    Miso Soup

Despite being extremely busy with online orders, they got me in and out witha call-in order within 15 minutes! I was treated to a nice Beef Bibimbap bowl with pretty much all the vegetables, noodle and rice mixture with a lemon soy sauce. Delicious! They are not light on the sauce as there was a little bit of a broth left in my bowl kinda. Filled with flavor and it was light so I'm not complaining. Everything in my bowl was flavorul, filling and tasty. The lemon soy sauce was delightful. Not too salty or sour, just right and full of flavor! They even gave us a complementary miso soup that was very good!!! How nice! Just as good as the other Pick and Mix restaurants. Everyone is friendly and orders came out quickly.

My monthly lunch date with the husband led us to their Glastonbury location this past week. As a fan of their West Hartford location, I was so happy that the food and service remain the same. It was a rainy and chilly day-perfect for Bi Bim Bap with chicken and all the vegetables. Not sure if the West Harford location has this but the glastonbury had 2 gluten free sauce options. Served with a bowl of miso soup, it was they perfect portion for lunch. They also deliver so I can also see this as a great option for those days I can't get away for lunch. I am so glad that there is now a location closer to me and know I will be back for their fresh and delicious food.

The Owner was very welcoming and kind. Helped me with the menu great meal of spicy chicken with veggies over brown rice. Great price and flavors!!

    Fees for your convenience!!

Food is ok, not a lot of Korean places in the area. But what's with the flat "convenience fee" for online carry out orders?

Out of all the Pick & Mix locations in the Hartford area, this Glastonbury one has to be the best. We came here after an intense Soul Cycling session right behind them - so needless to say we were hungry. As with the other locations, you pick the combo of veggies, meat, and starch that will go in your bowl - as well as the sauces. Make sure you order that runny egg on top! As a pro tip, their sizes run big so if you wanted to save even more money, the kid's bowl size was more than enough to satisfy our cravings. They also sell other Korean snacks as well but your main focus here should definitely be the perfectly al dente japchae noodles and fresh, crisp veggies. I definitely plan on stopping by again!

Beef bibimbap in hot stone bowl with soup in the side!

Pick & Mix is a great, quick lunch spot! I went there to grab a customized bibimbap and ended up getting one in the stone bowl. I was nervous that it was take much longer to make but instead it added maybe 5 minutes to the already fast preparation. I got in, ordered the grain, protein, and veggie options I wanted. The woman put it all into a bowl and the went to the back kitchen where the chef threw it all together. It was almost stir-fried in whatever pan they had back there. My meal came out to me quickly in a hot stone bowl, which I enjoyed as the rice crisped up at the bottom. The stone was extremely hot, but the rice didn't crisp up as well as I've seen other bowls. This wasn't a huge issue for me, but something to keep in mind if you want it extra crispy! Topped it with the great gochugang sauce and asked for extra which the woman happy gave me. Great, fast service and really delicious and flavorful food!

I stopped by here a couple of Thursday's ago by myself for dinner. Whenever I was looking for a Korean restaurant in the area, Pick and Mix came up. It is located in a strip mall and I missed it on my first pass through the parking lot but easily found it on the second. The inside of this restaurant is bright and inviting with white tile floors and more than ample lighting. There were 4 4-tops and 2 2-tops seating wise and then a counter where you ordered your food. They had a chalkboard to explain how to order with each of the steps: 1. Pick a bowl 2. Pick your base 3. Pick you vegetables 4. Pick your protein 5. Fried egg? 6. Pick Your Sauce. It almost felt a little like chipotle when ordering but then they took it all in the back to cook it while I sat down and waited. For dinner on this evening I went with the hot stone bowl (+1.50), brown rice, broccoli, jalepenos, green and red bell peppers, bean sprouts, mushrooms, spicy chicken, fried egg (+1.00) and then the hot paste sauce. Whenever it came out, it was indeed sizzling in the traditional hot stone bowl. It looked fantastic and also very healthy with all of the vegetables. This was very welcome since I had eaten poorly all week up to this point. As for the taste, yeah, it was pretty good, especially with the hot paste sauce. At first I missed the crispy rice at the bottom of the bowl but the longer I let it sit (within reason) the more crispier rice I got. Everything else in the bowl ended up tasting pretty great, even the somewhat dry chicken that was my protein. Still I enjoyed the meal and feel like it could easily become one of my go to places in Hartford due to the healthy factor along with the cost. The bottom line for me is that I would head back here again in the future. While I don't think you could consider this an authentic bimbimbap bowl, I really enjoyed the flavor and convenience of it!

I was psyched to see on Yelp that a Pick & Mix location was in Glastonbury. The space is a bit simple, but there is ample seating. I got here an hour before closing on a Tuesday, but I was told by a very friendly (though perhaps a little exasperated) guy that there was only one serving of brown rice left and a bit more of the noodles. They were also out of a few of the better toppings (sprouts and broccoli). Nonetheless, I squeaked out with the last two orders of the night. (The owner even had to turn some people away.) So, if you make it in time, there are plenty of great things to try here. If you can eat there, definitely pay the extra for the hot bowl, as the crispy rice is divine. And go for the extra egg, too! I will say, I was a bit disappointed in the sweet potato noodles, as they had very minimal taste. (I would have preferred the rice, but I was desperate!) But I've had many P&M dishes at this point, and this is the only item I'd suggest skipping. I look forward to many more meals from this new location. Welcome to the neighborhood!

The food was delicious. We had takeout and got sweet potato noodles with pork and bi bim bop. It was amazing! Highly recommend!

They can get pretty busy, so it may take a bit to get your order, but they are good at making sure you get your whole order. The service is friendly as well. We ordered a large variety. The Age Tofu was pretty good as a general consensus, though most of the fried stuff was a bit too oily. The Kani Salad was pretty good (their spicy mayo is tasty). The fish is decent quality and fresh. Most of the sushi didn't have too much rice, which I liked. The rice held together well. Still, I prefered the "tataki" (sashimi with ponzu) over the sushi. I do wish they had a regular scallop sushi, as the spicy scallop sushi is a small piece of scallop with lots of spicy mayo and rice. The special rolls (we got Fancy Tuna, Enter the Dragon, Mango Tango and Spider Roll) are pretty heavy, as most of the flavor is from the sauces. You can order things without the dressing or sauces (see the house salad without dressing....yes, it's just lettuce lol) Make sure to save room for ice cream! They have Vanilla, Green Tea (Matcha), Strawberry, and Fried (Vanilla). The Green Tea is a really strong matcha, which I love! For $28/weekend adult pricing, it's a pretty good deal. Just make sure you leave time to sit and wait.

Like one would legitimately be insane not to get it, provided you are an average fan of standard Thai-style curries like Red, Panang, or even Las Vegas style Three-color (Red+Green+Yellow). My suggested mod: Ask for your home-crafted noodles a little extra "QQ" or chewy al dente. And ask for a side of their home-made chili oil to step up the Szechuan influence.
