Wow. What luck. First time in Carson City scoping it out and was underwhelmed with "downtown", except for this gem. Coming from Cali, was a pleasant surprise the prices were 2/3rds what we would normally pay, but the food was FANTASTIC. Had the short rib entree and wife had a chicken piccata pasta dish both presented in a weird bowl instead of a plate, but it was absolutely delicious. Seemed to be the higher-end clientele/regulars and the atmosphere was warm and inviting. Our waitress was struggling with a ditz trainee, but otherwise the service was solid. read more

During my visit to Carson City today, I came from California to see friends and was advised to dine at this restaurant. I was met by a very enthusiastic and welcoming hostess named Virginia. Her hospitality and friendliness made the experience special. Virginia seated us with respect and recommended the smoked trout plate, which was delicious. The restaurant had a great atmosphere that made us stay longer than planned. I will definitely return for the food, but more importantly, for the exceptional service from Virginia and the staff. This place is amazing. Ellen was friendly and made us feel welcome after a long day on the road. We were just passing through town and looking for a nice meal. Mark at the bar made us some delicious craft cocktails. My bf had a bourbon with fresh peach and muddled cherries on the bottom. Dan makes the pizza in a special 600 degree oven that cooks it in 3 minutes or less. The food came out fast and was delicious. We had the silician pizza with lots of cheese, ham and salami. There was something special about the crust. It was light, yet crunchy. We wanted more so we had a second pizza with apple and candied walnuts. It had such a unique flavor. The next time I'm in Carson city, I'm stopping here because we didn't save room for tapas. My bf says, you have to go here. We had a lovely dinner here with great friends that we haven't see for years. The atmosphere is perfect and so warm and welcoming. The food was also really well done. I had the linguine and clams and I think it was the best I have ever had. There were just as many clams as noodles! But I have to say the best part of the evening was the service and our amazing server. Carissa was funny - efficient and followed up frequently. She read the table so well and made our night. Ordered my glass of wine and Flatbread... 25 minutes later was asked if I wanted more wine but no food yet, waitress said they were working on it. 10 minutes later, a different waitress came to tell me they were going to start my food cause they lost my 1 item order. Go here! Best menu in town...Lovely bistro-style bar and restaurant in Carson City. Clearly a lot of thought and attention went into the design of the restaurant and outdoor seating area which was very Parisian styled. The menu has a lot of small plates that are great for sharing. We had the devilish eggs with crab added and they were delicious. Also highly recommend the escargot which also had melted Gruyère and grapes and apples, a highly unique escargot dish that makes one want to soak up all the sauce. We ordered the Brussels which we dipped in the escargot sauce-yum! The shrimp and chorizo on polenta was very flavorful and also a highlight. Bonus is that they have a full bar along with a nice wine list. Heidi was our server and she was attentive and very kind! Hats off to the owners of this lovely bistro! read more

I was in Carson for only a few days, but I came here every night to have a glass of wine or cocktail. Grace is a fantastic bartender. She's friendly and makes a great drink. She made a delicious peach old fashion and always with a smile. The food looked equally delicious, but I never had time to eat there. The Manager Robin was also very friendly. When it was nice out, we sat in the patio and the rest of the time inside at the bar. Pleasant atmosphere with sandstone walls and a huge electric fireplace. Don't go! The food is ok but the service is AWFUL. We were made to feel like we were an imposition to them and not at all valued as customers. We were the ONLY people there and it took FOREVER to get our food and then the waitress got our check wrong after explaining 3 TIMES to her our request (which was simply to put drinks on a separate tab). Really? We were her only table!!! This was an important milestone birthday and the hostess said "oh well you didn't state that on your reservation". Our go-to place every time we visit Tahoe. We will go out of our way to drive from South Tahoe to Carson city just to come here because it's that special! The food here is an A+ and the wine selection is on point. Most importantly, the staff (or owners I think!) are the sweetest most welcoming people. We broke a glass of water when my daughter accidentally swung her winter jacket at the table and they were not at all bothered- just concerned for her safety! The short ribs were the best we've ever had, fall off the bone, melt in your mouth. The clam linguini, meatballs, shrimp & chorizo, charcuterie, and garlic knots were all so good. Our first time at piazza on Dec 11 with our besties and were just planning on having a drink and moving on to the next spot for dinner. We ordered drinks (two holiday mules and some beers) and an app because the menu looked so good and our waitress, Carissa, highly recommended a number of items. Well, we never left! Had the best time and enjoyed every bite of food we had. Had the fig and bleu cheese flatbread (omg to die for), the sausage and pepper flatbread, short ribs on polenta, Mac and cheese, fingerling potatoes, and some bread. We had the best time with our waitress and she even introduced us to one of the owners, Dan, who makes the delicious pizzas. Drove here from Reno and we are already planning our next trip to Carson at our new favorite spot. Thanks to our waitress, Carissa, for convincing us to stay! Give her a raise!! read more

My husband and I had been wanting to come into Piazza Bar for quite some time and we finally got the chance to! The food and the ambiance were great, as expected! I wish this were a 5 star review but the service received last night was not what we would have expected at a place like this. Our waitress, Heidi I believe, was rude numerous times. One time including her grabbing our drink menu and throwing it on a chair. When thanked, no response. We did not get checked in on as we should, we did not feel welcomed. Everything about this charming place made me happy. The staff was warm, welcoming, efficient and professional. The ambience was lovely and relaxing. I had the apple flatbread style pizza which sounded just unique enough to try. It exceeded my expectations. The crust was amazing and the combination of the cheddar and blue cheese along with the apples was delicious. This is my new favorite place to go in Carson. I stopped by to eat the the other day but they weren't open yet. I was disappointed but said I would come back soon. The lovely woman there said as I left "We appreciate you." Nice touch! Food ok BUT BEWARE....5oz glass of mediocre Pinot Grigio and 1 x 12oz. local draft beer cost $18 and change before gratuity. Food decent but undersized portions. Menu descriptions not in sync with what's delivered. $4,000 worth of wine dispensers on back bar but no wines hooked up to system, pretty expensive wine cabinets with lots of other wine inventory refrigerated immediately below! This group is living on the laurels of the now forgotten Adele's, another over estimated establishment that was predominantly trying to survive on popular menu items from another era, 70 year old would remember. The restaurant is clean although glassware on top upper shelves are laden with dust. Staff were friendly but nothing beyond that, just going through the motions. No visible sign of any management throughout our visit. We sat ourselves at the bar and left without any word of appreciation or simple thank you. Would we return? No, S7.50 for a 12 oz. beer in Carson City is asinine and that's before a tip. Price points and lack of simple hospitality can probably explain why the place was less than half full at peak dinner time on a Thursday. Since they are only open for 5 hours on 5 days of the week, you have to wonder if the ownership/management really have their hearts invested in their business. read more
