Wow! I was a bit weary of this spot due to the ambiance but they say to never judge a book by its cover. The food took a bit but was well worth the wait. I ordered the Panang Curry which was by far the best Thai dish I've ever had. The flavor was so complex and the fresh kaffir leaves gave the perfect touch. The vegetables were cooked perfectly and I could tell they were fresh. This will be a staple whenever I'm back in town. I ordered pad Thai and some other noodles plate, it was super salty. Couldn't take it after two bites. Kinda expensive for the amount of food you get. The owner got some really bad attitude. You could tell by the way he talks to his employees. He told his employee "don't waste your time" when we ask if they have coffee....etc long story short, think twice before coming here. What a realy awesome surprise! Amazing thai food in mt. Shasta. Thai iced tea... yum. Papaya salad thai style was perfectly spiced And had good flavor. I wish it had just a little more tamrand to brighten up the fish sauce but overall a good side dish. Spring rolls can sometimes be kinda bland but these are 3 big rolls - super fresh and packed with cilantro cabage glass noodle etc and a nice little peanut sauce. The soups are crazy good! Not authentic. The yellow curry was ok and the pad thai was terrible. It was literally noodles and ketchup with bean sprouts. Not edible at all, just tasted like ketchup. We had the pad See-ew, pad thai, and several of the curries. The food was amazing. The restaurant looks really small, but it is bigger than you'd expect. The menu is easily organized by number. I had a vegan member in party and her food was just as delicious. I'm not sure how many Thai places are around Shasta, but this has got to be one of the best. If you are craving Thai while you are in Shasta, give this place a try. You won't be disappointed. read more

Maybe the best Tom Kha Kai I've had in the U.S. Filled with herbs and the right balance of rich stock, chili and lime. I would order with a side of rice next time to enjoy with it. The noodles are nice and fresh ingredients. I might ask for spice and more fish sauce next time. Their spring rolls are delicious and homemade. Great place to get take out from. read more

Shockingly bad. I went and reread the positive reviews after eating here just to see if I misread them somehow. I have no idea how people could say anything positive. My son said the pineapple fried rice was the worst he ever had. My brother couldn't even drink the Thai iced tea. My daughter's egg rolls were greasy. Everything lacked flavor. The pad Thai was just basically noodles with some grease component and something reddish. Go to Black Bear Diner or cool for yourselves. This is a family run business with helpful and friendly wait staff. The chef actually came out and took our order. He was very sweet and accommodating. This restaurant had two menus...one regular menu with meat and tofu options and another menu with vegan dishes. I would definitely recommend this place. The only disclaimer I would like to share is.......to be cautious of the chili flakes in curry dishes, which caused my mom to choke and cough for at least 2 minutes straight. The funny thing was she was not the only one!! Another customer choked louder and for longer. Luckily everyone survived to eat another thai meal. Lmao! Authentic Thai food in the mountains of Mt. Shasta??? What the What??? Great service from what looked like 3 college or high school kids doing a great job! Just to warn you the portions are HUGE! A small pot of soup is the same size as a large pot of soup at a Thai restaurant here in LA. The cooks are not afraid of adding spices...they are a bit heavy handed in my opinion but very ethnic and tasty! Like on the Masaman curry you taste more curry than you do coconut milk...which is fine by me! Just saying don't freak out if you get a punch in the face from the flavor! These guys know what they cook and serve Thai food. We were there for lunch on Christmas day. Service and reception are good. I requested for wi-fi credentials and they happily shared with me. We ordered pad me, pomphret, basil chicken rice, red curry. Everything is delicious except red curry. We ordered an extra basil chicken rice and had an awesome time. Ambience is decent. This restaurant was not our first choice, but I have no regrets in choosing it. In fact I wonder why it has less rating. I would definitely visit again. read more

Mt. Shasta City has a relatively new and wonderful restaurant, Phuket Thai Cafe! It is located way in the southern most part of town in a refurbished building that feels fairly large once inside. Great spring rolls, great authentic Thai food reminding of my splendid local Tiny Thai restaurant in Cotati, CA. The owner is a nice man who is half Thai and half Lao. He helped navigate us through the menu to keep us on our Vegan paths. I have to say - when I arrived here right after they opened on a Sunday - I wasn't expecting much. The restaurant looks like it used to be something else -- and smelled strongly of cleaning products. There were funny signs pointing to the bathrooms -- and the decor is super simple, industrial cafe style. The host/server was super nice -- he even provided me an entire menu of vegan friendly options -- I had the yellow curry which was nothing short of amazing. We ordered basic pad Thai and chicken yellow curry to go and we were happy! We were glamping nearby so not too picky and not expecting most amazing food ever, but it was good. Called in the order and food was ready within 30 mins. Portion size good. Service was very fast (like I was inside for less than 90 secs and that includes paying with credit card) and friendly when we picked up. The food is amazing I recently relocated from Southern California and they have a huge variety of food all kinds of cultures and I'm a big foodie and I must say I am an hour away from Phuket but I will definitely be coming back for more I didn't have time to take pictures but the shrimp basil spicy fried rice is one of the bests I've had but also very spicy so if u don't like spice ask for chili oil on the side so u can spice it up yourself they're egg rolls are delicious (I rarely eat egg rolls) and the pad Thai is also very good. This is our second time eating here. The first time the super friendly owner was there and we ate in, the food was consistently good. This time we ordered three vegan dishes to go, we were the only customers there and did not mind waiting for fresh food. Unfortunately, we had to listen to one of the female cooks yelling obscenities at her kids the entire time. And this was harsh language, plenty of expletives. Every single person that works here is very friendly and customer service oriented and it's really nice to see people of color working here, it just makes the environment that much more warm and welcoming especially when most of the food options are either bland or the standard America dining aka burgers.
