Where do I start, first I ordered a turkey sandwich on a roll with lettuce an mayo w a side potato salad. Including a drink it came out to be 15.75 that's crazy. On top of my over priced sandwich the bread was stale! I opened the sandwich to find left over side scraps of meat in between that turned me off big time I moved on to the potato salad that was disgusting and bland! Food level is great they have a wood fired oven for pizza imported from Italy but they have no customer skills six people in staff running around smoking outside waited forty five minutes for two pizzas , Pizza Hut has better customer. Service gave me the impression I don't need you go elsewhere for Italians with broken English you would thing they wood care !!!! Cool little Italian gourmet shop in the middle of New Hyde Park. The fresh, brick oven pizza is a hidden gem in NHP and rivals the best pizza spots around here. The espresso also takes me back to the little cafe spots in Italy! read more

I'm a major fan of Piccolo Gourmet. I write for some of the local Patch newspapers and am always looking for good food to write about. Their chicken burgers -- both Mediterranean style and southwester -- are outstanding. I love the caponata--a luscious combo of eggplant, olives, toasted pignoli nuts and a bit of tomato sauce. Baci pizza with smoke mozzarella, pancetta, red onions and baby arugula, made in their wood-burning oven, was crisp and chewy and distinctive. Enjoyed the cappucino topped with cinnamon and Venchi cocoa powder. Everything I've had there has been delicious. read more

First off the prices are very high. Highest in the area. I wouldnt mind if the food was good but it is actually the WORST in the area. The pizza is DISGUSTING!!! OMG. Its the worst I have ever had in my life. The chicken sandwich was average at best but for a hero, was as small as a roll. Would NEVER order from them again. Love this place! My high school uses Piccolo for our senior bbq every year. I have had them cater parties for me. The food is delicious and we are always given huge portions. My family loves their homemade chocolate chunk cookies. Highly recommend! Ask for Sal :) read more

This Deli is absolutely amazing. I went in there today and had the best panini I have ever eaten in my life! The guys there are super friendly! I was chatting with one of the very friendly guys by the brick oven in the back and he suggested this panini. Told it me would "rock my socks off" and he was so right! While they are clean & all is made on premises, they are ridiculously expensive and aften take advantage to make a profit.Aa few times I purchased muffins which were stale and was not told pastries were not fresh that day. When they used carry a variety of soups, the NE clam chowder I bought was so old, the stench from the microwave forced us to open all windows in the office. I used to stop by on my way to work several tims a week but now I go very rarely and only to buy coffee. read more

Food is really good. Everything fresh & delicious. Most Delis I go to DO NOT ADD TAX it's already built into the price. I find this and the high prices they charge bothersome. A family run, very neat & clean Italian deli with excellent home made food for take-out and catering. I feel like I am back home at my aunt's house. Mangia!! Their prices are comparable with the area, not cheap but certainly not a rip off. The quality, selections, freshness and friendliness are all worth it. Who cares about the prices...I always order the DeNiro hero sandwich and for the massive size of it the price seems normal. Owner is a nice guy and they are good for catering too. Piccolo is pretty much the only bright spot in that rundown strip. read more

If I could I wouldn't even give them 1 star. I got breakfast there and it sucked. I ordered French toast and all I tasted was egg. I don't think the Papi they got working knows how to make French toast. Home fries were just burnt. Pancakes were horrible. I would never get food from this place at least not breakfast. read more
