Phovorite was another random stop on my phoventures. I mean, who doesn't like a random pho place? Unfortunately it was not phonominal and did not earn a spot on my phovorite pho restaurants list. To be fair, the broth was flavorful, but for the price point of more than $20 out the door, I felt a bit ripped off. The portion was really small and barely filling at all. There were only about three pieces of meat, no tripe that I could find, and it looked like one tiny meatball cut in half. In comparison to the dozen or more pho places I've visited, this was not "large" by any stretch. The restaurant was in a dingy strip mall and things didn't really look too clean inside either. Stuff looked worn out. The bathroom had a funky smell and was being used for storage. The doors were just dirty. Also the restaurant was empty when I arrived and it took a little bit to get the food. I tried Phovorite with a coworker and I am not upset with the choice. For lunch it wasn't busy and prices were not that bad. We were seated immediately and were ready to order within minutes. I stayed with the vegetable spring rolls. Thankfully they came with a peanut spread because tha was the only thing that honestly made them halfway enjoyable. They were really dry and lacked any flavor whatsoever. It just wasn't what I was expecting. I ordered the pork bahn mi sandwich and that I must saw was very good. My friend ordered a lemongrass chicken noodle salad and it looked fantastic and was huge. He said he gets it all of the time. I would definitely try that the next time I am in. But loving Bahn mi sandwiches, I need to figure out what I can eat with it. Because the spring rolls were not it. The Thai tea was just a Thai tea. This spot is a staple lunch spot for most Culver City workers. The food is solid. I usually stick to the Bun and Pho. Rice dishes are great too. The Banh Mi was probably the only thing I don't order consistently. It's the family restaurant vibe that makes you feel like you're in someones home. Although I've seen people rush themselves to pay or order, that family vibe reminds you that not everything needs to be perfect. They still did the job * broth was aromatic in the sense that you can tell they did brew it for a while but was a little light and less flavorful as true authentic pho Spring rolls * spring rolls were not crispy despite me getting there in less than 10 minutes * the Toluie paper under the spring rolls got damp as a result of that and stuck to the spring roll & pickled carrots in little bits - had to throw away some * pickled carrots were cut too thick and not as flavorful * lettuce was not crisp and fresh. Were quite bitter. Overall the price after tax for small pho, extra noodles and spring rolls 3 pieces was $27.80 and was made in less than 10 minutes. Not too bad but If you want a higher quality place the price probably will only be $5-7 more. There's a time and place for everything. I am pretty sad to be writing this review, but the quality of the restaurant has gone down. During our last experience, we had two bug visitors. One small fly was in my water and a caterpillar made it into our soup. My sister thankfully noticed it before she ate it. Unfortunately, she was more than half-way through her bowl of Pho. The staff was kind enough to comp her pho bowl and take 10% off our tab. Aside from that, their noodle portion sizes have decreased over time and extra noodles cost 3 dollars. Lastly, their broth can be hit or miss depending on the day. We will be finding a new favorite spot. It is no longer our Phovorite spot. read more

The broth fueled my soul, and the fish sauce was HITTIN Out of all the pho places I have been- this place still has the best noodle texture! Chewy but dense :D I don't know how they do it! There's a small parking lot shared with other businesses. Service was quick and staff were friendly! Plenty of seating. Menu was reasonably priced. Ordered a small brisket pho ($13.90) and asked to substitute with egg noddles (big fan of that), which they were okay with. The eggs noodles were great and firm (how I like them). i've been on the hunt for a good and healing pho spot near me, and i came around 1pm on a saturday for lunch since it's so close by! it's a nice cozy place and i love that it has viet + thai fusion. pho with rare steak: 8/10 - i got the size large and it was in a big bowl so the portions LOOKED huge but it wasn't much. i finished it all in one sitting even though i usually can take half my large pho to go. price wasn't horrible compared to other places though. the broth was very fresh and the meat slices were big. egg rolls: 9/10 - love the crunch and sauce. it was a great combo to get with the pho to switch up the flavors. i got 3, which feels like a good number for one person. thai tea: 9/10 - perfect amount of creamy! the ice does water it down but it was amazing in the beginning. overall, pretty good food and would come again since it's close and i like the ambiance. read more

This isn't a review about the food, as I've lived in the area for many years and only order from here occasionally. My food has been tasty, consistently. However, every time I order take-out (tip or no tip) I always receive the bag closed with no chop sticks or napkins inside. They also don't offer them at pickup. I get home and I'm like, "damn! I'll preface this by saying that my friend absolutely loves the pho here. I tried a bite of hers and it was very good. Next time I'd probably just get the pho. May 2024 dine in: 3pc egg roll - 6.5/10 House special noodle, seafood only - 6.5/10 Egg rolls: As other yelpers noted, there is very little filling in these egg rolls. I like that they serve with the fixings (lettuce, noodles, pickled veggies). They don't give enough nuoc cham but it tasted okay, if not a little light, to me. These egg rolls aren't bad, they just aren't worth the price. 6.5/10 House special noodle: I wanted to like this and was hoping it would be similar to Kim Kee Noodles in SGV. Unfortunately it just didn't land for me. The broth was a bit too fishy (probably my fault because I didn't want the chicken or egg and they gave me fish and mussels instead.
