I have only ever had one thing here so this review is going to be biased lol! I love the mushroom cheesesteak sandwich. I add mustard to mine for a nice little tangy flavor bump. The portion is great! I love the brioche buns that are used because they are nice and doughy and soft and keep the temp of the whole thing warm. They offer a few cheese options so you can mix it up if you're like me and like to fet the same thing but a little bit different depending on mood. I got the pepper jack this time and have had the regular jack and the American Cheese before. Cant decide which i like better. The staff has been different each time, but all of them are nice and they work fast which is a great benefit when your hungry lol. Its in a shopping strip right to the left of a pizza shop (i wont name them here to keep focus on Phyllis') but i will say that as soon as i order my sandwich I walk over and get some cheese bread and pizza for the kids. Makes picking up dinner on tyw go easy!! Inside Phyllis' looks like any other dinner-ish type, you order at the counter then pick a table and can watch tv while you wait and/or eat. Seems like more people take out than dine in, but could be just about the timing. I guess that would make it quiet ambiance with some decent background noise so your not sharing you story with the whole place when talking lol the lighting is nice and bright too! read more

Early Saturday afternoon, was in the area and found this burger joint close by. They had plenty of shared parking with other stores. Was not busy and decided to try them out. The inside decor was like an old Mel's dinner from the old days with bench seats with some holes and patching. Haha The place was clean though. I reviewed their pictures and they served real garlic fries and not the flavored garlic power kind. I love fries with real garlic bits on crinkle fries. We also had their junior cheese burger with pepper jack cheese with everything on it. The burger itself was juicy but no flavor. It's not the real fresh ground beef flavor kind but it was good enough. I still added a little salt and pepper. I liked that it was the right size for me and my hubs to share and try. We also had onion rings which were ok and garlic fries to share. The garlic fries were a little oily though but good. Had to add a little salt to it though. We also had their shakes. They used Dryers ice cream so I opted to have cookies and cream. Very good and nice and thick. Was happy they don't charge for extra for ranch sauce. The staff was helpful and friendly. I tried the turkey cheeseburger light tomato and light onion. I must say it was hot, fresh and juicy. The fries were the cherry on top. It's located in the plaza off Piner Road across from the Epic Center. The guy who prepared my order was very nice, he reassured me that my burger would be well done as requested. Service was great. We showed up right at open. They had cartoon channel on the TV which my son loved. The kid's meals come with a drink, side of fries, and an ice cream which is great. I got the cobb salad and everything was fresh and it was delicious. The bacon and chicken were cooked fresh. My husband and father in Law said the burgers and fries were excellent, they get burgers and fries pretty much everywhere we go so they are basically pros at this point. They also have milkshakes which was a great way to finish off our meal. The ambiance is classic diner. Cushioned metal chairs and all. read more

Love this place. They were near my work for a couple years, and became my standard go to for lunch. I absolutely love their turkey burgers. Not only are they delicious, but the price is right too, still standing at just $11 for a turkey burger, even as prices skyrocket everywhere else. Last order of the night and these guys put all the effort into making my burger perfectly. I got the one with the grilled unions and mustard. It was pretty fire. I only like my burgers well done. It's sometimes hard to get a place to actually cook it like I ask. Flat top grills and fat burgers usually leave me wishing it was burnt. I stopped going to the Phyllis' in Rincon Valley over a decade ago cause they repeatedly made me raw burgers. Well the men on Piner don't F around. They make em good every time. First thing when we walked in was the large tv was very loud. I asked the young lady what was in the garlic sauce for their garlic burger. The young lady said "I dont know" very quietly. I had to have her ask the cook as she just stood there looking at me. She did go back and ask , but she still wasn't sure what was in the garlic sauce. We ended up getting the giant burgers. My boyfriend isn't supposed to eat white bread and they had wheat buns that you could upgrade for a cost. I ordered a milkshake. They used Dreyers ice cream. The milkshake was thick but tasted a bit watery to me. The burger were good. They used whole lettuce on their burger whereas some places use shredded lettuce that just absorb the grease. I liked that the hamburger wasn't over cooked .The bun on my burger Was very tasty. We use to go to the Phyllis Giant Burger on hwy 12 going towards sonoma. I liked the burgers and fries there. I enjoyed the outside dining area. Unfortunately they recently closed up and now another eatery is in their old space. Im not sure i will return to this Burger joint. read more

Good stuff for a local burger joint. The fries were a little undersalted (easily fixed) and the onion rings were cut a little thick for my taste (strictly personal) but in general the frying was perfect. The burger was solid if amazing. Service was very friendly if a little slow. We were there between meals and they seemed a little understaffed, I'd be curious to see how the kitchen holds up during rushes. read more

To whom it may concern, My experience this evening was extremely disappointing, I should've went against my craving and not got a cheesesteak sandwich but that was what I was craving. The cheesesteak on the website says it comes with a French roll, instead it came with a normal burger bun that tasted like it was baked in the 90's. I had asked for extra cheese, American and Jack. It was the opposite of extra cheese and was not even melted. The fries were cold and it overall was one of the worst sandwiches I've consumed in my 37 years of life. I'm writing this email with no expectation of a response, it just allows me to vent to someone who more than likely does not care. I went to Phyllis's Giant Hamburger for the 1st time on Piner Rd. Went in there around 1:30-1:45 pm no one was in there just the counter girl and the cook. The decor was nice had a kinda like 50's style look about it especially the chairs and tables. I ordered the #1 the giant burger no lettuce with Swiss cheese and onion rings. What I enjoyed about the burger was the burger itself was a good size burger but into it seemed like you were at a backyard bbq. Very tasty and seasoned just right also the onion rings were crispy which I liked and the crunch was there maybe cooked a little overdone but it was still yummy had ranch dressing. Junior cheeseburger with bacon is perfect! Veggie burger with sautéed onions and mushrooms-- yum! Staff are very welcoming and friendly. We forgot how good this place is. Yesterday my hubby & I got their real ice cream, milkshakes , giant cheese & bacon burger, & fries & onion rings. Their shakes are absolutely delicious! The burgers are thick not like most places where the meat is so thin. Piled with bacon, cheese, tomatoes & onions. Most burgers we have had lately at all the famous burger joints have been tasteless, & like I said the meat is thin & you have to look for it. Plus, the ingredients aren't fresh like here. The fries were so crispy & delicious. And those onion rings are the best! We love this place , & it's a little more pricey then some other places, but you get what you pay for. Worst Experience! Will not be returning. After ordering two bacon cheeseburgers, One medium rare, and one medium, and receiving a VEGGIE burger instead. The young lady who took the order refused to remake the burger unless we paid for it again; insisting that we specifically asked for a veggie burger and that is their policy. Two issues here: First, people who eat bacon cheese burgers do not eat Veggie burgers. Lol There's no way in hell I would intentionally, or even accidentally order anything vegetarian. Not part of my vernacular. Secondly, if I "had" why would I ask for medium and medium rare. To the business owners. Your policy and rude cashier is costing you money. As a retail manger I know the cost of losing repeat customers. Today you lost one. You simply could have listened to your customer, took the loss at cost, to make one burger, and retained a customer that has been frequenting your business for years. Sigh. How can food from two locations of the same restaurant company be so different? My wife and I have eaten at the Phyllis' Giant Burgers Sonoma Highway location several times, and have never been disappointed. We just ordered delivery from the Piner Road location. GrubHub was right on time, and the corn dogs were still warm and delicious. However, the onion rings had already gotten cold, as if they'd been cooked in advance. They were still crunchy, although the breading was coming off of some of the rings by the time they arrived. And the Bordenaves Burgers we both ordered? Well, my wife asked for American cheese, but the cheese she got tasted more like a cheddar. The buns on both of our burgers were hard and dry, not fresh and semi-soft like the ones on the Bordenaves Burgers we'd eaten several times at the Sonoma Highway location. And both burgers were very overcooked. I ordered our lunch from the Piner Road location because it's closer to our home and the delivery fee was lower than for the Sonoma Highway location. I called and ordered 2 Hawaiian burgers with NO CHEESE 2 orders of onion rings and a milkshake. I went to pick it up the total was like 53.00. By the time I got home I realized there was cheese all over both burgers. I would expect this from McDonald's or Carl's Jr. but when ur paying 53.00 for 2 burgers this is bullishit. I brought them both by back and the girl working was cool about it she remade 2 Hawaiian burgers for me by and I went back home. I don't know about u but when I think Hawaiian anything whether it's pizza or burgers whatever I'm thinking pineapple and teriyaki. When I got home the second time granted there was no cheese but there wasn't any pineapple no teriyaki no lettuce no tomato. How the hell r u going to market this as a Hawaiian burger? I usually go to the location on Hwy. 12 because of the convenience and because they have the best burgers in town, imho, but I hit this location up recently instead (Jan. '22) on my way home. I immediately turned around and left when I saw the guy behind the counter without a mask on (this was when we were still under indoor mask requirements). Fox entertainment that tries to pass for news was playing on the TV as well, so I decided this was not the place for me. Meat to bun ratio was slightly off. Garlic fries were too greasy. The guy who took our order was very serious, the atmosphere was very odd, almost uncomfortable. I've been coming here for years, generally a fan of their burgers (forgot a couple ingredients on my last order, but things happen.) HOWEVER. The guy running the counter, heavy set and older, is an active problem who is intentionally driving away business. Covid-19 restrictions suck, we get it, but in the 10 minutes we were waiting for our to-go orders, he went on no less than 3 separate rants about how ridiculous it was having to wear masks and clean everything. He made a customer wait to pick up her called-in order because he wanted to finish a story about a customer he drove away because of his disregard for safety protocols. Hell, he was even bragging about the bad Yelp reviews he was generating over the issue. Frankly, if you have that much contempt for safety and sanitation during a pandemic, it's fair to assume your behavior reflects that philosophy at all times. Eww.
