complete with professional lighting. I think I had at least 4 (!) acceptable photos to choose from and she helped guide me to choose just the best one. I'm so critical. She has a very professional and artistic eye. I really needed her expertise! When I got to the Passport Agency, the agent kept staring at me then, looking down at my photo then, up at me again, over and over. He was confused. Even asked me to remove my mask and told me he couldn't believe what a nice photo with a happy, pleasing face!! So, ask for Nikha. She also shoots professional portraits and pets, too. First time there today. Came in for finger printing for an employer : no appointment necessary and was seen immediately. They except cash and a credit card/debit card as a form of payment. They provide you 2 copies of service rendered: one for your records and the other to your employer. I liked that finger printing was just $20. Others charge significantly more:))) read more

I've gone to Photo Pro in the past for things like odd size film for a vintage camera and they've always had what I needed so they were the logical choice for me when I wanted to have a friend's photo copied. My friend has a beautiful B&W photo of the the Grapecrusher statue and after all these years I finally asked her if I could copy it. I took the matted and framed photo to Photo Pro and asked for two identical copies. They made me pay up front, which I had a funny feeling about and I was shocked that two B&W prints were going to cost me $68.00 When I went to pick them up they had made much larger prints (11x14) and had enlarged the image. When I explained to the store owners they said they would cut the pictures to the right size but seemed to have trouble understanding that it wasn't just the size of the prints, they had enlarged the image. They assured me they would fix it and to come back in a few days. When I returned the prints were the right size, but still the image was enlarged. I kept trying to explain that the image was enlarged and they kept trying to tell me that it was the same but they just added a white border. It was not the same. I was still being pleasant at this point but really didn't understand why they couldn't understand that all I wanted was 2 identical copies. Again, I was assured that they would get it right. At this point I was feeling bad because I still had my friends picture that she took off of her wall to let me copy. I came back again only to find that the two prints they made were different! One was almost right but the other copy was still and enlargement. How unprofessional that they didn't even notice the prints weren't the same and I had to point it out. So the owners son asked me to wait and he would print out another copy of the correct one. I also noticed that the glass on the original looked scratched. I mentioned it to him and he was very snide in telling me they didn't scratch it. At this point I was really annoyed that it took four tries for them to get a simple job done, it cost me $68 at they didn't offer me any discount or return my money. But the worst part was as I left their store, I said that I was disappointed and wouldn't return as a customer and instead of an apology the owners' son just made a face at me like he didn't care about my business. Poorly handled Photo Pro! That is not customer service. UPDATE: I called Photo Pro several times after this incident hoping to speak to the owners, not only for an apology but so this wouldn't happen to someone else. Every time I called they said the owner was busy and took my number, but no one ever called back. Again, poorly done and this customer is lost. I will also no longer recommend them to anyone looking for photo work. read more

Matt Lyall, and the family owners (who were very nice) of Photo Pro were wonderful to work with. I had them do a slide show for my son's wedding rehearsal dinner. They worked effortlessly to make it perfect for us, re-doing the final product several times, and we couldn't be happier with the results. There were a lot of photos, at least 6 songs, and they put it all together beautifully. The first photo shop I've ever come across that has no idea where to purchase a camera locally. The woman that answered the phone was short, rude, and unwilling to help. How do businesses not get it? If you're rude to your customers in person or over the phone, they will not give you their business. read more

Quick Summary: Poor qualitity work and customer service, defensive and prideful staff, not recommended Long Summary: First of all this place is so cluttered and aged I feel like it probably hasn't changed since the mid 1990s, which really would me hesitant to use any service they offer outside of basic prints and notary public, but that wasn't what I had a problem with. I went in to have my non-USA passport photo taken. When I asked if they do passport photos for my country's passport they said they do them all the time and they didn't need the directions I had with me with all the specific requirements. Long story short, I mailded out my passport renewal application and phtos ($50 by Fedex) and it was sent back to me citing that the photo was not to specification. When I complained to Photo Pro they said that they'll re-take the photo but no compensation can be made for the fact that I now have to spend another $50 to send it back ($100 total by now) because they made the mistake. Oh wait, they did offer to refund my money ($18), but told me I couldn't even keep the photos. I went to a great little place in St Helena, "Alan's Studio on Main" and got great service. They accidentally printed the wrong size at first, quickley re-printed them for me and when I accidentally pressed too hard with the pen when signing the back of the photo, they reprinted me another set (FOR FREE) and let me keep all the others. Best part is that now I have my new passport in time to travel because they did it CORRECTLY. Photo Pro could have easily given me some type of discount on future prints or something to help compensate, but instead they were defensive and prideful and were more than happy to let a customer walk away angry to never come back. read more

Having just moved to Napa from a city where the only options for processing film are Walgreens and CVS, I was thrilled to see a film shop still in business. I'm never going back. My initial visit was fine - dropping off four rolls of 35mm film to be developed. The gentleman behind the counter outlined pricing for me, telling me that it would cost $13-14 for each roll for processing, prints, and a CD with scans. He even generously agreed to transfer the scan files onto a USB drive for me since my computer does not have a CD player. When I picked up the photos two days later, the price magically totaled $67, the receipt was not itemized (so who knows what I actually paid for what), and the woman working was very rude and wanted to charge me an additional $18 to transfer the photos to the USB drive, despite my agreement with the other employee. The scans look fine, but the convenience of in-town processing isn't worth all of this other nonsense. I really wanted to support a local business, but sadly next time I will be shipping out. read more

I visited Photo Pro cause I needed passport photos after mine were rejected. I originally went to CVS and they told me that the photos they took would be fine. I was leaving the country and didn't have time to let CVS take them again. I went to Photo Pro because I found out about them from a friend. When I walked into Photo Pro, I was immediately greeted and I explained my situation. They explained why my photo was rejected. They took my photo and told me that these new ones would be accepted. I went right to the passport office in San Francisco and they were accepted that next morning. Recently on my second visit I took in an old military picture that was falling apart that needed to be restored. I knew it was going to be expensive but when I was all done it looked fantastic and didn't break the bank. I will forever visit this small mom and pop shop. These folks are great. We had passport photos taken for Australian passports. They were an incorrect size. Oops. BUT they did a fantastic job of taking new photos, ensuring they were correct, and not charging us another penny. It turns out a new person had done the original ones, and when we returned the owner went out of his way to educate the staff - and us - about what was needed. They know passports!
