Great divey atomosphere with great homestyle/bar food. The wings were some of the best I've had and they actually give you the full wing! We thought the 13 wings listed on the menu wouldn't be enough as a side order for three of us, but it was the equivalent of 26 wings you would get anywhere else. My buffalo chicken cheeseteak was huge and I liked that my boyfriend's 'finger steak sandwich' was served on garlic bread. It unexpectedly came in slider form (see photo) but that just made it easier to eat - hence the name, I guess! My only issue was the way the server sneakily racked up the bill. For example, after we ordered the wings, she followed up by asking, "Bleu cheese or ranch? Celery with that?" which is completely expected when you order pretty much anything with buffalo sauce. What is not expected is that this simple question that usually refers to a side order was actually asking us to order a separate side of celery and dressing that was tacked onto our bill. It wasn't a HUGE deal, but just rubbed me the wrong way since it happened with several small items. This place has been around for over 30 years, a sight??!! More like Eyesore. Not pleasing to the eye, on Rte.206-pass it going home from the shore. My hanging out buddy was talking bout how great their wings were , I was not , but trying to figure out what to what for dinner. He suggested there, so we swung back around went in. It looks shady, bikers, locals!! WTH?? We walked in, narrow, fully stock bar, sat by high stool. I got broiled crab-cake sandwich, he got 13 wings & salad. It wasn't bad, could taste lump crab meat, to fill me up, wasn't bad, waitress was pretty good. So not sure what's up with this place. Last three times here has been a huge disappointment. While wins are ok they are missing sweetness they once had. They changed the fried to some coated version which just aren't that good. And they are soggy. Have been for last here visits. And the biggest disappointment is the blue cheese. Now I am going to guess they use Kraft or some distributor blue cheese but they always doctored it up. Now it tastes like it's right out of the crappy bottle. Are they getting lazy and complacent here? Not sure. But I will tell you this, the Pic-A-Lilli Pub in Atlantic City operated by Pickett Russell IV (Kip) is still as amazing as ever. That place looks better and the food tastes better than ever. They had an awesome beer selection and super deals nearly every day. I think I am done with the Pic in Shaming which is such a shame because it's an all time favorite. But the AC version is still tops on my list. Let's hope they can turn things around here. "The Pic" is a hidden gem with not much else around it, but sure is worth the trip. A very modest, simple looking bar that isn't very updated, but when it has food that good who cares. I was there on a Saturday night about 9:00 with a decent crowd. There was a guitarist/singer duo cover songs. Live music always adds a nice element instead of a boring juke box. I honed in on my foody senses and decided to get French onion soup and once again they didn't fail me. You EXPECT a bar and restaurant like this to have great French onion soup and did they come through-- just the way it should be. This was a pleasant surprise since it wasn't even what I came for. They basically put buffalo on everything and I'm certainly not complaining. I came for the wings though and was feeling bold that night so I went for the "Smoker" flavor. I usually go for the hottest flavor of wings to see what a restaurant's definition of "hot" is. They have 4 levels of spiciness- Mild, Spicy, Hot, and Smoker. Now, Smoker isn't the traditional threatening title that most places have-- you know the ones I'm talking about: XXX, suicide, homicide, fire, inferno, etc. so I wasn't placing the bar that high. Boy, was I wrong! I underestimated my saucy foe. I consider my palate to have a very high threshold when it comes to spiciness, but I was in for a challenge. I only ordered 6, and I'm glad I didn't have to endure anymore pain. They arrived at my table exactly how I like them--bathing in a pool of sauce. There was no lack of sauce on these wings as they were drenched in it. One thing that this extremely hot delight had was taste. I find most places sacrifice taste for heat when they have a very hot sauce. The Smoker sauce still had a great buffalo taste, but also something extra that made it unique and distinct to the restaurant. My battle with these wings included all of the usual side effects-- runny nose, teary eyes, sweating. After deliciously suffering for 15 minutes, I took them down. I'm definitely looking forward to going back and trying more on their menu. read more

First time at pic-a-lilli which is crazy considering how many times I had driven by! We came here after hanging at Valenzano and it was a good choice. Definitely a place that seems to have regulars but the server we had was welcoming. Wings are their thing, so wings it was. They had different flavors, bones or tails-we went tails and they were so good! I had the French dip sandwich which was great and filling. The boy had a burger and had no complaints. Wanted to try the fried corn nuggets but they were all out :( saddest part of the visit. Seems like a good place to go with a group of people, similar to merlotts in true blood, without the vamps. A small out of the way gem on Route 206 south. You can tell it's good by the large number of people there at all time they are open. The buffalo wings are what they are known for. They have a taste very similar to Bob's Corner Deli in Roebling NJ. However The Pic is much more consistent and fresh tasting. The skin never bubbles up and burns. The sauce is just the right amount. I would have to say they are a top 10 wing in NJ on taste. But are top 3 in consistency meaning they never give you a bad product. Once you are seated the service is good. They have a host(ess) podium but sometimes no one is there and you can stand there like your invisible. They would be 5 star if not for that and location is next to nothing so it is an oasis if you are enroute to AC. But honestly I like to package place I visit. We have tried several times to like this place, and just cannot. We traveled many moiles south on saturday night because we wanted to play NTN, get some decent food and just enjoy the Pine Barrens vibe. It's not the Pic's fault that no one plays NTN there. But it was disappointing that there was no one there to play. At 9 p.m. on saturday the place was near-deserted. Their food is uninspired. And we made the mistake of grabbing a table near the bar to play NTN only to find ourselves tooi near the speakers, and although we would have loved to watch the game that was on, someone kept playing the worst country music over the loud speakers (and we do mean LOUD) which drowned out any game we wanted to watch, or the concert that was playing on TV from England (Paul McCartney, et al). The kids meals were fine but my husband ordered chicken sandwich with sweet potato fries. The chicken was overlooked, fries undercooked. Pics is a staple of South Jersey cuisine. Growing up in the area, we used to go to for the "All You Can Eat" Wednesday nights. Having returned to the area for business, I went again on Wednesday night. Unfortunately, while I can't eat the same amount of wings I used to 15 years ago, the quality of the wings have not changed. They are as good as ever and worth the trip down 206. This place is a gem. We got here at 7:00 on a Saturday and were told it would be a 20 minute wait but didnt get seated for 40 minutes but the place was packed. We came for the good reviews on wings and we also were almost 2 hours from home, so we waited. The bar area is pretty cool, it's right at the entrance and the hostess is to the right along with tables, which are also to the left of the bar. I saw there was a pool table to the left of the bar also. We were seated and our waitress was very attentive and filled out drinks without us even asking, even though it was packed. Wings: we had teriyaki and the Jim beam maple. Both were amazingly cooked and flavored. The teriyaki was a bit spicy for my liking, I usually prefer more sweet, but both phenomenal. I had the corned beef and cabbage since its saint Patrick's weekend and it was perfect. The corned beef was perfectly made and the cabbage was very soft, which I prefer. Paired it with potatoes and 3 carrots which also melt in your mouth. Would prefer more carrots though. The 2 people I was with had the pulled pork burger and they both inhaled it, they said it was delicious. Overall very great food, service and atmosphere. Very homey place although it was very busy. Really unfortunate that it's come to giving a poor review of Pic-a-lilli Inn. Especially after previous great experiences here. However after today's lunch experience my lunch guests and I will not be returning. Pic-a-lilli was becoming a staple stop in our trips down through South Jersey and we made reservations in advance to accommodate our party. During our trip we had more guest join and decided it would be smart to call ahead and adjust our reservation to accommodate those extra guests. With assurance in place we eventually made our way in for lunch. There was miscommunication from the onset and the restaurant staff were not prepared for our group. The staff was rude and uninviting. We we told our group would have to be separated which initially was fine, but then the other part of our group was told there would be an undeterminable wait time. On top of that we were made to feel like our business was unappreciated and unwelcome. Ultimately due to being told "we could just leave" we did end up leaving; after nearly half of us not being seated and after a waiting for a while. I would hate for anyone else to experience this type of rude service and as a result would suggest to take your large group or party else where. read more

The drinks show up and we order our food. I'm thinking that it's going to be a while since the place is hopping. There food was out much faster than expected. The wait staff politely checks periodically, but no obtrusively, to make sure all is well. The owner even stopped over to ask if everything was okay. I said " No it's not okay- it's perfect. Someone told me years ago that it was a biker bar. I don't know where that came from. Yes I saw a couple of motorcycles. I even saw two bicycles outside. Inside i saw families enjoying their meal and each other. This place is not around the corner for us, but it was a nice ride and a great experience. I should also note that I liked the prices there. Best place around for miles! (Not sure why the name says Takeout because it was a sit down place also.) This inn is basically part sports/biker bar + part family restaurant. We went for the proximity to our campsite and found it was pretty good. They seem to specialize in wings which my party and I had and they were really good. The sandwiches, burgers, etc. were nothing special. They had a small and rather expensive list of beers. However, it does also have some historical significance,as the Inn has been there since the early 1900s and has been visited by some famous people. Overall, the food was decent and seemed like a fun, sports bar minded and family friendly environment as well. So if you're in the area, I would give it a try but would not necessarily go out of my way to find it. read more

Somewhere on Route 206 between Nowheresville and Neverland is The Pic-A-Lilli Inn, Shamong NJ which will be referred to as Pics from here on out. If you pull in the parking lot and you aren't on a motor cycle or in a Ford F250 then you will feel like you don't belong at first. I almost got in an accident in the parking lot because some clown sandwiched one of those smart cars in between two trucks and you couldn't see it because it is an embarrassment of a vehicle. However, once you stumble inside you get that comforting feel. I have been going to Pics since I was in high school and the play was always Spicy for me. Now for the newbies their spicy sauce is between the mild and hot. I have had the hot before and honestly unless you like torturing your intestines later that night stay away from it. Spicy does exactly what it should from a heat level but the flavor of the spicy sauce is just out of this world. Add in the fact that they have full wings like the Jug and you just can't beat this place. Also, if you like to mix and match like I do then get a side of Garlic Parm wings as well and really start punishing your innards. Pics has All-You-Can-Eat wing night every Wednesday but if I am being honest I like to go on Monday's for BOGO which if I order 13 wings I get 26 and that is more than enough for me. Also, you can mix wings with their tails which are also great. The only thing that stinks about Monday night is they used to have trivia which was fun if you went with a group of people but now they have Bingo which may be the lamest thing ever. I think the only reason why I can't give five stars is because its inconsistent here. Anyway, I am going to start with the "problems" others have talked about. Firstly, yes once in a while it seems that the wings lack some meat and are scrawny. Years ago, my father had mentioned this to an employee. They happily explained to us that their supplier who is actually from the southern jersey area is to blame. However, most of the time the wings' sizes are up to par and mostly bigger than other places. Pic's does not skimp on your meal. One wing comes with both the "wing" and drum stick of the bird. The sauces are awesome. The mild still has a wonderful spice to them with lots of flavor. The spicy and hot taste similar but both obviously have a bigger kick. The smokers in my opinion are not edible and the waiters will warn you and the garlic parm is my new addiction. Similar in flavor to the mild but with garlic and Parmesan make it wonderful. The service is wonderful and there are a handful of waitresses that have been there for the fifteen years I've been patronizing the place. All you can eat wings Wednesday night. This night is super cheap and endless wings. It is like heaven. Sometimes you wait for over an hour so get there early. I have to say all you can eat night is where the inconsistency comes in. The place is so packed and they're constantly putting out wings so sometimes they seem to be different than the last time. I suggest if it is your first time, for a guaranteed good wing experience go on a regular night to get the true experience. Most likely you will be not disappointed and will be happy to try.
