Great outdoor seating areas. This is the front patio.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Nice side patio.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Hostess was great. I appreciate that the server let me try a few wines tonight, but they all seemed "rough" -either unstructured or something else. I also wasn't wild about the parmagiana eggplant appetizer. The eggplant could have been more tender and the pesto was too strong for me. But my meal got better! He switched to a Hugo spritz and it was delicious and very strong. And my main course, the fusilloni with pesto and burrata, was delicious. The pasta was perfectly firm, and the pesto was less overpowering. There was not that much burrata, but they brought me extra Parmesan and it was delicious that way. So overall a good and pleasant meal. The vegan bruschetta was also good for sharing, though a little one for one person to have on their own.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Super cute place in LaJolla away from the beach (so no views with this restaurant).[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Our server was pleasant. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Ambiance was great.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]We sat outside on their patio towards the bar.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Ordered a few drinks, a pizza, and chicken Milanese. We loved the chicken. The pizza was ok. Would totally recommend for a family visit or date night while in LaJolla.

If a restaurant has one stellar quality such as ambience, but the food is "meh" or vice versa, that could compel me to leave 4 stars. But Piazza 1909? It has ALL of the factors you want in your dining experience! I was at a work conference in La Jolla and picked out this place for my colleagues and I for dinner...of course due to Yelp reviews. Wow. Service: A+ Menu: made me anxious as there were so many things u wanted to try but couldn't reasonably put away, actual food we got: A+ (and everyone at the table for something different, but all had that savoring-eyes-closed-moment with the first bite, finally [[HIGHLIGHT]]AMBIENCE: A+ seriously so charming![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I have nothing but good things to say and look forward to the next time we are in the neighborhood!

Absolutely beautiful! Food aesthetic and everything was spot on. Husband found this place through some ad on Instagram and wanted to go here because they had the squid ink pasta. He really wanted a pastor and the rest of the menu seemed really nice as well so we came here for our anniversary dinner. Definitely had a very hard time picking something on the menu because everything looks so good but I was also trying to eat healthy so got the Fall Salad (along with the pasta). It was an arugula base with roasted butternut squash, dried cranberries, apple, caramelized pecans and goat cheese. Added some chicken on top and overall this salad was phenomenal! Chicken was cooked perfectly and everything else on the salad was also beautiful together. The goat cheese was fresh. Pecans were yummy and the butternut squash was also delicious. And so so so well together. We did not even need one drop of that salad dressing. The squid ink pasta itself was absolutely lovely. Pasta was so fresh and cooked perfectly al dente. The sauce was yummy and there was so much of seafood on there. It was actually a very good meal for the price point. No regrets here at all. All the seafood was also cooked perfectly well and I was very skeptical about a seafood pasta but this was delicious. Got the Tiramisu for dessert and it was yummy! I was a little hesitant about this because I've had experiences with tiramisu not being as nice, but this was perfectly spot on. The mascarpone was soft and creamy and yummy and This was just another dessert overall. Aesthetic was very beautiful and they had heaters everywhere so the experience was very comfortable.

We were in town for a wedding and they decided to have their celebration dinner here, we were all pleasantly surprised by this place. The restaurant is absolutely gorgeous fitted with outdoor seating surrounding a repurposed home. The service was great, they were quick and attentive. To our surprise, my partners mom and the chef of the restaurant are from the same region in Italy. Everything was fantastic, the portions are smaller and lack an abundance of flavor from what we are used to (my partners father is a chef), but overall still a solid place.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Beautiful Italian restaurant set in La Jolla shopping area, this is our second time eating here.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]First time was for a party, and they had a nice private area in the back set up.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]This visit was for dinner and love how the restaurant is lighted.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We tried the bruschetta appetizer with different bites, which by far is a must order. We devoured every bite of the crispy flavorful bread topped each with different toppings. The bolognese pasta with slowly simmered tomatoes and meat was the right consistency and thickness for the parpadelle pasta. The pizza had a thin light crust which is the way I love my pizza. We made a reservation which is recommended since they can get quite busy. The staff greeted us upon entering and were so friendly explaining all the dishes. Yum

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Place is super cute and overall enjoyed the food![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Service was friendly and nice. Heads up, they're not a full bar. Beer and wine only, but decent selection considering it not being a full bar. Pasta nicely cooked al dente and the sauces on the dishes were not that heavy. Their focaccia bread was beautifully done as well!

We came here for the first time today. Tuesdays are 50% off select bottles night. We started with the focaccia and the squash blossoms which i forgot to take a photo of. Both were delicious. Mains included cioppino pizza lasagna. The service was fantastic. Attentive but not annoying and the space is very pretty with great ambiance. My only small complaint was that the pizza was a bit soggy in the middle, but next time we will just order it well done:

I have to give this a 3 star bc the service was subpar. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The food and ambiance is fabulous[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] but the service was not great. Server took a long time taking the order and bringing food. I might try it again when it's not as busy. Great food though.

It was a cute and cozy atmosphere, perfect for a group dinner in the evening. There were 9 in our party and they were more than able to accommodate us. The service was a little slow and inattentive throughout the night. For example, we had three pitchers of water on the table that ran out and we were unable to get more for a considerable amount of time as no one came to check up on our table until the food was ready to be served. Then, we had long since finished our meal but waited a considerable amount of time for the check to be brought out. Fortunately, we were in no rush and so it didn't become a huge issue. It was just weird because the restaurant was not extremely busy and hectic on this particular Sunday night. I've worked in fast paced restaurants as a waitress and so maybe the importance of checking on your tables throughout their dining experience has just been drilled into my subconscious too much! The food was very delicious though and worth the visit. You can tell how fresh the pasta is and the serving sizes were very generous! We were all shocked at how many ravioli our friend got on her plate. Sometimes you go to an Italian restaurant and get maybe four ravioli and that's it! Our whole party was satisfied with the food and I didn't feel disgustingly full afterwards either. It's very much an enjoyable and lowkey spot for good Italian food in the area. Happy eating:) Side note: I want to also mention that they have a little menu for your furry friends and I think that is absolutely adorable!!

Cute restaurant with a dog-friendly patio, which was the main reason we came. We didn't have reservations and were seated at the bar, even though several outdoor tables sat empty the entire time we were there - a bit disappointing since we had our dog with us. Service was friendly but slow, and the food was decent, just not super memorable. Overall, it's a nice spot to check out if you're in the area, but I wouldn't go out of my way for it. insalate di cesare (small) 4/5 pizza margherita burrata 3/5

The spinach raviolis were excellent--flavorful, perfectly cooked, and definitely the highlight of my meal. Unfortunately, the veal was a major disappointment. It was extremely tough and difficult to cut and chew. I ended up leaving almost the entire entrée on my plate because I simply couldn't enjoy it. My husband and I both commented that it didn't have the tenderness or delicate texture we normally associate with veal. True veal should be tender, fine-grained, and easy to cut with a fork, but this was quite the opposite. Based on this experience, I would not order another meat entrée from this restaurant. It's unfortunate because the ravioli showed that the kitchen is capable of preparing excellent food. I hope the restaurant will review the quality of the meat it serves, as it made an otherwise pleasant visit very disappointing.

Next, we got a glass of prosecco. I told the waiter that I only like wine that tastes much more sweet then bitter or strong and he made a perfect suggestion along with giving us a sampler of 3 different wines which was so generous. I got to try them all and pick the one I liked the most, but even the samples were a generous size. For main course I got one of the current options for the cheese wheel pasta they make in front of you in cacio e pepe and my husband got the formaggi pizza with truffle mushrooms. My husband absolutely loved his pizza and the crust was one of the best he's ever had. My pasta was fresh and had a ton of sauce and cream so they didn't skimp at all. I could tell easily that they use very high quality Parmesan because i'm a Parmesan connoisseur and could taste how potent it was. They let me have as much extra as I wanted on without limiting since I enjoy a lot on it which was also a plus in my book. Next time I would get a pasta that's a little lighter, because it was a more heavy dish and it tends to make me feel pretty full after which is totally a me thing, but they have so much on the menu to try that I'm sure I'll love whatever I get even more next time. Lastly, dessert. We got a regular tiramisu and it was absolutely amazing. They put a ton of cream which is exactly what I look for. It wasn't too espresso or cocoa strong and had a perfect ratio. The cream was so light and fluffy that we had to get another one to bring home and eat tomorrow night! I had seen a previous review on here about someone not liking the tiramisu here and it not meeting their expectations for a more upscale Italian place but I've been to quite a few authentic Italian gems and this one had tiramisu up there so I'd have to disagree and completely recommend! The service was impeccable. Every waiter was kind and prompt, constantly making sure we were taken care of and getting what we needed. The atmosphere was also a plus for us because we have a 1 year old baby and there was enough room where we weren't too cramped or crowded in, and it wasn't too loud or overstimulating. The place was very clean and taken care of as well as the bathrooms. All in all, I loved this place and I will be coming back. I would definitely recommend Monello for a nice little date night, and don't forget the tiramisu.

It was a Friday evening and every restaurant on the street was full and vibrant. You could Yelp these places all day long and it would be hard to choose. There were pretty white tablecloths, the hostess was smiling ready to answer any questions and of course, the menu looked wonderful. Voilà! We'd found our spot. Our waiter was so personable and had all the answers to our inquiries. He suggested items and even answered honestly when needed. I got a Le Pécora Nera Sangria (fizzy blackberry with lemon). Tasty, but too many blackberry seeds coming up the straw. I'd get another one next time. For the appetizers: RISOTTO ARANCINI (a MUST get) - these were absolutely delicious. Four good size bread crumbed fried balls of risotto sitting in the restaurant's own tomato gravy. HOMEMADE FOCACCIA WITH DIPPING OIL (yes, that's the official name) - this is a basket of super soft, warm focaccia bread for a great price. I would get it no matter what main course you're getting! It soaks up every sauce and it's just delicious. MAIN: BAKED LASAGNA (meat) - with the two appetizers this is the perfect size for both of us. No need to get one per person! It was absolutely wonderful. I would get it again. All in all, I'd definitely go back. The food was absolutely delicious and flavorful and the employees we came in contact with were great as well. We didn't want to sit at a table right next to the hundreds of people walking by, I don't like that, but there are plenty other options one row in or inside the restaurant. It's right in the heart of Little Italy on India Street in between all of the other wonderful Italian restaurants. When we walked up. They have patio seating as well as inside dining. We decided to do inside dining as it was starting to get chilly outside. We were immediately seated by a wonderful hostess, and that made a positive impression upon us. The whole hostess staff had great smiles on their faces and they were very welcoming. After about two minutes of sitting down, our server came to ask us if we needed time to look over the menu. We said yes but that we wanted a Foccacia Bread table starter. She smiled and immediately went to put the order in. A few few minutes later she came back and we ordered our drinks for dinner: Raspberry Italian Soda, Orange Crush with Fresh Cream on top, and a non-alcoholic spritz. After we got our drinks and sip on them, it took us a bit of time to decide what we wanted. We all know that the burger here is fantastic! However, this evening, we decided to try new things. We ordered: Pappardelle Bolognese with Added Meatballs, Pappardelle Bolognese as it is normally prepared, and a Caesar salad with shrimp added. Our food was out within about 10 to 15 minutes and everything was prepared perfectly. I have to say that we really enjoyed dining in this location and we may need to come back here more instead of traveling to the Del Mar location sometimes. Our server was super customer service oriented and we appreciated her. She went above and beyond to get the orange crush drink to be unique like an Italian soda for my daughter. We were super stuffed and could not do dessert, but we did promise to come back to enjoy the lava cake at a future time.
