    PHO Combination (Large Only)
    Michael T.

Phovorite was another random stop on my phoventures. I mean, who doesn't like a random pho place? Unfortunately it was not phonominal and did not earn a spot on my phovorite pho restaurants list. To be fair, the broth was flavorful, but for the price point of more than $20 out the door, I felt a bit ripped off. The portion was really small and barely filling at all. There were only about three pieces of meat, no tripe that I could find, and it looked like one tiny meatball cut in half. In comparison to the dozen or more pho places I've visited, this was not "large" by any stretch. The restaurant was in a dingy strip mall and things didn't really look too clean inside either. Stuff looked worn out. The bathroom had a funky smell and was being used for storage. The doors were just dirty. Also the restaurant was empty when I arrived and it took a little bit to get the food. Not sure if the chef was on break and someone that didn't know what they were doing made it. Overall, a fun stop, but I would never go here again.

I haven't eaten in this little complex in a number of years. The old staple spots are now gone and they have made way for some new flavors. I tried Phovorite with a coworker and I am not upset with the choice. For lunch it wasn't busy and prices were not that bad. We were seated immediately and were ready to order within minutes. I stayed with the vegetable spring rolls. Thankfully they came with a peanut spread because tha was the only thing that honestly made them halfway enjoyable. They were really dry and lacked any flavor whatsoever. It just wasn't what I was expecting. I ordered the pork bahn mi sandwich and that I must saw was very good. My friend ordered a lemongrass chicken noodle salad and it looked fantastic and was huge. He said he gets it all of the time. I would definitely try that the next time I am in. But loving Bahn mi sandwiches, I need to figure out what I can eat with it. Because the spring rolls were not it. The Thai tea was just a Thai tea. It came in a nice cold glass but really needed ice after just a few minutes. Not my phovorite but I'll be back.

Does the job. Cheap. Quality isn't there but does the job. Small Pho Rare Steak $13.90 * pro: the rare steak was extremely tender and delicious. 10/10 worth. However for the small bowl they only gave you 4 slices * noodles were on the small side. Think of a ramen packet, noodles came like to be about 0.75 of the size of a ramen packet. * I ordered extra steamed noodles on the side for $3.90+ and they gave me an extra box of noodles which were ranging from 0.75-1 x the size of a ramen packet. * this combination of getting the small pho bowl + extra noodles was nice but still did leave me wanting a little more & also a little disappointed that the ratio of meat to noodles felt off. * I've gotten just the large bowl and that seems overall less food than this combo of small pho bowl plus extra noodles. * noodles weren't the authentic pho noodle type (a little too wide). They still did the job * broth was aromatic in the sense that you can tell they did brew it for a while but was a little light and less flavorful as true authentic pho Spring rolls * spring rolls were not crispy despite me getting there in less than 10 minutes * the Toluie paper under the spring rolls got damp as a result of that and stuck to the spring roll & pickled carrots in little bits - had to throw away some * pickled carrots were cut too thick and not as flavorful * lettuce was not crisp and fresh. Were quite bitter. Overall the price after tax for small pho, extra noodles and spring rolls 3 pieces was $27.80 and was made in less than 10 minutes. Not too bad but If you want a higher quality place the price probably will only be $5-7 more. There's a time and place for everything. This restaurant excelled at * SPEED * PRICE * uneven ratios that leaves you a little unsaturated but the small portions allow you to try everything without being too full at the end. This combination left me very full but wanting a tiny bit more meat especially since that was the best quality of this meal

Ambiance - clean, casual restaurant near Sony studios Service - we were immediately seated. Food came quick. Service was very good. Food - this is one of our favorite Vietnamese restaurants. The food is always fresh, delicious and servings are very generous. One person in our party was shocked to see the large-sized bowl containing her pho order. She loved it! My hubby and I each ordered the charbroiled pork slices on a noodle salad. So yummy! We also ordered their egg rolls which was crispy and flavorful.

    Mostly ice

The food here is decent, but the portion sizes don't really match the price, which was a bit disappointing. I ordered a lychee lemonade and finished it in just a few gulps because most of the cup was filled with ice rather than the drink itself. The Vietnamese sandwich had good flavor, but it felt like it was mostly bread and vegetables with very little pork. The "large" pho also seemed closer to what most places would call a regular-sized bowl, which made me wonder what the small size would look like. I also tried the burrito wrap, which was about the size of a standard burrito but not filling enough for the price. It's basically a large spring roll with a few pieces of protein. Mostly veggies. It will leave you hungry still. Overall, the flavors are good, but increasing the portions or adjusting the pricing to better match the portion sizes would really improve the experience

It wasn't good... it was GREAT. I got the wagyu beef pho, and the protein was served rare, which is my personal preference for a good beef pho! The broth fueled my soul, and the fish sauce was HITTIN Out of all the pho places I have been- this place still has the best noodle texture! Chewy but dense :D I don't know how they do it! Lol My server, Silvia, is so kind & very attentive & took care of me well! She even adjusted the AC without me even asking hehe I came in around 6 PM on a Wednesday night, and it wasn't busy, so I got to enjoy the large table in the middle of the restaurant to myself ahhah. Overall, great atmosphere and great sliced onions! Lol

    Bangkok Spicy Noodle Soup
    Lena S.

I love a good Thai/vietnamese fusion. The Bangkok spicy noodles weren't that spicy. It's pretty mild. I asked if it was similar to tom yum, she said yes. But I'd say it's a loose comparison to tom yum. Not in a bad way. It was very delicious. There's peanuts in the soup, sweet and sour. Right up my alley. I'd definitely come back.

    Matcha beer

My friends and I stopped here for a quick lunch. Small parking area so I'd recommend walking if you're near by or looking for street parking. I ordered the matcha beer- interesting flavor, very cool to at least try. I also got the Pho combo- amazing broth and tender meat. The price was reasonable too. Lots of seatings inside for all groups. The staff was quick, attentive, and friendly. The menu had more options I'm very curious to try.

Small Pho with Brisket (Egg noodle substitute)
    Kaitlyn I.

There's a small parking lot shared with other businesses. Service was quick and staff were friendly! Plenty of seating. Menu was reasonably priced. Ordered a small brisket pho ($13.90) and asked to substitute with egg noddles (big fan of that), which they were okay with. The eggs noodles were great and firm (how I like them). I couldn't get enough of the broth! It was flavorful and not too salty. The brisket could use a little improvement. There was a lot of fat on the edges that could easily be cut off. It was also really tough and dry, which made for a rough eat.

Shady to have gratuity suggested at the bottom when gratuity is INCLUDED.
    Marivic D.

Food was delicious. Service was okay but surprised by the bill. Not only was gratuity suggested at the bottom of the receipt even though it's already included. Which the server did not tell us. And that suggested gratuity is calculated after tax is added. They need to remove that suggestion or remove automatically including it. Really disappointed.

    Thai Ice Tea
    Christine D.

i've been on the hunt for a good and healing pho spot near me, and i came around 1pm on a saturday for lunch since it's so close by! it's a nice cozy place and i love that it has viet + thai fusion. pho with rare steak: 8/10 - i got the size large and it was in a big bowl so the portions LOOKED huge but it wasn't much. i finished it all in one sitting even though i usually can take half my large pho to go. price wasn't horrible compared to other places though. the broth was very fresh and the meat slices were big. egg rolls: 9/10 - love the crunch and sauce. it was a great combo to get with the pho to switch up the flavors. i got 3, which feels like a good number for one person. thai tea: 9/10 - perfect amount of creamy! the ice does water it down but it was amazing in the beginning. overall, pretty good food and would come again since it's close and i like the ambiance.

Inside - small but lots of seating!

Went here for lunch during work and got served very quickly (granted it was a workday). I got the Thai tea and pho with rare steak and brisket, and the pho was sooo LARGE. For $15 that's such a steal and it was delicious. I couldn't finish it so I did take it home for dinner and it still tasted so good after microwaving. The Thai tea was also really good, I like that they use the shaved ice instead of regular ice!

I haven't had a ton of Vietnamese food and haven't explored the variety of food there is but I…read morereally enjoyed this little spot. It was very cute and the seating was nice as well. I don't remember the service as much as I'd like to but it was up to par with decent service. My mistake was getting the Pork. It was too chewy and just not for me. The bread was a bit too crunchy. Alot of my gripes aren't necessarily towards the cafe itself but more so the quality of the food for me. I'm sure if I got the chicken I would have enjoyed this dish much more. I'll come back when I can and change my review depending on what else I get.

Right off the bat, the noodles that were in my pho were not traditional pho noodles. They're much thicker and flatter noodles. They're not quite Me noodles, but they're not the traditional thin round noodles you get when you order pho. Does this affect the flavor or anything to the dish? No. But if you're a 'by the books' pho eater, you're going to notice that right away & might have your own opinions based off that choice. As far as the broth goes, which is how I judge pho, it's good. It's not great, but it's good. I think it could use a little longer time simmering to really build some richer flavor. The broth is light which I appreciate, but I feel like it didn't offer the complex flavor profile other Vietnamese restaurants I have been to offer. Staff was friendly and helpful. Even during the busy lunch time, they managed to take care of us & all other tables with ease. Giving everyone just the right amount of service & space to enjoy their food. Never once were we waiting for someone to come by to take or orders or refill water or give us the bill. They flowed through all of that with ease. it was greatly appreciated. In all, I am glad Nong La í in this neighborhood to offer a slightly different option to the traditionally Japanese restaurants. However, if you are looking for an end all be all pho place, I wouldn't say this is it. It will scratch an itch, but it won't quench a craving.

The broth was rich, deeply flavorful, and so perfectly balanced that it didn't need a single sauce added. The brisket was incredibly tender. Truly a pleasure to eat.
