We went here yesterday for my wife birthday. Everything we had was excellent and prepared with style. Fresh Spring rolls were very good. The Phra Ram delight was shrimp and chicken sauteed in a peanut sauce served in crisp noodle basket w/ rice and vegetables... it was very tasty. I ordered a pad Thai and a yellow curry and they told me to show up 45 minutes later, so I did. Upon showing up they had realized they gave my order to someone else, they now start my order while I'm there. I had to wait another 45 minutes for them to make my order after they already messed up. When he went to charge me for my food I wanted to do half cash and half card, instead he charged it all on card and took another half on cash, the total being $22 and he charged me $22 on my card and took $10 cash from me. Edit: I want to say that this one off experience shouldn't be indicative of every time you go to this place. The food is okay at best, the customer service is terrible. The food here is legit. Best Thai ever? No but it's pretty damn good. Worth it for your lunch break. I've had both the green and red curry- enjoyed the green more but that might just be personal preference. Great Thai food in East County. I get the fresh spring rolls and I also get the green curry. I love the coconut taste in the curry. I've had chicken, calamari and shrimp style currys and they are all great and it's a really big portion too. If you are in the mood for dessert, the have an amazing carmelly coconut sticky rice with ice cream that is just incredible! It's a nice end to the meal. I placed a large to-go order for the family and the food was ready in 15 minutes. The staff were very friendly and helpful. All of the dishes were exquisite. We ordered green curry, eggplant, spicy noodle, tom khar, spicy basil with shrimp, veggie spring rolls, and cream cheese won tons. I went here with my buds and was totally off-guard as to how romantic this place was; I was so close to making out with my buds because the atmosphere was up there. There menus appear to be made by a 5th grade class with all the glitter, which ended up on the table. They serve spectacular food, but the atmosphere just got me out of focus the whole time there. Came here on Sunday night. We were the only patrons so service was perfect. We had the 2 for 20 dinner special which was really good. The spring rolls for appetizer ( the hot and sour sauce was awesome!) I had spicy pork noodle level 15 and my chick had chicken pad thai. Word of warning. The spices are not hot. Phra Ram is probably the most reliable and most consistent take out place in the area. The orders are always filled quickly and correctly. The food is delicious and the service is fantastic. My daughter and I went here for lunch on Thursday. It wasn't very good. They stop serving their lunch menu at 3pm. The pricing was great. The lunch is served with 2 wontons, a spring roll, side salad, and soup of the day. My daughter ordered the Pad Thai. It didn't have any flavor and the chicken was microscopic! Also, they put the peanuts on top of the dish when it usually served on the side. I ordered their yellow curry. I asked for it to be medium spicy. It wasn't it was very mild. It almost didn't taste like curry. I asked for chicken and extra veggies that you can get for about $2 extra. I asked for onions, broccoli, and zucchini. Instead, I was served microscopic chicken with extra carrots and potatoes. The last time I was here, the food was much better. This time, I didn't even want a to go box. The service was ok. I am not sure that the server understood my request and my food was a pretty good indication that she did not. They did however keep my water glass full. read more

The restaurant may only have about 2/3 other tables there and it seems to take forever to get drinks, have my order taken, or even see the waitress to get a refill. The food does kind of make up for it though! I seem to always get the same thing; Cream Cheese Wontons, a curry of some sort, and the sweet rice afterwards (absolutely wonderful). Thai food is a bit tough for GF diners in San Diego, mainly because most Thai restaurants here have additives like catsup, soy sauce and, alas, even flour. So it is always important to ask about each dish, and if something you like can be prepared gluten free. So...with that in mind, Phra Ram is competent American-style Thai food. We like the yellow curry, the pad Thai, and of course the tom kha soup. For desert, if it's in season, the mango and sticky rice is awesome. Since we have eaten here many times in the past three years, I would say that the consistency of flavor and preparation is a bit variable, but always satisfying. Just be sure to make your GF wishes known so that the kitchen can exercise care during preparation. As for ambience, thankfully they vary the music a bit, and it's seldom crowded or noisy. One added bonus is that you can call in a take-out order and have it ready 15 to 20 minutes later. read more

My girlfriend and I eat here as a back up for when we are to lazy to drive across town. The food has never been amazing but it's satisfying. However last night was the straw that broke the camels back. She order spicy noodles with chicken and I order a curry with tofu. My curry tasted like tomato soup nothing yummy or Thai about it and because I customize it I had to pay more which is fine you pay for what you want but it was just gross. She order the spicy noodles and say it was "okay" however in the middle of the night she got sick and has been sick all morning. Unfortunately for her she got food poisoning from the noodles and unfortunately for them they lost bi weekly customers. The people are so nice and sweet and the inside is really cute however the food is not something your crave or feel happy about after you eat. I have been going here for over ten years. The food is great, the people are wonderful. We have vegans, gluten free and other diets in the family. I love the yellow curry. Also love the tom ka soup. Kids love the pad thai and pad se ew. All vegetarian. I dont love the faux duck, prefer fried tofu. Love this place!! read more
